Lady Tigers have All State softball honoree

Lyndonville’s Brooke Robinson has been named to the second team of the All State Class D softball squad.
A sophomore infielder/pitcher on the Lady Tigers squad this spring, she hit .514 with 5 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run and 31 RBIs.
The Class D team also includes two players from Notre Dame as senior pitcher Loretta Sorochty has been named to the first team and senior third baseman Katie Landers to the third team.
The Class C All-State team has Oakfield-Alabama senior Caitlin Ryan and Alexander senior Madison Boyce both on the fourth team.
Akron senior Ashlee Henning has been named to the fourth team on the All State Class B squad.
Henning has also been named to the first team of the All Western New York small schools squad.
Barker sophomore pitcher Peyton Bradley has been named to the All-WNY small schools second team.
Barre caps off regular season with 2 wins
Barre scored a pair of make-up game wins this week to complete a near perfect 12-1 regular season and lock up the No. 1 seed for the upcoming playoffs in Albion Midget League 12U Division competition.
Barre downed Sandstone 5-2 and Holley ‘A’ 22-3.
Kyler Bennett, Brody Furness and Robbie Hickman all had hits to highlight a 4 runs third inning which keyed Barre to the win over Sandstone.
Owen Legen then tripled and came home on a single by Hickman for Barre’s other run in the fifth inning.
A single by Eli Johnson and a fielders choice play off the bat of Blake Brown drove in Sandstone’s two runs.
Furness, Hickman, Jacob Wright, Alden McCarthy and Wesley Ayrault then all had multiple hit games in Barre’s win over Holley ‘A’.
Carlton 6, Hamlin ‘A’ 0
Luke Bedford pitched a complete game with 14 strikeouts for Carlton in the win over Hamlin ‘A’.
At the plate for Carlton, Demetrius Ryan-Mincey had 3 hits and Caden Woolston 2 as Gavin Standish, Connor Hinkley and Caleb Fisher all added doubles and Jaxon Narburgh a single.
The 8 seeded teams for next week’s playoffs, in order, are as follows: Barre 12-1, Elba ‘B’ 10-3, Rotary 9-3, Hamlin ‘A’ 7-3, Carlton 6-5, Sandstone 5-7, Elba ‘A’ 3-8 and Hamlin ‘B’ 2-8.
Dynamites even diamond score with Surge
Avenging a weekend tournament loss, the Dynamites 16U Travel team downed the host Surge 7-5 Tuesday in a Western New York Premier League baseball game.
Breaking away from a 5-5 tie, the Dynamites scored what proved to be the winning two runs in the fourth inning on a pair of wild pitches as three walks set up the opportunity.
Earlier, the Dynamites scored twice in the first inning on a two-run sigle by Brody Fry, twice in the second on a single by Brennan Bowes and a wild pitch and once in the third on an error. Singles by Aiden Romesser and Ryleigh Culver set up the first inning scoring opportunity.
Evan Poeller and Gavin Heideman shared the pitching during combining for a 4 hitter with 9 strikeouts.
The Dynamites are now 4-2.
Roy-Hart girls U19 team blanks Alden

Regaining the .500 mark at 2-2, Roy-Hart blanked visiting Alden 2-0 in a Buffalo and Western New York Youth Soccer League girls U19 Division game Tuesday evening.
Maria Trombley scored both goals for Roy-Hart in the second half.
Kaylie Churchill earned the assist on what proved to be the game winning first goal.

Mel Ott downs Medina Mustangs 16U
Unable to rebound from an early seven run deficit, the Medina Mustangs 16U baseball team dropped a 9-4 decision to Mel Ott in a WNY Premier League game Monday evening at Vets Park.
Mel Ott scored three quick runs in the first inning on two singles, a walk and an error, and three more in the third on a single, an error and a double to key the win.
Medina did rally for three runs in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Brady Christiaansen, a single by Colton Smith and a two-run double by Vinny Gray but could get no closer than 8-4.
The Mustangs other run came in the first inning on a single by Ryan Pegelow.
Jackson Prynn and Kolton Fletcher also had hits for Medina which is now 3-5.
White Birch tops Banes in ‘A’ League contest
A big six run fourth inning scoring burst keyed White Birch to an 8-5 win over Banes in a Medina Women’s Softball ‘A’ League make-up game Monday evening.
Aubrey Lewis, Maddy Boyle, Anna Lewis, Rebekah Hoffee, Stacey Buckland and Dana Siffringer all took turns driving in runs for White Birch.
Boyle and Hoffee both finished with 3 hits and Aubrey Lewis 2 as Ella Lewis, Kenzie Muck, Brynn Howell, Buckland and Siffringer each had 1. Aubrey Lewis, Howell and Hoffee each had a double.
Lindsay Chatt had 3 hits and Jami Chatt 2 for Banes. Lindsay Chatt’s hits included a double and triple as Morgan Allis had a triple and Jami Chatt and Connie Heschke each a double..
Surging Medina Mustangs FC clinches playoff spot and grabs 2nd Division lead

A quick two goal scoring burst midway through the first half sparked the surging Medina Mustangs FC to what proved to be a very important 6-1 win over the Clarence Coyotes in a Buffalo District Soccer League 2nd Division game Sunday evening at Vets Park.
The victory not only clinched a playoff spot for Medina but also vaulted the Mustangs into first place as former front-runner the United Warriors lost 3-2 to the Devils. Medina is now 6-2 on the season and the United Warriors 5-2-1.
Ethan Leonard scored on a direct kick and within a minute Nate Dillenbck followed up with a break away goal off an assist from Leonard to give Medina the 2-0 first half lead.
Tyler Ribbeck came up with a couple of clutch saves in goal to keep Clarence off the scoreboard in the opening half.
Victors of five in row now, the Mustangs then locked up the win with four goals in the second half including three by Dillenbeck and one by Greg Husung.
Trenton Jones, Kyan Mathiew and Aiden Prince all earned assists during that stretch.
Medina will next host third place Ukraine (4-1-3) on July 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Vets Park.

Spartans top Mustangs in diamond contest
Unable to build on a first inning lead, the Medina Mustangs U16 baseball team dropped an 8-3 decision to the host Spartans Sunday.
Medina scored two quick runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Brady Christiaansen and Colton Smith but managed just one more run the rest of the way. Singles by Kolton Fletcher and Ryan Pegelow set up the threat.
Christiaansen and Smith both finished with a pair of hits as Medina goes to 3-4 on the season.
The Spartans scored three runs in both the second and fourth innings to key the win.
Dynamites bats go quiet in tourney loss
Stymied on just three hits, the Dynamites 16U Travel team dropped a 3-1 decision to the Surge in a Lou Gehrig Iron Horse Tournament game today at Amherst.
Trailing 2-0, the Dynamites scored once in the bottom of the fourth on a walk, a double by Brody Fry and an error but could not cross home plate again.
Evan Poeller and Tyler Kroening had the only other hits for the Dynamites which are now 3-2.
Interestingly the Dynamites will get a chance to avenge that loss in their next game as they visit the Surge on Tuesday.
Medina Mustangs score 16U diamond win

The Medina Mustangs 16U baseball team shutout the WNY Prospects 4-0 in a WNY Premier League game on Saturday at Vets Park.
Medina got on board in the first inning as Ryleigh Culver banged out a two run double scoring JJ Prynn and Vinny Gray.
Culver led Mustangs with 2 hits and 3 RBI’s. Prynn also had 2 hits and scored twice. Gray had 2 hits and scored a run and Ryan Pegelow had a hit and RBI. Jimmy Dieter, Lucas Kimber, and Quincey McClinsey each added a hit.
Lukas Grimes pitched the first four innings allowing no hits, Prynn finished the last 3 innings allowing no runs.
