Holley tops Wellsville to snap 2 game skid
Snapping a two game losing streak, Holley improved to 5-2 with a 44-28 victory over host Wellsville this evening in a Section V 8 Man Division football contest.
Holley jumped out to an early 16-0 lead. Vinny Golisano scored in the first quarter on a 21 yard pass reception from quarterback Destin Kuyal and on a two-point conversion run. Kuyal then scored himself on a 7 yard TD run and a two-point conversion carry early in the second period.
However, Wellsville answered back with a pair of touchdowns and two-point conversions to knot the contest at 16-16 at the half.
Both teams then scored a pair of touchdowns in a wild third quarter which finished with Holley holding a slender 30-28 lead.
The Hawks third quarter scoring came on a 12 yard Kuyal to Golisano TD pass, a 3 yard Kuyal TD run and a Kuyal two-point conversion carry.
Holley then put a lock on the victory with a pair of fourth quarter touchdown runs by Hunter Jewell-Smith on carries of 2 and 14 yards.
The Hawks defense also came up with big fourth quarter interceptions by Golisano and Avante Walker.
Roy-Hart/Barker posts win at Tonawanda
Making it two wins in a row, Roy-Hart/Barker defeated host Tonawanda 26-14 in a C North Division football game this evening.
Quarterback Tysen McCaa led the Roy-Hart/Barker offense with 2 rushing touchdowns and a 26 yard TD pass to Ashton Ark.
The Bulls defense also came up with three big turnovers. Ark had a pass interception which he returned 73 yards for a touchdown and Jackson West a pick which he returned 45 yards. Wyatt Sherman also had a fumble recovery.
The Bulls rolled up over 300 yards in offense including 246 rushing and 71 passing. McCaa had 131 yards rushing.
Roy-Hart/Barker is now 2-5 and Tonawanda 0-7.
The Bulls will close out the regular season by hosting Franklinville/Ellicottville in an interdiviional game next Friday night at Barker.
Alden 42, Akron 26
Alden improved to 5-1 in the C North Division and 6-1 overall by downing host Akron 42-26.
Akron is now 3-4 in the division and overall.
Win caps 15-1 regular season for Lady Eagles
Division 2 champion Kendall closed out the Genesee Region League soccer season with a 6-0 victory over visiting Pembroke this evening.
The Lady Eagles finish the G-R campaign with a 12-1 mark and will take a 15-1 overall record into the Section V playoffs which begin next week.
Alea Barrett and Sophia Picardo both socred 2 goals for Kendall as Ryleigh Denning and Leann Clay each chipped in with 1.
Denning also had a pair of assists as Picardo, Ava LaMay and Izzy D’Agostino each had 1.
Lyndonville spikers rally to down Albion
Rebounding from an opening set loss, Lyndonville rallied to down host Albion 16-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 in a non league volleyball match this evening.
Leah Kenyon had 7 kills, Hannah Fox 3 aces and 2 kills, Addie Dillenbeck 3 kills, Elena Barry 1 ace, Bella Bresett 2 aces and 1 kill, Madi Davis 4 aces and 3 kills, Hannah Marker 1 kill and Olivia Belgiorno 2 aces and 5 kills for Lyndonville.
Julia Knight had 5 aces and 2 kills, Taylor LeFrois 3 kills, Kenadie Patten 23 digs and Madison LeBaron 20 digs for Albion.
Medina spikers outlast rival Albion in 5 sets

Medina outlasted host Albion in a five set marathon 13-25, 25-17, 25-13, 21-25, 15-12 in a regular season ending Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match this evening.
Addy Paul had 7 kills, Karlee Cau 5, Maddy Watts 4 and Natalie Herbert and Maddi Sanders 3 each for Medina. Paul also had 4 kills and Maya Anderson 3 kills and 2 blocks.
Julia Knight had 7 kills and 2 blocks and Jordan Simmons 4 kills for Albion as Paige Newton added 26 assists.
Medina finishes the N-O season at 2-8 and Albion 0-10.
In another N-O match, Wilson (8-2) outlasted Akron (5-5) in five sets 3-2.

Albion and Medina girls romp to soccer wins
Albion and Medina both romped to non league girls soccer victories today.
Albion routed CSAT 11-0 as Cami London scored 4 goals and Bailey Gonzalez, Brianna Lewis, Olivia Brooks, Rori Higgins, Mia Standish, Lux Froman and Perrie Bernjamin 1 each. London, Gonzalez and Lewis also each had a pair of assists.
Medina downed host Cardinal O’Hara 8-1 as Alexa Demmer scored 4 goals, Lillian Maynard 2 and Madelynn Lewis and Madeline Mark 1 each. Demmer, Maynard, Lewis, Mack, Cameron Davis, Honesty Hill and Lyla Page each had an assist.
Holley 5, Pambroke 0
Holley closed out an 11-4-1 regular season campaign by blanking visiting Pembroke 5-0.
Zoey Wolf had 2 goals and Alivia Wolf, Kyla Burne and Ava Mosier 1 each for the Lady Hawks.
Alivia Wolf, Natalie Foose and Brynn Thomas each had an assist.
Jayda Shampine made 2 saves in goal to earn the shutout.
Kendall 4, Northstar 1
Kendall improved to 14-1 with a 4-1 non league win at Northstar.
Ava LaMay scored 2 goals as Alea Barrett and Sophia Picardo each had 1.
Picardo also had 2 assists as Olivia Sawyer and Ryleigh Denning each had 1.
Roy-Hart 1, Oakfield-Alabama 1
Roy-Hart played to a 1-1 tie in a non league game at Oakfield-Alabama as Kaitlin Metter scored the lone goal for the Lady Rams.
Lancers rally to down Purple Eagles
Trailing 16-13 at the half, Lew-Port rallied for two unanswered touchdowns in the second half to down visiting Albion 27-16 this evening in a B3 Division game.
Albion took an early lead with two first quarter touchdowns on a short run by Nate Gibson and a pass from quarterback Jonah Elsenheimer to Noah Harrison. Cencere Lowe ran for one two-point conversion and Elsenheimer passed to Peyton Robinson for the other.
The Lancers are now 1-5 in the division and 1-6 overall while the Purple Eagles are 0-7 in the division and overall.
The Purple Eagles will next host rival Medina to close on the regular season on October 25.
Shutouts are the rule in N-O field hockey
Barker, Roy-Hart and Medina all posted shutout victories in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey competition today.
Barker downed Wilson 2-0 on goals by Ella Taylor and Hailey Dodge, both off assists from Madelina Pavlock.
Roy-Hart bested Newfane 8-0 as Adella Dukes had 4 goals, Brooke Zglinicki 2 and Alayna Kowalski and Savannah Newton 1 each.
Medina defeated Kenmore 5-0 as Ava Blount and Sophia Castricone both had 2 goals and Penelope Schalck 1.
Akron 1, Starpoint 0
Akron nipped Starpoint 1-0 in a non league game on Wednesday on a goal by Ava Lombard assisted by Madigan Regan and Mackenzie Tomporowski.
Marissa Brege earned the shutout in goal and along with defenders Ava Fox, Alexis Salmon and Maddy Gates turned back 8 shots an 11 corners.
N-O Standings – Akron 10-0, Barker 8-2, Roy-Hart 7-3, Medina 4-6, Wilson 4-7, Newfane 2-9, Kenmore 1-9.
Eagles top Tigers to cap G-R title campaign

Capping off a Genesee Region League boys soccer championship season, Kendall downed host Lyndonville 5-0 this afternoon.
Kendall finishes the G-R title campaign with a near perfect 11-0-1 record. The Eagles will take a 14-1-1 overall record into the upcoming Section V playoffs.
The title ends a 10 year drought for the Eagles which last captued the G-R crown in 2014 going 8-0-2.
Kendall jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead on goals by Vinnie D’Agostino and Colby Hughes.
The Eagles capped off the win with three second half goals including 2 by Pablo Rosario-Reyes and one by Will Kludt.
Jonny Conte earned the shutout in goal for the Eagles.
Lyndonville’s totally underclassmen team completed its first regular season back of varsity competition after a year’s absence with a 5-10-1 record. The Tigers will begin sectional competition next week.

Kendall tops rival Holley in G-R soccer
Avenging an earlier season loss and a tie, Kendall downed rival Holley 3-1 in a Genesee Regon League boys soccer game this evening at Holley.
Kendall built up a 3-0 first half lead on goals by Colby Hughes, Brandon Barrett and Andrew Cole.
Eagles goalie Jonny Conte then came up with several big saves in the second half to keep the Eagles in control.
Chris Mosier scored Holley’s goal in the second half.
Kendall, which closes out the regular season with a G-R game at Lyndonville at 5 p.m. Thursday. is now 10-0-1 in the league and 13-1-1 overall.
Holley finishes the regular season at 7-3-2 in the legue and 11-3-2 overall.
The seeding meeting for the upcoming Section V playoffs is scheduled for Saturday.

Attica downed Lyndonville/Barker lost 6-0 at Attica in a G-R game and Wilson blanked Albion 5-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League contest.
