Holley tops Wellsville to snap 2 game skid
Snapping a two game losing streak, Holley improved to 5-2 with a 44-28 victory over host Wellsville this evening in a Section V 8 Man Division football contest.
Holley jumped out to an early 16-0 lead. Vinny Golisano scored in the first quarter on a 21 yard pass reception from quarterback Destin Kuyal and on a two-point conversion run. Kuyal then scored himself on a 7 yard TD run and a two-point conversion carry early in the second period.
However, Wellsville answered back with a pair of touchdowns and two-point conversions to knot the contest at 16-16 at the half.
Both teams then scored a pair of touchdowns in a wild third quarter which finished with Holley holding a slender 30-28 lead.
The Hawks third quarter scoring came on a 12 yard Kuyal to Golisano TD pass, a 3 yard Kuyal TD run and a Kuyal two-point conversion carry.
Holley then put a lock on the victory with a pair of fourth quarter touchdown runs by Hunter Jewell-Smith on carries of 2 and 14 yards.
The Hawks defense also came up with big fourth quarter interceptions by Golisano and Avante Walker.
