Poler’s Pub tops White Birch in ‘A’ League
Poler’s Pub downed White Birch 15-10 in a Medina Women’s Softball ‘A’ League game Monday evening.
Kelsey Mest led Poler’s with 4 hits as Halle Deuil, Melissa Prince and Randi Scholes each had 3. with multiple RBIs.
Aubrey Lewis had a triple, double and 2 singles with 3 RBIs, Maddy Boyle 3 doubles and Ella Lewis 3 singles to lead White Birch. Anna Lewis, Brynn Howell and Grace Johnson each added 2 hits as Stacy Buckland, Kenzi Muck, Mallory Albone and Dana Siffringer each added 1.
In the other game, Jr. Wilson bested Banes 20-10. The game was called after five innings due to the time limit rule.
Banes had a big 7 run fifth inning highlighted by a triple by Morgan Allis and doubles by Teri Scharlau and Rileigh McCabe.
Fast start sparks Mustangs to sectional win

A quick five run first inning scoring burst ignited top seeded Medina to a 9-0 victory over No.8 Akron at Vets Park this evening in a Section VI Class B quarterfinal round playoff game.
Medina will next host No. 4 Roy-Hart in the Class B semifinals on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
A two-run single by winning pitcher Brody Fry, a two-run error and a wild pitch did the damage in the first inning for Medina. A single by Aidan Papaj sandwiched between a pair of walks loaded the bases to set up the threat.
The Mustangs also had a three-run third inning on RBI singles by Richard Keppler and Vinny Gray and an error.
Fry and Papaj both finished with a pair of hits.
Fry pitched the first five innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 4. Papaj hurled the final two frames giving up no hits and fanning 1.
Defensively the Mustangs got nice catches in the outfield early in the game from both Gray in left and Julian Woodworth in center. Rightfielder Brady Christiaansen also teamed up with Papaj at shortstop for a double play in the fifth inning.
The Mustangs improve to 17-1 overall on the season.
In another Class B quarterfinal, No. 2 Fredonia blanked No. 7 Newfane 10-0.

East Aurora stickmen oust Medina
Building up a commanding 12-0 half-time advantage, No. 3 seed East Aurora went on to down visiting No. 6 Medina 15-3 this afternoon in a Section VI Class D lacrosse playoff game.
Dylan Lonnen, Lucius Wagner and Luke Duffina each scored a goal in the second half for Medina.
Huge first inning keys Rams to sectional win

All the scoring came in a huge first inning as No. 4 seed Roy-Hart defeated visiting No. 5 Southwestern 10-0 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class B playoffs.
A two-run single by Sean Mettler and an RBI single by Jake Gould highlighted the marathon 10 run first inning which also saw three runs score on bases loaded walks, three on hit batters with the bases loaded and another on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. A leadoff single by Rem Albee followed by two walks loaded the bases to set up the uprising.
Dawson Draper, Isaac Smith and Gould teamed up on the mound to hurl a two hitter with a 8 strikeouts for the Rams.
Defensively, the Rams turned a double play in the fourth inning from Gould at shortstop to Mettler at second to Albee at first.
Roy-Hart will next face the winner of this evening’s No. 8 Akron at No. 1 Medina game in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Midget League season opens with 3 games

The Albion Midget League season got underway on Saturday with three games as Sandstone downed Holley 17-2, Elba ‘B’ edged Barre 5-4 and Hamlin ‘A’ bested Hamlin ‘B’ 14-7. The Carlton vs. Rotary game was postponed.
Giavonni LaMartina had 3 hits for Sandstone as Eli Johnson, Eli Spada, Ehron Reid and Blake Brown each had 2. Russo and Brycen Potter shared the pitching duties.
Trailing 4-1, Elba rallied for 4 runs in the sixth inning to nip Barre. Evan Armbrewster had a pair of RBI hits for Elba and Josh Baldwin registered 15 strikeouts on the mound.
Barre scored 4 times in the fourth inning on hits by Robbie Hickman, Brody Furness, Luke Snyder and Jacob Wright. Hickman had a total of 3 hits and Furness registered 9 strikeouts in 3 innings of work on the mound.
Buffalo Cosmos trims Medina Mustangs FC
A penalty kick goal proved to be the difference as the Buffalo Cosmos edged the visiting Medina Mustangs FC 2-1 Sunday in a Buffalo District Soccer League 2nd Division game.
The Cosmos scored a quick goal in the first 10 minutes and then went up 2-0 on the penalty kick goal.
Medina answered with a goal by Steven Anderson off an assist from Alex Allis but could not net the equalizer.
Now at 1-2, Medina will next host LA United on June 2 at 6 p.m. at Vets Park.
Kendall tops Holley in U19 soccer opener
Kendall bested Holley 13-0 in a Rochester District Youth Soccer League girls U19 Division season opening game Sunday evening.
Ryleigh Denning and Brooke Rodas both had 3 goals and Sophia Picardo 2 for Kendall as Alea Barrett, Addison Kludt, Allyson Fisher, Haley Ball and Ava LaMay each had 1.
Win advances Barker to Class C softball semi

Top seeded Barker outlasted visiting No. 9 Maple Grove 14-9 in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class C softball playoffs this afternoon.
Madyson Flint and Arnie Sturtevant both had 3 hits and Natalie Brandel 2 to lead the offense for Barker.
Barker will next host No. 5 Westfield in the semifinals on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Westfield nipped No. 4 Silver Creek 1-0 in another quarterfinal contest.

Trailing 2-1, Barker took the lead for good by scoring 4 times in the third inning highlighted by an RBI double by Madelina Pavlock and an RBI single by Flint. A single by Sturtevant ignited the uprising.
Flint then had the hot bat over the next two innings as she banged out a two-run triple to key a three-run fourth inning, and a two-run single to highlight a four-run fifth frame helping to up the Barker advantage to 12-4. Singles by Elise Monaco and Sturtevant sparked the fifth inning scoring burst.
The Lady Bulldogs capped off the win with a pair of runs in the sixth to up the lead to 14-6 as Macie May had an RBI double.
Defensively, Sturtevant made several big catches in centerfield and pitcher Peyton Bradley triggered a 1-2-3 double play to Anna Bowerman at catcher to Monaco at first to end the third inning after Maple Grove had scored twice to take what proved to be a brief 2-1 lead.
Alex Halstrom and Meg Ryan both had 3 hits and Bryanna Cornell 2 for Maple Grove.
Class A
Williamsville South 13, Albion 1
A six run second inning sparked top seeded Williamsville South to a 13-1 over visiting No. 8 Albion this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class A playoffs.
Madison Hughson and Kenzi Snook had the only hits for Albion.
Holley, Kendall have All League track winners
Holley had a trio of winners at Saturday’s Genesee Region All League track meet as Keon Haughton won the 200 (:23.15), Allison Merle the 100 Hurdles (:16.92) and Sam Bates the High Jump (5-2).
Kendall’s Hunter Richards won the Shotput (47-1 1/2).
In addition, Holley got second place finishes from Alivia Wolf in the Pentathlon, Emma Brady in the Steeplechase and Jailyn Bishop in the Shotput.
Bates also took third in the 200 as did Brady in the 3000, Haughton in the 100 and Brooklyn Wheeler in the Triple Jump.
Medina will open diamond sectionals on Monday against a familiar foe
Top seeded Medina will open Section VI Class B playoff competition against a very familiar foe on Monday as the Mustangs host No. 8 Akron in a quarterfinal round game at 5 p.m. at Vets Park.
Akron advanced by edging No. 9 Salamanca 2-0 in the opening round on Saturday.
The Mustangs downed the Tigers twice during the Niagara-Orleans League season by scores of 4-1 and 10-5 in 8 innings.
Two other N-O teams will also be competing in the Class B quarterfinals Monday as No. 4 Roy-Hart will host No. 5 Southwestern and No. 7 Newfane will visit No. 2 Fredonia.
Roy-Hart downed No. 13 Allegany-Limestone 11-1 and Newfane blanked N. 10 JFK 10-0 in the opening round on Saturday.
The Medina/Akron winner will then face the Roy-Hart/Southwestern winner in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Kendall will also face a familiar Genesee Region League foe in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C2 playoffs as the No. 4 seeded Eagles will host the winner of today’s No. 5 Alexander vs. No. 12 Byron-Bergen opening round contest.
The Eagles romped past No. 13 Alfred-Almond 17-0 in the opening round on Saturday.
Section VI Lacrosse Playoffs
No. 6 seed Medina will visit No. 3 East Aurora in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class D lacrosse playoffs at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
East Aurora downed Medina 13-4 during the regular season.
The other quarterfinal matchups will have No. 8 Wilson at No. 1 Akron No. 5 Salamanca at No. 4 Eden and No. 7 Depew at No. 2 Gowanda.
In the opening round Wilson downed No. 9 Tonawanda 14-7 and Depew ousted No. 10 Newfane 15-1.
