Midget League season opens with 3 games

The Albion Midget League season got underway on Saturday with three games as Sandstone downed Holley 17-2, Elba ‘B’ edged Barre 5-4 and Hamlin ‘A’ bested Hamlin ‘B’ 14-7. The Carlton vs. Rotary game was postponed.
Giavonni LaMartina had 3 hits for Sandstone as Eli Johnson, Eli Spada, Ehron Reid and Blake Brown each had 2. Russo and Brycen Potter shared the pitching duties.
Trailing 4-1, Elba rallied for 4 runs in the sixth inning to nip Barre. Evan Armbrewster had a pair of RBI hits for Elba and Josh Baldwin registered 15 strikeouts on the mound.
Barre scored 4 times in the fourth inning on hits by Robbie Hickman, Brody Furness, Luke Snyder and Jacob Wright. Hickman had a total of 3 hits and Furness registered 9 strikeouts in 3 innings of work on the mound.
