Runner-up (9-3) Roy-Hart has placed two players on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League softball squad.

The Lady Rams are represented by the senior battery of pitcher Abby Fox and catcher Peyton May.

Fox, who is a repeat first team honoree, registered 85 strikeouts. At the plate she hit .511 with 4 doubles and 14 RBIs.

May hit .400 with 2 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run and 14 RBIs.

Roy-Hart also had a pair of second team honorees in senior infielder Grace Pearl and junior infielder Brooke Corser.

The Lady Rams had infielder Millie Owens and outfielder Hayley Hillburn, both seniors, receive Honorable Mention.

Akron’s Honorees
Akron had a first team honoree in freshman outfielder Shannon Esmond.

The Lady Tigers also had junior pitcher Kenadee Jonathan and eighth grader infielder Addison Massaro earn second team honors.

Akron also had two Honorable Mention selections in junior infielder Madison Gates and sophomore catcher Mackenzie Tomporowski.

Newfane’s Honorees
Newfane’s first team honoree is junior pitcher Emma Schaughnessy.

Lady Panthers senior infielder Gabby Ross earned second team honors.

Newfane’s Honorable Mention selections are senior infielder Kimberly Schmitt and junior outfielder Bailee Patcyk.

Co-champions Barker and Wilson have both placed three players on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League softball squad.

Barker is represented by senior infielders Kaylee Stoll and Peyton Bradley and sophomore pitcher Madyson Flint. All three are repeat first team honorees.

Wilson is represented by senior catcher Abbie Faery, senior infielder Kenzie Hardy and sophomore infielder Lucy Madan. Faery, who has been named N-O Player of the Year, and Madan are both repeat honorees.

Bradley hit .462 with 8 doubles, 4 home runs and 26 RBIs; Flint .395 with 10 doubles, 2 triples and 16 RBIs’ and Stoll .342 with 4 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 17 RBIs.

In the circle, Flint registered 183 strikeout and had a 1.96 earned run average.

Faery hit .490 with 6 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs and 17 RBIs’; Madan .485 with 6 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs and 16 RBIs and Hardy .400 with 1 triple and 17 RBIs.

Barker also had senior infielder Madelina Pavlock and sophomore catcher Lexi Brazzell earn second team honors.

The Lady Bulldogs also had sophomore outfielder Elise Monaco and freshman outfielder Aine Davis receive Honorable Mention.

Wilson had senior infielder Rowan Simpson and sophomore pitcher Katie Hardy receive second team honors.

The Lakewomen also had senior designated hitter Lauren Vanderlinden and sophomore outfielder Taylor Ernest earn Honorable Mention.

Albion Midget League 12U Division playoff action will begin with four quarterfinal round games at 6 p.m. Monday.

Those contests will have No. 8 seed Vets at No. 1 Sandstone, No. 7 Hamlin at No. 2 Barre, No. 6 Holley at No. 3 Elks/Rotary and No. 5 Elba 1 at No. 4 Brockport 2.

Sandstone won the regular season title with a 13-0 record as Barre (10-2) and Elk/Rotary (10-4) rounded out the top three finishers.

The semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday and the championship game for Saturday.

The Midget League 9U playoffs are scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. Tuesday with four quarterfinal games.

Those contests will have No. 8 Holley at No. 1 Sandstone, No. 7 Elba 2 at Barre, No. 6 Elks/Rotary at No. 3 Elba 1 and No. 5 Carlton at No. 4 Hamlin.

Sandstone took top regular season honors at 11-0 as Barre (8-2) and Elba 1 (7-2) round out the top three finishers.

The semifinals are scheduled for Thursday and the championship game for Saturday.

The Village of Albion Recreation Department will be sponsoring two free Tennis Camps this summer. The first of two camps will start on Monday, July 6th, at 10 a.m. at the Albion High School courts and conclude at 11:15 a.m. each day, through Thursday, July 10th.

The second Tennis Camp will begin on Monday, July 27th at 10 a.m. at the Albion High School Tennis Courts and conclude at 11:15 a.m. each day, Monday through Friday, July 31st.

Players do not need tennis experience to join this free summer event. Tennis balls will be provided. Players are encouraged to bring their own tennis racquet. However if you do not have your own racquet one may be provided.

There is no pre-registration for these camps. Walk up registration will be at the beginning of each session. An adult does not need to be at registration but encouraged.

Basic tennis skills will be taught to the beginners along with tennis drills and low level tennis competitive match situations. Scoring, rule and regulations will be taught along with tennis strategies.

Experienced tennis players will have an opportunity to drill and play matches throughout the two weeks.

This camp is for beginners to advanced tennis players of all ages.

The Tennis Camp will be postponed on any day related to bad weather.

Scoring in five different innings, Albion downed Alden/Attica 7-1 in a GLOW League 18U Division baseball game Thursday evening.

Gavin Boyce picked up the win on the mound allowing 2 hits and striking out 10 in five and two-thirds innings of work. Nate Gibson pitched the final inning and one-third giving up no hits and striking out 2.

Albion picked up a quick run in the first inning on a single by Boyce and a passed ball. RBI singles by Nick Luft and Potter then plated a pair of runs in the second.

Gibson doubled and came in on a steal of home in the third inning. He also had an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth as a double by Kaiden Froman plated a second run. A walk and a double by Elliott Trapiss set up that opportunity.

Albion’s final run came in the sixth inning on an error.

Albion improves to 3-0 with the win.

A big late inning scoring burst keyed the Medina Mustangs 15U baseball team to a 7-3 victory over the visiting Spartans Thursday evening.

Trailing 3-2, Medina rallied for 5 runs in the sixth inning to claim the win on two passed balls, a wild pitch, an error and an RBI single by Brayden LaMartina.

Earlier, Medina scored once in the first inning on an error and three walks and once in the second on a home run by Shawn Robertson.

Mason Berry, Evan Collins and Mason Mikulec combined to hurl a 4 hitter with 7 strikeouts as Medina improves to 5-5.

Finishing in third place at 8-4, Albion has placed three players on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All League baseball squad.

The Purple Eagles trio of honorees includes senior catcher/pitcher Nate Gibson, senior outfielder Kaiden Froman and junior infielder/pitcher Gavin Boyce.

Gibson hit .475 with 3 doubles, 3 triples, 4 home runs and 25 RBIs. On the mound he registered 97 strikeouts.

Boyce hit .383 with 13 RBIs. He notched 41 strikeouts on the mound.

Froman hit .350 with 15 RBIs.

Albion also had senior infielder Elliott Trapiss and freshman outfielder Viktor Snyder earn second team All League honors.

In addition, junior infielder Mason Snook earned Honorable Mention.

Akron Honorees
Rounding out the All-League first team is Akron outfielder/pitcher Colin Miller who hit .333 and had 14 RBIs.

The Tigers also had senior Conlan Luck and sophomores Gavin Miller and Hunter Haist earn Honorable Mention.

Barker Honorees
Barker senior outfielder/pitcher JJ Prynn and junior infielder Logan Flint both earned second team All-League honors.

The Bulldogs also had sophomore Drew LaGreca receive Honorable Mention.

Wilson Honorees
Wilson had a trio of second team All-League honorees including senior outfielder Brady Seeley, sophomore infielder Logan Held and freshman infielder Wyatt Sherman.

Newfane Honorees
Newfane junior infielder Matt Kline earned second team All-League honors.

The Panthers also had senior Tristan Smith receive Honorable Mention.

Nearly 20 spring sports varsity teams from Orleans County’s five high schools have earned New York State High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Team Awards by compiling a composite average of at least 90.

Albion has three honored teams including Softball, Tennis and Girls Track.

Holley also has three honorees including Girls Track, Tennis and Softball.

Kendall has four honored teams including Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Girls Track.

Lyndonville has two honorees Softball and Girls Track.

Medina leads the way with six honorees including Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Lacrosse, Boys Track and Girls Track.

Neighboring Roy-Hart has four honorees including Baseball, Softball, Tennis and Girls Track.

Barker also has a quartet of honorees including Softball, Tennis, Boys Track and Girls Track.

Rounding out the N-O schools Akron, Newfane and Wilson each have six honorees.

Akron has Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Flag Football, Boys Track and Girls Track.

Newfane has Baseball, Softball, Girls Lacrosse, Tennis, Unified Basketball and Girls Track.

Wilson has Baseball, Softball, Boys Lacrosse, Tennis, Boys Track and Girls Track.

Roy-Hart, which finished in the runner-up spot at 10-2, has placed four players on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League baseball squad.

The Rams are represented by senior outfielder/pitcher Gavin Heideman, senior infielder/pitcher Isaac Smith, senior infielder Sean Mettler and sophomore pitcher/outfielder Jared Hy.

Heideman and Mettler are both repeat first team honorees.

Heideman registered 70 strikeouts in 32 innings on the mound. At the plate he hit .259 with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 11 RBIs.

Smith hit .429 with 8 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs and 32 RBIs. On the mound he had 41 strikeouts in 28 innings of work.

Mettler hit .308 with 2 doubles, 3 triples and 10 RBIs.

Hy had 42 strikeouts in 32 innings of work on the mound. At the plate he hit .385 with 9 RBIs.

The Rams also had senior outfielder Evan Poeller and freshman outfielder Henry Snyder earn second team All-League honors.

In addition, sophomore Will Bundrock received Honorable Mention.
