Jr. Wilson scored a narrow win and Banes had a 12 run victory in Medina Women’s Softball action Monday evening.

Jr. Wilson’s held off a comeback by White Birch winning 15-14 Monday evening in women’s A Division.

Jr Wilson’s scored 4 in in the first inning on a double from Sara Flansburg and triple by Stormi Beach and 3 more runs in the 3rd on a double from Jessica Rosenbeck, home run from Flansburg and a double by Alyssa Romarge.

White Birch scored 3 in the 1st, 3 in the 4th, and 7 in the bottom of the 7th, leaving the winning run stranded on second.

Mallory Albone had 4 hits, while Aubrey and Anna Lewis each finished with 3 hits for White Birch. Ella Lewis, Maddy Boyle, Kenzie Muck, and Bekah Hoffee each added 2 hits.

Rosenbeck, Flansburg, Beach, Romarge and Jaclyn Rodriguez all had 3 hits for Junior Wilson’s, while Jodi Zacher, Bri Guzdek, Butchie Stockwell and Chasity Chinn all chipped in with hits.

Junior Wilson’s is now 5-1 in the A League division

A big 7 run first inning on a single Connie Heschke, double by Jami Chatt, RBI single by Lindsay Chatt, RBI double by Morgan Alllis, RBI single by Sue Seefeldt along with singles by Amy Lavender and Rileigh McCabe and RBI singles by Teri Schrlau, Patti Page and  Connie Heschke sparked Banes to the 14-2 win over Parkitects.

Banes also had a 4 run fourth inning on a single by Morgan Allis, double Kathy Allen and  RBI singles by Sue Seefeldt and Amy Lavender, single by Teri Schrlau and RBI singles by Patti Page and Connie Heschke

Connie Heschke finished with 5 hits, Jami Chatt 3 hits including a double, Rileigh McCabe 3 hits and Patti Page 3 hits.

Banes is now 4-2.

Undefeated (12-0) champion Medina has placed four players on the first team of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League baseball squad.

The Mustangs quartet includes senior outfielder/pitcher Vinny Gray, junior shortstop/pitcher Aidan Papaj, junior pitcher/shortstop Preston Woodworth and junior first baseman Cam Fike.

Gray, Papaj and Woodworth are all repeat first team honorees.

Papaj, who was named N-O Player of the Year hit .507 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 30 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. On the mound, he posted an 8-1 overall record and had 112 strikeouts in 59.2 innings of work.

Woodworth went 10-1 overall on the mound and had 132 strikeouts in 69.1 innings of work. At the plate he hit .400 with 14 doubles, 29 RBIs and 16 stolen bases.

Gray hit .299 with 4 doubles, 2 triples, 15 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. On the mound he went 4-0 with 36 strikeouts.

Fike hit .317 with 6 doubles, 2 triples and 22 RBIs.

Medina also had a pair of second team honorees in junior catcher Hadrian Batista and junior second baseman Carlos Doval.

In addition, the Mustangs had senior third baseman Jimmy Dieter and senior outfielder Kolton Fletcher receive Honorable Mention.

The N-O title was the third in a row and the sixth in the last seven seasons for the Mustangs.

Holley nipped host Cal-Mum 1-0 in a Rochester District Youth Soccer League girls U18 Division game this evening.

Ava Mosier scored the lone goal for Holley off an assist from Kyla Burne.

Zoey Warner made 6 saves to earn the shutout in goal as Burne, Aiyana Stevens, Riley Sweet and Brianna Tomasino anchored the defense.

Batavia 4, Albion 1
Batavia downed visiting Albion 4-1 in an U18 game Sunday evening.

Lena Grillo scored the Albion goal.

Improving to 4-0, the Albion 14U baseball team downed host Cal-Mum 5-2 in a GLOW League game this evening.

Albion scored a quick run in the first inning on a double by Lukas Snyder and an error.

Two runs in the fourth inning on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Jackson Frasier then put Albion on top to stay. A single by Brycen Potter and an error set up the opportunity.

Albion added insurance runs in the sixth inning on a groundout and in the seventh on a wild pitch.

Potter, Jace DiMatteo and Brady Furness combined for the win on the mound registering 8 strikeouts.

Elks/Rotary closed out the Albion Midget League regular season with a 5-0 win over Elba 1 this evening as Remi Ebbs pitched a no hitter with 15 strikeouts.

Kayden Donnelly had 4 hits, including a pair of doubles, and Cody Snyder an RBI triple to lead the Elks/Rotary offense as Ryan Coots, Mason McDaniels and Josh Mengs each added a hit.

Elks/Rotary finishes the regular season at 10-4.

Two local sophomore pitchers – Lyndonville’s Arnie Sturtevant and Barker’s Madyson Flint – have earned spots on the All State softball squad.

Sturtevant has been named to the Class D second team and Flint to the Class C fourth team.

Sturtevant registered 124 strikeouts and had a 1.338 earned run average in 104.2 innings of work in the circle. At the plate she hit .506 with 13 doubles, 5 triples, 4 home runs and 35 RBIs.

Flint had 183 strikeouts and a 1.96 earned run average in 104.1 innings of work. At the plate she hit .395 with 10 doubles, 2 triples and 16 RBIs.

State champion Oakfield-Alabama has placed three players on the Class D team including first team honorees sophomore pitcher Savannah Durham and junior second baseman Raine Denny along with third team selection senior shortstop Emma Thompson. Durham was also named Class D Co-Player of the Year,

A trio of Kendall players have been been honored by being named to the Section V Class C2 baseball team.

The Eagles honorees include senior third baseman/pitcher Vinnie D’Agostino, senior pitcher/first baseman Nic Cole, and junior first baseman/pitcher CJ D’Agostino.

Kendall mentor Tige Noni was named Section V Class C2 Coach of the Year.

Vinnie D’Agostino, who was named Class C2 Player of the Year, hit .505 with 12 double, 4 triples, 3 home runs and 36 RBIs. On the mound he pitched 51.1 innings and had 80 strikeouts and a 0.955 earned run average.

Cole pitched 62.2 innings, registered 95 strikeouts and had a 0.894 ERA. At the plate, he had 4 doubles and drove in 22 runs.

CJ D’Agostino hit .452 and had 9 doubles, 5 triples, 2 home runs and 24 RBIs. He also pitched 34 innings and had 56 strikeouts and a 1.835 ERA.

Cole and Vinnie D’Agostino are also two-time Genesee Region League All-Stars. CJ D’Agostino was earned G-R All-Star honors this season.

Vinnie D’Agostino was also named G-R Player of the Year.

Kendall, which went 24-3 on the season, captured the Section V Class C2 championship for the second year in a row. The Eagles went on to win Class C regional and state semifinal games to earn a spot in the state finals.

Completing a 13-0 regular season, Sandstone downed Carlton 13-1 in an Albion Midget League 12U game Saturday.

Barre also scored a pair of wins, 14-0 over Vets and 20-4 over Elks/Rotary, and Elks/Rotary nipped Vets 1-0 in other Midget action.

Giavani LaMartina had a double, triple and home run, Dominic Westlund 4 hits, Nikko Russo and Bryce Saxton 3 hits each and Jace Torres 2 to lead the offense for Sandstone.

A home run by LaMartina, a triple by Russo and a double by Saxton highlighted a 5 run first inning which put Sandstone on top to stay.

On the mound, Russo registered 9 strikeouts.

Barre 14, Vets 0
The Barre Cubs 12U earned a 14–0 victory over Vets behind a strong combined pitching performance from Aiden Spamer and Jacob Knowlton who held Vets scoreless while striking out 11 batters.

Offensively, the Cubs collected 18 hits, led by Hudson Armer, Finley Baird and Easton Neri with three hits each and highlighted by Spamer’s inside-the-park home run.

Barre pulled away with a seven-run fifth inning to cap off a complete team win.

BBarre posted a 20–4 victory over Elk/Rotary with a balanced effort at the plate and on the mound.

The Cubs racked up 15 hits and drew 14 walks, with Knowlton Baird, Neri and Vincent Monacelli all collecting multiple hits, while Hudson Armer Spamer and Neri drove in key runs during a six-run sixth inning.

Finley earned the win with nine strikeouts over four innings, and Hudson closed the game with two scoreless innings, striking out three to seal the victory.

Remi Ebbs hit a two-run homer for Elks/Rotary.

A triple by Greyson Roberts drove in the lone run for Elks/Rotary.

Roberts also registered 11 strikeouts in 4 innings of work on the mound while Ebbs fanned 5 in 2 innings.

Kayden Donnelly chipped in with 3 hits.

Medina’s 15U baseball team earned a split of a doubleheader today defeating the Lockport Lions 9-5 but losing to the Orchard Park Warriors 8-3.

Evan Collins and Jacob Duffina both had a pair of hits and Brayden LaMartina triple to highlight the offense for Medina.

Leading by a narrow 2-1 margin, Medina pulled away by scoring twice in the fourth inning on an error and an RBI single by Collins, twice in the fifth on a two-run single by Zach Graham and then 3 times in the sixth on a ground out, an error and a wild pitch.

Orchard Park 8, Medina 3
Trailing 2-0, Orchard Park rallied into the lead for good on a three-run double by Billy Battleson in the fourth inning.

The Warriors tacked on 2 runs in the sixth on a passed ball and a wild pitch and then three more in the seventh on a bases loaded walk, a hit batter and a passed ball.

Medina took an early 2-0 lead by scoring twice in the third inning on an error, a walk, an RBI groundout off the bat of Kaiden Hockenbery, a single by Mason Mikulec and an error.

Medina’s only other run came in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Brayden Calabro.

Defensively for Medina Mikulec teamed up with Graham and Viktor Snyder to turn a double play in the sixth inning.

Medina is now 4-4.

Lou Gehrig 4, Medina 3
Playing their third game of the day, Medina 15U dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to Lou Gehrig late this afternoon.

Graham had a two-run double in the fourth inning for Medina which followed a single by Snyder and a double by Calabro.

Medina’s only other run came in the seventh on a ground out off the bat of Collins.

Three Kendall players have earned Genesee Region League softball All-Star honors.

The trio includes senior catcher Brooke Rodas, sophomore shortstop Izzy D’Agostino and sophomore first baseman Teagan Shaw.

All three are repeat All-Star honorees.

In addition, senior outfielder Alea Barrett and junior outfielder Sophia Picardo have earned Honorable Mention.

Rodas hit .371 with 5 doubles, 4 triples, 4 home runs and 29 RBIs. On defense, she had 68 assists and threw out 25 baserunners.

D’Agostino hit .463 with 8 doubles, 6 triples, 24 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. Defensively, she had a .929 fielding percentage with 93 assists and 25 putouts.

Shaw hit .520 with 13 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs and 43 RBIs. On defense she had a .950 fielding percentage with 68 putouts and 15 assists.

Holley sophomore pitcher Madison Bonacci also received Honorable Mention.
