Marie B. Tortorice
Marie B. Tortorice, 95, of Albion, passed away March 23, 2019. She was born Jan. 16, 1924 in Bennington, N.Y. to the late Clarence and Minnie (Ike) Bender.
Marie was a retiree from Albion Correctional, where she was a corrections officer. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, and vacationing at various places.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Nunzio “Torchy,” in January 1991; and her siblings, James Bender, Harold Bender and Eva Lyons; and granddaughter, Sandra Lynn Tortorice.
Marie is survived by her sons, Tom (Carole), Richard (Chantal) and James (Janine); 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sat., March 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Merrill Grinnell Funeral Home, note address: 21 West Ave., Albion NY 14411, where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Merle K. Ricci
Merle “Mike” Kubica Ricci, 83, of Carlton, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2019 at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born to Alfred and Grace Fay Kubica on July 8, 1935 in Rochester, N.Y.
Academically, Mike earned a master’s degree and taught at various levels of education over the years. Additionally, she owned and operated several family businesses. She is perhaps best known for Ricci Meadows Golf Club.
Mike was an experienced seamstress. In her younger years, she sewed wedding gowns and, in retirement, she made several machine-embroidered quilts. Mike had numerous and diverse hobbies. She was a world traveler, an avid reader, and one who enjoyed playing poker. At the age of 63, she received her charter captain’s license. She was most easily described as a cross between Auntie Mame and Scarlett O’Hara.
Mike is survived by her daughter, Hollis (Gordon) Canham; her son, Charles (Sarah) Ricci; and a “bonus” daughter, Cathie Barry; three grandchildren, Andrew Canham, Peter Ricci II and Mikken Canham; three great-grandchildren, Charles Dan Ricci II, Danielle Ricci and Loryn Canham; several nieces and nephews.
Mike was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Peter Ricci; sisters, Audrey Roosa and Fay Roberta Ciarico; and a brother, Paul Kubica.
The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, on Thu., March 28 from 3 to 6 p.m. Immediately following visitation, a wake will be held at Albion Elks Lodge #1006, 428 W. State St., Albion.

Judith S. (Laubacher) Gott
Judith S. (Laubacher) Gott, 53, a former Albion resident, passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Medina on Feb. 28, 1966, grew up in Albion, and lived in Houston for the past 29 years.
She loved working in the mortgage industry, along with being a devoted mother and grandmother. She cherished her family and friends, who meant the world to her. She always hoped and prayed to win the lottery so she could take care of those who surrounded her.
Judi is predeceased by her daughter, Sarah Laubacher; and her father, Carl Laubacher Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Al Gott; mother, Donna (Stahl) Laubacher; siblings, Andrew (Tayna) Laubacher, Denise Laubacher, Kathleen Ashbery, Marsha (Gordon) Hutchinson and CJ (Allison) Laubacher; grandchildren, Tristan, Mackenzie, Caiden and Parker Tower; two stepchildren, Jennifer and Brandon Gott; two step-grandchildren, Natalie and Nicole Gott; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Judi’s life with family and friends at Tillman’s Village Inn on Sat., April 6 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be a 10 a.m. memorial service on June 22 at Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish in Albion.

James Rush

Jim was a master fisherman, an electrician, and a great baseball player. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Jim served in the U.S. Navy.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Valerie (Elwell) Rush of Albion; sons, Thomas James (Carmen) Rush of Charlotte, N.C., Michael John (Megan) Rush of Barre Center, Michael (Danielle) Blake of Clarendon, and Steven Blake of Henrietta; grandchildren, Aiden Rush, Owen Rush, Audrey Blake, Annabelle Rush, Brinn Rush, Lilianna Rush and Nolan Blake; brothers, Stephen (Heather) Rush of Florida and Brian (Pamela) Rush of Waterport; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frances A. Benben

Fran graduated from Akron High School and went to work for Sylvania in Batavia. On Oct. 25, 1952, she married the late Stanley P. Benben, and together they made their home in Medina and raised three children. From 1968 to 1990, she owned and operated Fran’s Fashion on Main Street in Medina. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and cards, and she was an avid baseball fan.
Fran is survived by her children, Paul J. (Sandra) Benben of Medina and Pam Owen of Los Angeles; a granddaughter, Cristy (Caleb) Rhodes of Meadville, Pa.; a great-grandson, Gavin Rhodes of Meadville; four siblings, Betty (Lawrence) Pafk of Akron, Esther (Richard) Brown of Middleport, Richard (Joanne) Wagner of Batavia, and Nancy Forbes of Lockport; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Fran is predeceased by her daughter, Denise Benben; two grandsons, James Benben and Graham Owen; and three siblings, Carol Schubel, Elmer Wagner Jr. and Lois Ayler.

Anthony R. Albanese

Tony lived in this area all of his life and was a 1977 graduate of Albion Central School. He was a member of Holy Family Parish/St. Joseph’s Church, St. Mary’s Athletic Club and St. Mary’s Archer’s Club, and he was a social member of the V.F.W. Tony was employed by the Village of Albion as a caretaker at Mt. Albion Cemetery for 32 years. Tony was an easygoing, fun-loving friend to all, who always had a smile and enjoyed life. He enjoyed many friends, good food, and scratch-offs.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Jan) Albanese and Michael (Danielle) Albanese; sister, Maria (Vernon) Spicer; nieces and nephews, Chrissie (Scott) Ladd, Andi Albanese, Eric (Michelle) Albanese, Brian Albanese and Nicholas Spicer; several cousins; special cousin, Dorothy Albanese; and dear friend, Barb Bukiewicz.

Dominic T. Anthony

A former member of Kendall United Methodist Church, Dominic was active in Bus Ministries throughout the area. He loved Bible studies by the waterfalls, cooking, volunteering at The Woodlands in Holley, rapping, and writing poetry. He also loved the outdoors and his puppies, and he enjoyed a humorous sense of fashion. Dominic was always up for a new adventure and, if you were going through a tough time, he would always be there to give you a hug when you needed it the most. His family described him as the most giving man they’ve ever known who would give you his last $5 and the shirt off his back, even if he didn’t have any money or any clothes. He truly loved his family and was overheard telling someone that Jamie had taught him how to be a “soccer mom.”
Mr. Anthony was predeceased by his sister, Melissa Jean; and his “Nonnie,” Santa Anthony.
He is survived by his loving companion, Jamie “Wifey” Wilkins; her children, Bailey, Collin and Madison Papaj, Michael and Emily Torres; his uncles, Tino Anthony, Joseph Anthony and Jerome Squadrito; his aunts, Joanna Interlini, Tina Anthony, Maria Anthony, Karen Anthony and Kim Squadrito; as well as many cousins.

Charles R. Wilson Jr.
Charles R. Wilson Jr., 77, of the Town of Shelby, entered into rest peacefully on Wed., March 20, 2019 at home, with his loving family by his side.
Born May 17, 1941 in Clintonville, W.Va., he was a son of the late Charles R. and Bertie A. (Harford) Wilson Sr. Charles graduated from Greenbrier High School in the class of 1958. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. Charles married the former Cecelia Fuller on Oct. 12, 1963, and together they raised a family of five children. Charles worked for Harrison Radiator Division of G.M.C., from which he retired in 1992. He was past president and line officer of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Company, where he was a proud member for over 50 years. Charles was also a past president of the Orleans County Firemen’s Association. He was a Town of Shelby councilman, a member of the Genesee Valley Metal Detectors Association, past president of the Gold Prospectors Association of Western New York, and president of the South Forty R.V. Association in Tucson, Ariz.
Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, metal detecting, and gold prospecting. He enjoyed working with young people in his community and sharing his love for the outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be remembered fondly for always making those around him laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia A. Wilson; his five children, Shelly (Howard) Daggs of Waterport, Darlene (Charles) Hartway of Medina, Charles (Carrie) Wilson III of Medina, William (Jennifer) Wilson of Medina and Susan (Dan) Egan of Forestville; nineteen grandchildren, Nathanial (Megan) Hartway, Justin (Kristin) Hartway, Katie (Alex) Misiti, Travis Hartway, Bailey (Robert) Bannister, Franklin Hartway, Martha Hartway, Howard (Kimberly) Daggs IV, Jennifer (Matt) Gage, Emma Wilson, Luke Wilson, Parker Wilson, Oliver Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Alexander Wilson, Alyson McAdoo, Michael McAdoo, Jackson Egan and Cecelia Egan; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Dwight (Ruth) Wilson of Canandaigua; and many dear family members and friends, especially the extended Fuller family.
A Celebration of Life Service and dinner in memory of Charles will be held on Fri., March 29 at 6 p.m. at the Shelby Volunteer Fire Hall, 4695 S. Gravel Road, Medina.

Kester L. Baker
Kester L. Baker, 65, of Medina, entered into rest on Tue., March 19, 2019 at Buffalo General Hospital.
Born Jan. 28, 1954 in Malone, N.Y., Kester was a son of the late Clarence and Louva (Jock) Baker. He graduated from Brushton-Moira High School in the class of 1973. Kester worked for several years for Alliance Tool & Die in Rochester. He then worked for Fisher-Price in Medina, and finally for Birds Eye/Bonduelle in Brockport, retiring in 2017. He was a member of United Methodist Church of the Abundant Harvest in Knowlesville, where he served as a church trustee.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda J. (Frederick) Baker, whom he married on June 21, 1986; brother, Steve Baker; sister, Rosalie Grinwald; sister-in-law, Tracie Wilson; brothers-in-law, Roger Frederick and Brian Castrechino; nieces, Raychelle, Amber, Trinity, Krystal, Penny, Julie and Rose Marie; nephews, Robert, Tyler and Ryan; and his dog, Jilly.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Horace, Wesley and Clifford Baker.
His Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sat., May 4 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of the Abundant Harvest Fellowship Hall, 3622 Knowlesville Road, Knowlesville NY 14479.

Douglas V. Hart
Douglas V. Hart, 65, of Waterport, died March 19, 2019 in Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born Nov. 24, 1953 in Batavia to Vincent and Florence Hart and lived in this area most of his life.
Doug was a member of St. Mary’s Archer’s Club and the proprietor of Hart Farms. He enjoyed repairing and fixing houses, working in his garden, and watching old Westerns and professional wrestling on TV. Doug had a special affinity for and loved all of his cats.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Crystal, whom he married Nov. 11, 2001; his son, Tim (Kate) Lashway of Rochester; two grandchildren, Ethan and Mason; as well as two sisters.
There will be no calling hours. Doug’s services and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Delbert E. Lonnen
Delbert E. “Del” Lonnen, 73, of Albion, died unexpectedly at his home on March 18, 2019. He was born June 15, 1945 in Albion, a son of the late Walter and Saloma (Seeley) Lonnen, and he lived in this area all of his life.
Del was a very active member of Victory Baptist Church. He retired from Riccelli Enterprises, where he drove trucks for many years. Del enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and spending time on the water fishing, but, most importantly, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He was predeceased by his brother, Billy; his grandson, Brian; his granddaughter, Heather; and his brother-in-law, Leo Spohr.
Del is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gloria; his sons, Dan (Lisa) Lonnen of Waterport, Alex “Pete” (Linda) Lonnen of Middleport, Brian (Nikki) Lonnen of Carlton, and Scott Lonnen of Albion; stepsons, Joseph (Mary Pat) Brennan of Buffalo and Patrick (Jennifer) Brennan of Spencerport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Rose (Ernest) Stephens, Mary Ann (John) Buckland, Leona (Al) Quackenbush, and Alice Miller; brothers, George (Cindy) Lonnen, Ken (Linda) Lonnen, and Harry “Gene” Lonnen; sisters-in-law, Fran Spohr and Barbara (Darryl) Szklany; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Percy Wilson Baney
Percy Wilson Baney, 79, of Monterey, Tenn., passed away March 15, 2019 at home, with family by his side.
He was born March 16, 1939 in Sunbury, Pa., son of the late Paul E. Baney and Jennie E. (Loss) Baney. He worked many years at Avon Injected Rubber & Plastics in Albion, and at Lamont’s Fruit Farm. He loved to be outdoors hunting, or sitting on the porch feeding the squirrels and birds while drinking instant Maxwell House coffee, and he enjoyed rooting for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen (Whiting) Baney; his four children, Tammy (Paul) Ward of St. Cloud, Fla., Marguerite (James) Davies II of Medina, Tanya (Warren) Bradtmuller of Bristol, Vt., and William (Angie) Baney of Monterey, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Taylor, Audrey, Lea, Cody, Shane, Layla and Justin; brothers and sisters, Grant Baney, Bruce Baney, Ruth Knight and Mildred Thom; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wayne Whiting, Karen Mrzywka, Suzanne Neal and Valerie Daniels; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a beloved companion, his cat, “Boots.”
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Myrtle Smith, Mary Swiercznski, Christabelle Loss, Emma Baney, Dorothy Keister, John Baney and Raymond Baney; brother-in-law, Roger Whiting; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Stringer.
As per Percy’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A celebration of Percy’s life will take place in July.

Kathleen A. Webber

Kathleen graduated from Medina High School in 1961. On June 2, 1962, she married Ronald Webber, and together they raised three children. Kathleen worked for Wolcott’s Dairy and Fisher-Price and, lastly, was employed at the Country Club Restaurant in Medina. In her early years, she enjoyed traveling in her motorhome and was an avid reader. Most of all, Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially at school events.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ronald Webber; two daughters, Laurie (David) Moden and Mary Beth (Mark) Klotzbach, both of Medina; grandchildren, Ryan (Christina) Blount, Kaitlyn (Kyle Radka) Blount, Margaret and Joshua Klotzbach; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Riley Radka and Charlie Blount; several nieces and nephews; and granddogs, Indira and Hank.
She is predeceased by her son, Michael Webber; and a brother, Thomas Nudd.

Joan A. Thiel

Joan was a lifetime member of the PTA and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and a leader for the Girl Scouts while her children were growing up. While living in Virginia, Joan volunteered at Hospice and was also integral in starting the library for the Virginia prison system, where she obtained books for the inmates. She was a Scrabble fanatic who loved reading, gardening and animals, even raising baby raccoons a number of times. Joan enjoyed traveling, and she went across the U.S. and Europe three times.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her half brother, Donald Schwierkert.
She is survived by her children, Warren (Colleen Balkin) Thiel of Murray, Wayne (Louellen) Thiel of Norwich, and LuAnn (Robin) Roberts of Kent; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Jacob, Daniel, Tracey and Emily; 11 great-grandchildren; and her many friends, special caregivers, and Scrabble protégés.

Roger L. Norton

Roger’s joy and love in life was his family. He found pleasure in hunting, fishing, and stock car racing. He will be remembered for his kindness and his ability to bring a smile to your face.
Roger was predeceased by his father, Leo T. Norton; mother, Beverly A. (McMaster) Norton; sister, Cheryl R. (Norton) Metz; wife, Teresa M. Norton; and son, Thomas M. Norton.
Roger is survived by his son, Shane (Kathy) Norton; daughter, Megan (Kurt) Lett; sisters, Sharon L. Brown, Laurie (Todd) Norton-Smith, and Penny A. McBain; stepchildren, David Robb and Kimberly Albanese; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and nine grandchildren.

Neal Alan Robishaw
Neal Alan Robishaw, 84, of Holley, passed away March 13, 2019 at the Martin Linsin Hospice Residence. He was born May 26, 1934 in Albion, a son of the late Howard and Evelyn (Robinson) Robishaw.
Neal was a good man. His life was filled with carpentry skills, helping others with his ability to fix anything. He loved to create things, including building his own home and rebuilding a cottage into a home. Neal retired from Eastman Kodak Company. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Jewell Buckman Post #529 American Legion, and the Murray-Holley Historical Society. Neal was always referred to as kind and gentle, but most of all as a loving family man.
Neal was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Fleth Degan.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Robishaw; children, Sharon (Brad) Kuehne of Islip Terrace, N.Y. and David (Ruth) Robishaw of Clarendon; five grandchildren, Jillian (Eric) Kuehne, Megan (Dan) Kuehne, Kevin Kuehne, Alex Robishaw and Seth Robishaw; brother, Charles (Carol) Robishaw; special friends, Ralph Gleason and Jack Kohmann; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bernard J. Robertson
Bernard J. Robertson, of Albion and formerly of Holley, died March 13 at the age of 95. He was born July 12, 1923 in Holley to Jesse and Minnie Robertson and was a lifetime resident of this area.
Bernie was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Submarine Campaign from 1940 to 1945. He also worked as an experienced lens assembler for Bausch and Lomb in Rochester. He exited the corporate workforce and started and ran a successful plumbing and heating business, servicing Orleans County for his remaining years.
Mr. Robertson was predeceased by his wife, Ruby.
He is survived by his son, Russell (Louise) Robertson of Holley; his grandson, Jeffrey (Candace) Robertson of Albion; his niece, Susan (Thomas) Persia of Clarendon; his nephew, Roy Robertson; as well as several cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Bernie’s graveside service on Mon., March 18 at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Albion Cemetery Veteran’s Companion Section.

Margaret Ann DeGraff
Margaret Ann DeGraff, of Brockport and formerly of Albion, passed away March 12, 2019. She was born May 2, 1971 in Albion to the late Donald and Ella May (Hay) DeGraff.
Margaret enjoyed researching her family genealogy and making people laugh. She recently worked as a resident counselor at Villa of Hope in Rochester. Margaret was always good at helping and supporting people in need and cherished her role of being an “auntie” to her niece and nephew.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Susan (John) Steier of Albion; nephew and niece, Evan and Annalise Steier; uncle, Harold (Joanne) Hay of Batavia; cousins, David (Angela) Hay, Julie (Tedd) Olix and their children; as well as several other cousins and their families.
The family will receive friends on Mon., March 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion NY 14411, where her memorial service will be held Tue., March 19 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Robert P. Schuck
Robert P. Schuck, 57, of Medina, entered into rest on Tue., March 12, 2019 at Buffalo General Hospital.
Born Aug. 23, 1961 in Albion, Bob was a son of the late Arthur and Frances (Olsowski) Schuck. He worked for many years as a mechanic and as a salesman for Rent-A-Center in Medina. Bob was an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #28 in Medina and was also a district board member. He was an avid New York Giants fan who also enjoyed his extensive movie collection, watching wrestling and, especially, spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Bonnie Schuck; children, Sherry Boryszewski, Jennifer Schuck, Travis Schuck and Elijah Gotts; grandchildren, Cyaira Schuck, Trenton Deary, Brooklyn and Myra Seaman, Graycie Holmes and Harmoney Doxey; siblings, Marjorie Roundtree, Kathy Dickerson, Arthur (Venessa) Schuck Jr., Marion (Larry) Quill, Michael (June) Schuck, Randy Hoover, Edward Hoover, Kenny Hoover, Daniel Hoover and Joseph Quill; several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters in-law, Jeff (Sue) Luxon, Terry (Tammy) Luxon, Tammy (Ray) Luxon Chase and Sandra (Doug) Sitzer; and mother in-law, Loretta (Kenneth) Draper.

Carolyn A. Petkus
Carolyn A. Petkus, of Medina, entered into rest on her 80th birthday, Tue., March 12, 2019, at her home.
Born March 12, 1939 in Medina, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Thomas and Amelia (Castricone) Vendetta. She graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1957 and went on to graduate from business school in Rochester. Carolyn was an animal lover who especially loved her cats. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her loving grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy (Mike Lyons) Petkus-Barna and Suzanne Eaton; five grandchildren, Adam Eaton, Lindsay (Rich Rossow) Eaton, Morgan Eaton, Clay Thomas Barna and Kyle Barna; four siblings, Thomas (Joanne) Vendetta, Richard (Audrey) Vendetta, Joann Beyer and Francis (Debbie) Vendetta; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sun., March 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Mon., March 18 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Medina.
