Robert Burgio
Robert “Bob” Burgio, 84, passed away peacefully on Thu., March 7, 2019 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born to Gasper and Esther Burgio on Aug. 20, 1934 in Depew.
Bob was blessed with 47 years of marriage to Betty (Miller) Burgio (1931-2003). Bob and Betty worked side-by-side at their business, Burgio Tire Company, before Bob retired after 52 years and passed the company along to their grandsons. Together, Bob and Betty had two daughters, Julie Procaccini and Joya Burgio; four grandchildren, Brandon Fitch, Nick Fitch, Liz Shinn and Giovanni Procaccini; and two great-grandchildren, TJ Truskey and Jameson Friars.
Bob was full of life, and he found much happiness with Donna (Munzel) Quiett-Burgio following their marriage in July 2014. He shared many memories with his stepfamily, which includes his stepchildren, Connie Quiett (Scott) Turner of Schuylerville, N.Y., James Quiett of Jacksonville, Fla., and Andrew (Sonia) Quiett of Melbourne, Fla.; and his step-grandchildren, Dillon Quiett of Barker, Triston Turner of Rochester, Kristiana and Alexander Quiett of Jacksonville, Fla.
If you asked Bob’s grandsons about him, they would say, “Grandpa was a different breed, and they don’t make that model any more.” If you asked his family for one thing they will miss most, they definitely would say his hugs. He had a distinctive sense of humor enjoyed by all who knew him. He was always either dreaming up or working on one of his projects, spanning from building a treehouse, stone and tile work, carpentry, the “pool room,” repurposing antiques, and building/adding to his house. He really was a jack of all trades. He took great pride in his ever-growing display of Christmas lights and his meticulous yard. He had an enormous heart, and he received much pleasure from giving to those in need and surprising his family and friends with gifts of love. He took pride in his Italian heritage, right down to his “famous” meatballs and sauce. He had a stellar work ethic, and he had so much energy that most found it impossible to keep up with him. And let’s not forget Annie and Precious, his furry little Pomeranians, who he adored and spoiled.
Services will be held Sat., March 9 at 11 a.m. at East Shelby Community Bible Church, 5278 E. Shelby Road, Medina, with lunch immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Shelby Community Bible Church, or to a favorite charity.
