Doris M. Lusk
Doris M. Lusk, 85, of Holley, N.Y. and Lebanon, Ohio, passed away Nov. 30, 2019. She was born Dec. 19, 1933 in Aberdeen, Wash., a daughter of the late William and Christine (Harder) DeVerna, and she lived in the Holley area most of her life. Dory served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. She loved horses and all kinds of animals big and small. Dory and her family enjoyed traveling and would drive out west every three years, taking a different route each time. She loved teaching children about horses at the Pony Club through the local 4-H program. Dory will be remembered as a kind, loving, caring, giving, strong-willed and opinionated woman.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Daniel, in 2003; and by several siblings.
Doris is survived by her loving children, April Lusk of Rochester, N.Y. and Daniel (Jacqui) Lusk of Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler (Keri) Shearer and Laci; great-grandchildren, Madison and Ryan; brothers, Melvin and Floyd DeVerna; brother-in-law, Bud Donner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert D. Wright

Robert was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ethel; grandfather, Charles; and uncles, Billy, Wayne and Richard.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Stacey; mother, Etta (Dominick) Wright; father-in-law, George (Kathy) Burns; mother-in-law, Sunday (Dennis) Carter; siblings, Dawn (Ronnie) Wright, Lisa (Nelson) Wright, Roxanne (Tommy) Wright and Joey Wright; children, Khrystta (Bryan) Conrad, Daniel (Autumn) Stanley and Alexis Taylor; grandchildren, “JoJo,” Emmabelle and Samantha Elaine; uncle, Charles; nieces, Dannielle, Maya, Michaela and Marissa; nephews, Roger, Larry and Jovani; and beloved dog, Nanook. Robert also had a large and cherished group of friends and extended family.

Patricia R. Sargent
Patricia R. Sargent, of Albion, passed away Nov. 26, 2019 with family by her side. Born Oct. 15, 1937 in Albion, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Gurzynski) Rice.
A lifetime resident of Albion, Pat worked for a short time at Bemis Brothers Bag Company before marrying Carl H. Sargent in 1960. She then devoted herself to her family with love, patience, caring, and a witty sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband, Carl “Sonny;” son, Kevin (Pam) Sargent of Albion; daughter, Karla (Dave) Goddard of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; granddaughter, Stefanie (James) Peruzzini of Albion; great-granddaughters, Kendall and Kamryn; grandson, Phillip Sargent of Albion; dear sisters, Virginia DeFilipps and Joann D’Andrea; many loved nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, William (Barbara) Sargent; and sister-in-law, Shirley Bielak.
Patricia is predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Boccaccio; and brothers, John and Leonard Rice.
A Mass will be heard at Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, W. Park Street, Albion, on Sat., Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. Private memorial services will be at the convenience of the family.

Shirley Ferris Reed
Shirley Ferris Reed, 76, of Point Breeze, passed away Nov. 26, 2019 at United Memorial Hospital in Batavia. She was born May 6, 1943 in Brockport to the late James and Stella (Tiberio) Ferris.
Shirley was very athletic and was an avid golfer who achieved three holes-in-one in a 12-month span. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her brother, James; and stepson, Randall.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Ralph “RC” Reed; children, Kevin Hurlburt and Kelly Ann (Matt) Demitro; grandchildren, Joseph, Jakob and Jaysa; stepdaughter, Cheryl Reed; step-grandchildren, Samuel, Ryan and Kyler; nieces, Carson (Nick) Zeolla and Jane Ferris; great-nephews, James, Cade and Aiden; sister-in-law, Linda (Richard) Olson; and close friends, Jim (Paula) Bannister and Gerry (Beverly) Moore.

Maggie Kenward

She married Willie E. Taylor, and together they raised a family of 14 children. They moved to the area from West Virginia in the early 1950s, first to Kuckville and then to Middleport. Sadly, Willie died in 1969. A hardworking and loving mother, Maggie dedicated most of her life to raising her family. She was a great cook, and she enjoyed listening to gospel music, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Wayne Kenward; nine children, Anna (late Harold) Fidanza, Rosa (Ron) McCabe, Michael Taylor, Bruce (Patti) Taylor, Ronald Taylor, Jewell Taylor, Bernice Russell, Charlotte (Bud) Holler and Pamela (Ken Cornell) Cobb; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by five children, Billy Taylor, Eula Joe Miller, Robert Taylor, Dorothy Kim Crosby and Jerry Taylor.

Douglas O. Moore
Douglas O. Moore, 74, of Basom, entered into rest on Mon., Nov. 25, 2019 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina.
Born March 14, 1945 in Batavia, he was a son of the late Otha and Florence (Easton) Moore. Doug worked several years as a tow truck operator at Ron & Newt’s Sales & Service in Corfu.
He is survived by his brother, Wayne C. (Joan) Moore of Foley, Ala.; and two nephews.

Jean M. Herzog
Jean M. Herzog, 87, of Albion, passed away Nov. 25, 2019. She was born March 14, 1932 in Syracuse to the late Earl and Martha (Spinning) Ashton.
Jean enjoyed knitting and loved to donate the items that she knit. She was very loving and caring when it came to her family.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Richard, on Jan. 27, 2016; son, James, in 2013; grandson, Elijah; and siblings, Martha and Helen.
Jean is survived by her children, Richard (Donna), Linda (Doug) French, Deborah (George) Murillo, Charles (Deborah), Mary Clay, Anna (Michael) DiRisio, Paul (Cindy), and Ruth (Jeff) Lach; 31 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren with one more on the way; as well as one great-great-grandchild on the way.

Deborah Montello

Debbie was a member of Sheret Post #35 American Legion Auxiliary as well as the Orleans County American Legion Auxiliary. She also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, reading, and watching “her” soap operas.
Ms. Montello was predeceased by her father, Thomas Finnefrock; grandmother, Lillian Lindermuth; and aunt, Mickey Rocco.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Reid of Lyndonville and Ryan Wildschutz of Albion; mother, Beverly Reid; brother, John Smith; and niece, Taylor Smith.

Betty J. Ruppel

Betty was a member of the Gasport Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, for which she held numerous offices. She and her husband wintered in Florida, where she was a member of the Country Lake Ladies Club, providing holiday gifts for underserved children. Betty loved to crochet, knit, needlepoint, play bingo, garden, cook, play cards and camp. She had a seasonal campsite at Wildwood and Hartland Cove. She also enjoyed camping at Allegheny State Park and North Star Campground in Canada. Betty’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and she loved to bake Christmas cookies, make ornaments, and knit Christmas stockings for her family. She was the life of the party and loved dancing with her husband – the jitterbug was their dance. She loved spending time with her family. The greatest joy for her was her grandchildren. She lit up whenever they were near.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Jeffrey Lynn Ruppel and Daniel James Ruppel; and her sister, Peggy Ann Bulmer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Ruppel; daughters, Susan (Ted) Cloy and JoAnne (Matt) Frawley; grandchildren, Erin Marie Ruppel, Lynnell (Eric) Schreiber, Stephanie (Cody) Mangalsingh, Daniel (Lauren) Ruppel II, Jonathan Ruppel, Donald (Haylee) Cloy II and Vandra Ruppel; great-grandchildren, Lacey and Connor Schreiber, Cecilia Urena, Grant and Arianna Mangalsingh, Aubrey and Paytinn Cloy, Zoey and Carter Ruppel; brother, Clayton Roger Wakefield; close friends, Pat and Ike Rounds, and Mike and Mary Farina; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Laura J. Duffield
Laura J. Duffield, 43, of Albion, died Nov. 20, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness.
Laura was born July 21, 1976 in Medina to David and Marjorie (Herring) Duffield and lived in this area all of her life.
She is survived by her loving and devoted partner of more than 30 years, Hank Fearby; her daughters, Lisa (Jenna Reeb) Fearby of Gasport and Emily Fearby of Oakfield; her brother, David Duffield II of Rochester; and two nephews.

Eric N. Charache
Eric N. Charache, 35, of Wentworth, N.H., died suddenly Nov. 13, 2019. Born April 18, 1984, he was the son of Henry (Tracey Hendrick) Charache and Patricia (John) Vader. Eric grew up in Medina and attended Medina Central School. He graduated from IT Technical Institute in Getzville, N.Y. in 2006.
Eric enjoyed fishing, car races, and woodworking in his shop; but, most of all, he was an excellent father who loved his children deeply. He enjoyed spending all his time with them.
Eric was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Albert Carroll; and paternal grandparents, Ruth Dean and George Reid.
He is survived by his parents; maternal grandmother, Barbara Carroll; his wife, Misti Ann (Bent) Charache, whom he married Sept. 24, 2011; his children, Eric Jr., Aubree Charache, Maverick Charache, Richie Miller and Addie Miller; in-laws, Norman and Bonnie Bent; brother-in-law, Norman (Samantha) Bent Jr.; sister-in-law, Kit Bent; step-siblings, Andrew and Sean Hendrick, Kimberly (Randy) Taylor, and John (Mary Ellen) Vader Jr.; paternal uncles, Harry (Jen) Charache and Rick (Judy) Charache; paternal aunts, Sandy Nowicki and Vicki Charache; and maternal uncle, John (Barbara) Carroll.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 30 at Ridgeway Fire Hall, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Pastor Vincent Iorio and Kevin Lawson will be officiating.

David W. Tuttle

David grew up in Medina and graduated from Medina High School in 1966. He graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam with a bachelor’s degree in management and industrial engineering. He also received his master’s degree from Clarkson. David worked for Fisher-Price in East Aurora as an engineer for several years.
His desire and interest in interacting with people led him to begin his insurance career. He started with Allstate Insurance 42 years ago, in the days when Allstate had a booth in the Sears store. He went on to own his own agency in Lockport and, over the years, he received numerous awards from Allstate, including 1 in 100, Top Agent, Honor Ring, and 17 times National Conference. He was also a mentor to many agents in the area as they started out.
David had a lifelong passion for automobiles and owned many unusual autos. He was at one time involved with the raising, breeding and showing of dogs and Arabian horses. David had a zest for life and liked nothing better than talking to people and entertaining them with a list of jokes.
David is survived by his loving wife, Linda Shepherd Tuttle of Lockport; daughter, Katherine Tuttle of Middleport; brother, James (Gwendolen) Tuttle of Medina; niece, Julie (Jon) Schwartz of Connecticut; nephew, Matt (Rhonda) Tuttle of Florida; two stepsons, Anthony Kelly and David Kelly, both of West Seneca; stepdaughter, Laura (Matt) Davison of Lockport; step-niece, Tara White of Medina; step-nephew, Devon (Jennifer) Albone of Medina; and two step-granddaughters, Jessica and Kelly Davison.

Barbara A. Bujalski

She married Joseph Bujalski on July 18, 1957. They were married for 60 years. He preceded her in death.
Barbara was a longtime resident of Ridgeway. Raised by a hardworking dairy farming family, she attended Lyndonville schools and graduated from Medina High School in 1957. She loved roller skating, cheerleading, black licorice, the sunshine, music and dancing. She spent many years crocheting blankets and making macramé chairs for her loved ones. She made amazing pancakes and the best chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Barbara enjoyed many years of competitively showing horses with her husband and sons, but she will be most remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother with a generous and fun spirit. She sacrificially gave her time to create many wonderful memories with her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and they loved her dearly.
She was predeceased by her twin sister, Mary (Schmitt) Grosslinger; brother, Alfred Schmitt; and husband, Joseph Bujalski.
Surviving from this loving union are her sons, Joseph (Tammy) Bujalski and Stanley Bujalski; her grandchildren, Janeen (Jason) Benziger, J.J. (Nicole) Bujalski, Joshua (Amanda) Bujalski, Cody Bujalski and Alyx Bujalski; her great-grandsons, Jakob and James Benziger, and Brayden and Bentley Bujalski; her sister, Eleanor (Hermann) Pohl; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at West Ridgeway Cemetery. The date will be announced in the early spring.

Carlton Plummer Sr.

He and his brothers, Lee and Gary, grew up in Lyndonville, where Carlton’s passion for raising animals and taking care of the land was realized. His life’s work was dairy farming, and he served his community as the Future Farmers of America State Treasurer and as a longstanding member of the Lyndonville School Board. Carlton imparted his work ethic, his honesty, and his humble love of nature to his 10 children.
Carlton enjoyed a hot cup of coffee and a peanut butter sandwich after coming in from morning milking. He loved watching his grandchildren play and holding babies on Kendrick Road. He could be found tilling the garden with his team of horses or bringing the cows in from pasture with his favorite dog, Mickey. Carlton spent his free time picking out the perfect chopping block for his wife, Mary, and he enjoyed hunting, reading the newspaper, solving crossword puzzles, and watching Westerns. He was a kind, genuine, patient and generous man who will be missed greatly by everyone he knew.
Carlton is preceded in death by his father, Howard; mother, Marion; and brother, Gary.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Mary Dooley; brother, Lee (Val, Penny, Laurie); children, Carlton Jr. (Roxanne, Dylan and Evan), Courtney (Lisa, Jasmine, Joselyn), Jeffrey (Michelle, Michael, Nikki, Ryan), Todd (John, Chase), Russell (Alex and Peyton), Randall (Paige, Bailey, Shelby), Megan (William, Kendyll, Leigha), Ingrid, Martin (Jenna, Aubrey, Sylvia, Everett), and Gabriel (Jenna, Sylas, Mable, Eliza, Betty).
The family will be hosting a memorial service and celebration of his life at the Ridgeway Fire Hall at 3 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 23. This event is to celebrate the life of a farmer, and as such the family requests that friends and family dress comfortably to honor him.

Charles W. Grier

He attended Medina Central School. He worked as a cook for many local restaurants. Prior to his illness, Billy enjoyed camping and spending time with his friends and family. He always had a special place in his heart for dogs.
Billy was predeceased by his father, Bill.
He is survived by his mother, Linda J. Grier; children, Ryan W. Grier, Jenna J. Grier and Jacob W. Grier; granddaughter, Julianna; sister and brother-in-law, Daphne and Todd Hughes; nephews, Jason and Nicholas Hughes; great-nieces, McKinlee and Delaney Hughes; aunt and uncle, Peggy and Richard Furness; and many cousins, with whom he shared lots of great memories. He also leaves behind many great friends. It seems there was no one who wasn’t a friend of his. Billy was often described as having a great heart, and he was always there when you needed him.

Rev. John R. Klatt
The Rev. John R. Klatt, 66, of Lyndonville, died Nov. 13, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 21, 1953 in Medina, the son of Paul and Lois (Nobles) Klatt.
John attended Lyndonville High School, graduating in 1971. His education continued at the State University of New York at Alfred; Concordia College, Bronxville, N.Y.; Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Seminary in Exile (Seminex), St. Louis, Mo., where he received his Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained in 1981 and served as a Minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for 35 years. The congregations he served throughout New York State include Zion Lutheran Church in Frewsburg, Trinity Lutheran Church in Herkimer, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Redwood, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orleans Corners, All Saints Lutheran Church in Hamburg, St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Seneca, and Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda.
In early 2016, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, which he courageously fought into remission until his sudden death. This past August, he was blessed to have trekked across Iceland with the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma organization to raise money for finding a cure for this cancer. God, family and love were most important to him. He found joy in the outdoors, fishing, hunting and hiking.
His father, Paul H. Klatt, predeceases him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Bonnie; daughter, Jasmine (Bryan) Belflower; son, Joseph (Amy) Klatt; four grandchildren; his mother, Lois; his uncle, Robert Nobles; his aunt, Marion Howe; brothers, Thomas (Kathy) Klatt and Stephen (Lori) Klatt; sister, Mary (Nathan) Schlabach; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Sat., Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1355 West Ave., Medina NY 14103.

William L. Wehling
William L. Wehling, 83, of Medina, passed away Fri., Nov. 15, 2019 following a long and hard battle with several ailments.
Mr. Wehling was born March 6, 1936 in Medina, a son of Arthur C. and Bertha A. (Laatsch) Wehling. He lived in the Medina area all his life. He married Joanne D. Beaver on Aug. 25, 1956, and together they raised a family of three children. Mr. Wehling was a collision man for several years, working for area car dealerships and at one time owning his own business. Eventually, he went to work for Harrison Radiator in Lockport, from which he retired after many years. His hobbies were welding, fabricating, and working on antique pocket watches. Mr. Wehling’s main priority and joy in life was taking special care of his beloved son, Mike.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Joanne D. Wehling, on Jan. 3, 2013; his sister, Esther; and his brother, Arthur Wehling.
He is survived by his children, William E. (Robin) Wehling, Jacqueline A. Wall and Michael A. Wehling; grandchildren, Alan (Amy) Ward, Marcy (Kelli) Wehling, William (Liz) Wehling, Erik Wehling, Vinita (Richard) Mosher and Michael (Johanna) Mishra; six great-grandchildren; brother, Walter (Terry) Wehling; several nieces and nephews; and special friends at the Sunrise Café, Leroy and Shirley Neeper and Carol Wellman.
There will be no calling hours. Interment in Bates Road Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.

Kimberly A. Smith
Kimberly A. “Kim” Smith, 52, of Albion, passed away suddenly on Nov. 17, 2019. She was born March 29, 1967 in Batavia to Ronald Bieniek and Marcia Jackson.
Kim loved to cook, and she enjoyed feeding people. She owned and operated Kim’s Kitchen Bakery & More for the past couple of years. When she wasn’t cooking, she enjoyed swimming, crocheting, sewing, and taking care of her grandkids. Kim was a tough woman with a bold personality but a beautiful, loving heart.
Kim was predeceased by her granddaughter, Emma Vasquez.
In addition to her parents, Kim is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Chris; daughters, Kagney (David Armer) Bieniek, Amanda (Tim) Vasquez, and Meadow Smith; grandchildren, Hudson, Chase and Delaney Armer; sister, Kellie (Mike) Lepard; brother, Kenneth (Jennifer) Bieniek; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wed., Nov. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion NY 14411, where her Memorial Service will be held Thu., Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.

Charles H. Sargent
Charles H. “Chubby” Sargent, 72, of Medina, entered into rest on Nov. 7, 2019 at Medina Memorial Hospital.
Born April 4, 1947 in Medina, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Robinson) Sargent. He graduated from Medina High School, class of 1967. A U.S. Army veteran, he served from 1967 to 1969. Mr. Sargent was employed at Eastman Kodak in Rochester.
He is survived by his brother, Frank (late Beverly) Sargent of Medina; and several nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harold “Ted” and Robert “Buster” Sargent.

Marion G. Levanduski

Mickey was a member of Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Church in Albion for many years, and she was also a member of the Sacred Heart Club in Medina.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, in 2011; and by several siblings.
Mickey is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family wishes to give a special thank you to Pam and Trace for the years of care and love they gave to Mickey.
