LaQuita Terrell Amos
LaQuita Terrell Amos, 39, of Greensboro, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Thu., Dec. 12, 2019.
Born on Oct. 3, 1980 in Medina, LaQuita was the daughter of Sheila (Glendale McCrae) and David (Daphne Amos). She graduated from Medina High School in 1998 and went to Howard University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in business administration. She continued her education at Forsyth Technical College and received a project management technology degree. LaQuita was employed at Lincoln Financial for several years.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking and sports, and she was adventurous. She will be most remembered as a loving daughter, sister, caregiver, niece, friend and partner with a generous and fun spirit.
She sacrificially gave her time to create wonderful memories with her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
LaQuita leaves to mourn grandmother, Bernice of Medina; siblings, Desiree and Dasia Amos; nieces and nephews, Abrianna, Ariel, Devon and Krisma Amos, and Nautica Potts, all of Greensboro; and her life partner of 16 years, Quentis Leverett of Greensboro.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Edward Boose, and the Rev. Oscar and Minne Amos.
Relatives and friends may call on Sat., Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Glad Tidings Baptist Church, 404 W. Oak Orchard St., Medina NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. Lambert Duncan, officiating. Burial will be in Boxwood Cemetery.

George Ivan Strickland
George Ivan Strickland, 100, of Waterport, died Dec. 16, 2019 in Orchard Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 5, 1919 in the Town of Gaines and was a lifelong resident of this area.
Ivan was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1937, and ran the family farm until going to work for Harrison Radiator. Upon retiring from General Motors, he went back to full-time farming. Ivan was a member of Carlton United Methodist Church and a former member of the FFA. He was a very social person who kept a daily journal of his daily activities. Ivan enjoyed family gatherings and playing cards, but mostly he loved farming.
Mr. Strickland was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Louise (Waters); as well as four brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his son, Curt (Linda) Strickland of Albion; his daughter, Yvonne (John) Follman of Waterport; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Ivan’s services and interment will be announced at a later date.

Joyce A. Mason
Joyce A. Mason, 84, of Holley, passed away Dec. 15, 2019. She was born May 19, 1935 in Alburg, Vt.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughters, Patricia Pagan and Linda Mitchell; her sisters, Ann Hallinean and Christine McBride; and her brother, Ernest Mitchell.
Joyce is survived by her loving longtime friend, Thomas Smith; son, Michael (Debra) Mitchell; daughters, Ronda Porras, Cheryl Poole and Brenda Lawrence; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Fri., Dec. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Route 31, Holley NY 14470, where her service will be held immediately following at 12 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

William J. Ryan
William J. Ryan, of Lyndonville, passed away on Nov. 22, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of Dolores (nee Daigler) Ryan for 64 years; devoted father of John (Suzanne) Ryan and the late Susan Coppola; father-in-law of Kristopher Coppola; loving grandfather of Jennifer, Christopher, Taylor and Dylan; great-grandfather of Liana; and dear brother of the late Vincent (Carmen), Francis and Richard Ryan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a past president of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Ben Walford Jr.
Ben “Wolf” Walford Jr., 83, of Albion, passed away peacefully Dec. 14, 2019 at The Villages of Orleans. He was born July 28, 1936 in Sumter County, Ga. and lived in this area most of his life. Ben was a former employee of T.J. Lipton and Orleans Community Action.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Doshia (Brown) Walford; sisters, Betty Walford-Moye and Mattie Walford-Samas; brother, Ralph; and daughter, Doris C. Smith.
He is survived by his sister, Irene Walford-Manuel; lifelong companion, Lizzie L. Smith; grandsons, Carl Ben Ross III, Christopher L. Smith and Chaz Dennis Ross; nieces and nephews, Pamela Manuel, Kimberly Manuel, Kenneth Manuel, Linda Burks, Charles Burks, Michael, Mitchell, Derren, Devita and Victor Samas; and several friends.

James J. Watson
James J. Watson, 72, of Albion, entered into rest on Dec. 15, 2019 following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1947 in Buffalo, a son of the late Richard and Mary (Farrell) Watson.
After graduating from St. Francis High School in Hamburg, Jim served proudly as an M.P. in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, stationed in Landau, Germany. After returning home, Jim served as a volunteer firefighter at U-Crest Fire Department in Cheektowaga and also began a lifelong career in the banking field before retiring from ESL in 2009.
Jim was a lifelong Sabres fan who also loved watching international soccer and spending time in the company of his family and three dogs, Peaches, Tootsie and Daisy Mae. Most of all, Jim was an avid woodworker who loved spending time in his shop designing and building furniture for loved ones.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gabriele (Wietler); children, Kellie (Del) Watson, Joachim (Becky) Wietler, Kevin (Lisa) Watson, Nicole (Rohan) Thadani, and Gabriella (Zach) Watson; grandchildren, Morgan, Emma, Makenzie, Logan, Liam and Adeline; siblings, Richard, Sheila and Michael; and lifelong buddy, Ron Zak.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald and William; and his sister, Mary.

Claire L. Pollman
Claire L. Pollman, 76, of Indian Lake, N.Y., passed away as a result of primary progressive aphasia, a form of frontal temporal dementia, on Fri., Dec. 13, 2019, with her loving husband at her side. She was under the compassionate care of staff at High Peaks Hospice.
Born on March 12, 1943 in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., she was the eldest daughter of 10 children born to Murtha and Rosemary (McDowell) Lawrence.
Claire was a graduate of St. Agnes Academic School in Queens; and SUNY Buffalo, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. While working at the bookstore in college, she met the dashing Adirondacker, Ernest W. Pollman, whom she married on July 2, 1966.
Claire taught in many school districts as an elementary school teacher and was also the director of the Brockport Community Nursery School. She retired from teaching in 1998, and she and Ernest moved to Indian Lake in 2000.
Claire was an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying snowshoeing, paddling, hiking, and admiring nature. She also enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader, instilling the love of reading in everyone she met. Claire enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially around the holidays.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ernest; her children, Jennifer and Ernest Jr.; her siblings; a loving sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews with whom she enjoyed a special bond.
In keeping with Claire’s wishes, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.

Myron F. Blood

Myron enjoyed riding his motorcycle, dancing and camping. He was a member of St. Brendan on the Lake. He owned and operated Five B’s Restaurant and ice cream trucks in Newfane in the early 1970s. Myron also drove trucks for Goods Transportation in Lockport, retiring in March of 1993.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jessie (Annalora) Blood, whom he married in 1954; his daughter, Maureen; sons, Kim and Wade; and several siblings.
Myron is survived by his daughter, Carla (Randy) Nellist; daughters-in-law, Pamela Blood and Judy Gray; grandchildren, Joshua (Dr. Anat Kohn) Nellist, Andy Kim Blood, Sarah (Brian) Quackenbush, Kimberly (Derek) Ortiz, Michael J. Blood and Adam R. Nellist; seven great-grandchildren; special loving friend, Lois Baker; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Beverly Lorraine Voelker
Beverly Lorraine Voelker, 78, of Middleport, died Dec. 12, 2019 following a long illness. She was born Nov. 2, 1941 in Niagara Falls, a daughter of the late Augustus and Louise (Hoy) Witherite, and she lived in the Middleport area all of her life.
She enjoyed gardening and crocheting, but, most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Ray Clowser; and stepfather, Ray Clowser.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ron; her daughters, Rhonda (John) Hutchinson, Kelly (Jody) Herriven and Sherry (Rob) Broda; grandchildren, Brittany, Darrick (Angela), Elliott, Nicholas (Samantha), Miranda, Chelsea, Mallory and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Stephanie, Sophia, Brooklyn, Levi, Bryson, Makenna and Scarlett; sisters, Jean (Shelly) Henning, Sharon Tench and Debbie (Bill) Boyle; sister-in-law, Dawn (Richard) Collins; close friends, Margie Urban and Lynn Cook; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Diana Lyn (Ergott) Jeffords
Diana Lyn (Ergott) Jeffords, 71, passed away peacefully on the morning of Dec. 8, 2019 at her home in The Villages, Fla., surrounded by her loving family, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Diana was born on Nov. 29, 1948 to Delvin L. Ergott and Ruth (Toal) Ergott Smith in Albion. Diana had fond memories of growing up on Sawyer Road in Kent, where the family lived until she was 13, afterwards moving to Carlton Station. She graduated from Albion High School in 1966 and attended school in Buffalo. She also lived in Rochester and worked for Rochester Telephone. She married her loving husband, Jason E. Jeffords Jr., on Sept. 30, 1972, and the couple settled in the Albion area, building their home and raising their family in Carlton for the next 40+ years. Diana retired from the United States Postal Service after 25 years, having reached the position of Postmaster. After retiring, Diana and her husband spent winters in Florida for several years, moving there permanently in 2018.
Diana is survived by her husband of 47 years; and by two children, Danielle L. (Brian) Counihan of Buffalo and Jason E. Jeffords III of New York City. She was the loving grandmother of four grandsons, Theodore, John, Lincoln and Desmond Counihan. She is also survived by her sister, Deloris (Leon) Standish; sisters-in-law, Wendy Ainsworth, Carol Ergott and Jacqueline Romanowski; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Delvin and Ruth; as well as her brother, Delvin L. Ergott Jr.
Services will be held graveside for family in June 2020, and burial will be in Mount Albion Cemetery.

Audrey Ann Harris
Audrey Ann Harris, of North Charleston, S.C. and formerly of Medina, entered gracefully into Heaven on Dec. 6, 2019. Audrey was born Nov. 26, 1936 in Batavia to Glenn and Sophie (Szymanski) Beechler. She married Leighton D. Harris on June 16, 1956. They had four children and lived in Medina for almost 30 years.
Audrey loved her family with her whole heart. She was truly dedicated to everyone she loved. She was always kind and caring and very faithful in her love for God. She enjoyed caring for her cats, Mallory and Twyla, and occasionally fostered or adopted one in need of loving care.
Audrey is survived by her four children, Gary (Debbie) Harris of Wisconsin, Brenda (William) Haacker of North Carolina, Michele Harris of South Carolina, and Melissa (Robert Jr.) West of Lockport; her loving, loyal and faithful companion of 21 years, Steve Padgett of North Charleston; her eight grandchildren, Alecia and Brian Moore, Sondra Rodriguez, Courtney West, Tyler West, Tennille West, Robert West III and Dylan West; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Leighton Harris; her loving grandson, Trevor Morphet; and her sisters, Mildred Beales and Loretta Gower.
Services will be held on a later date at the convenience of the family.

Cheryl S. Wochna
Cheryl S. Wochna, 76, of Albion, died Dec. 9, 2019 in her residence following a brief illness.
She was born March 21, 1943 in Ridgeway, Pa. to William and Effie Simon and lived in this area most of her life.
Cheryl enjoyed gardening and crafting and was a lover of animals. She will be best remembered, however, for being a very family-oriented person who enjoyed doing anything and everything with her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Walter; her son, Bradley Wochna of Kendall; her daughter, Susan Haibach of Kendall; her sister, Sandra Froberg of Pennsylvania; and her fur babies, PeeWee, Simon and Cat.

Robert L. Bates

Robert married the late Karen Marie Bates on March 3, 1962 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ridgewood. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. Robert retired from General Motors as an inspection foreman and had also worked on the family farm. Robert and Karen were season ticket holders for the Daytona 500, meeting racing greats like Richard Petty.
Karen predeceased Robert on Nov. 9, 2018.
He is survived by his children, Linda Parr and Daniel (Barbara) Halo; grandchildren, Jonathan Parr, Matthew (Melissa) Parr, Danielle (Patrick) Halo, Haley (Ben) Clark and Joseph Moberg; great-grandchildren, Harrison Joseph Till, Serafina Marie Parr and Eisley Clark; sisters, Donna (the late Ron) Medlin, Judy (the late Barney) Raysor, and Debbie (Tom) Muscato; sisters-in-law, Shirley (the late Charles) Salter and Dottie (Peter) Patterson; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Dennis Kupka

Dennis served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Sheret Post #35 American Legion of Albion. He was a Buffalo Bills fan since childhood, and he loved to work on classic cars, listen to 1950s music, and collect and restore antique pocket watches.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Dwayne in 1971 and David in 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; daughter, Debbie (Norman) Bale; son, Dennis (Debbie) Kupka; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Kupka; grandchildren, Becky, T.J. (Melissa), Eric (Angie Varela), Autumn (Paul Griffin), Kolton, Ashleigh, Noah, Ayden and Addyson; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Grant and Stella; persistent buddies, Taz, Mr. Sox and Midge; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many childhood friends.

Patricia A. Johnson
Patricia A. Johnson, 87, of Holley, died Dec. 8, 2019 at Elderwood of Lakeside at Brockport, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Oct. 26, 1932 in Albion, a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Gladys (Carr) Wilson, and she lived in this area all of her life.
Patricia loved to cook and bake, but, most importantly, she loved being with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 2013.

Alida S. Watkins
Alida S. “Sig” Watkins passed away on Tue., Nov. 26, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nev. at the age of 93.
Born June 10, 1926 in the Town of Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Dunn) Hale. Alida worked at the Apple Grove Inn in Medina for many years, first as a waitress starting in 1952, and eventually becoming manager in the early 1960s. In 1974, she left and opened the Half Moon Inn in Ridgeway. She retired in 1980. Alida married Lloyd J. Watkins in 1981, and together they moved to Mesa, Ariz. She was residing in Henderson, Nev. until her passing. Alida was a hardworking and loving mother of four who will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in 1993.
She is survived by her four children: daughters, Bonnie Coffey of Kentucky, Carlyle Scholes of Medina, and Connie Griffie of Nevada; and son, Bert (Maxine) VanAuker of Middleport; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thu., Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery in Lockport.

Catherine B. Jablonski Yutzler
Catherine “Kate” B. Jablonski Yutzler, 59, of Roanoke, Va. and formerly of Clinton, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on Wed., Nov. 27, 2019. She was born in Medina on July 5, 1960.
Kate is preceded in death by her parents, Barbara M. (Bielak) Jablonski and Edward J. Jablonski; and her sister, Julie Marie Jablonski.
Kate was employed by the New York State Department of Corrections and was active in organizing numerous family activities. She especially enjoyed cooking her Grandma Bielak’s recipes for family members and visiting her dad while living in Roanoke.
She is survived by her beloved children, Ashley (Michael) Flora and Alec (Virginia Tilitsky) Yutzler; siblings, John E. (Mary Ann) Jablonski, Deborah Ann (Chuck Kenney) Patterson and Joseph A. Jablonski; stepmother, Carol A. Jablonski; and nieces and nephews, John Cromwell III, Christina (Cleo) Jones, Brooke (Jeremy) Beatty and J .T. Jablonski. Kate was also a loving grandmother to Jackson Hicks and Jillian Kate Flora; and great-aunt to Donte Quinones, Mason and Logan Beatty.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be held during the summer of 2020 in Medina.

Donna Mae Beyer
Donna Mae (Martin) Beyer, 85, of Medina, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Dec. 4, 2019 at Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
She was born on July 19, 1934 in Buffalo, the fourth of Thomas and Gerda (Maier) Martin’s nine children. The family eventually moved to Oakfield, where Donna graduated from high school in 1952. She then worked as a secretary and a telephone operator. On Sept. 14, 1957, Donna married Robert Beyer Sr. Soon after, they settled in Medina in the house where Donna lived for the rest of her life, even after Bob’s passing in 2000. It was there that they raised their four children and where family and friends gathered throughout the many years. Family was always most important to Donna. From her earliest days with her brothers and sisters playing in their rural neighborhood and working on the Elba mucklands, to the countless gatherings and reunions with her large extended family, spending time with her loved ones was her greatest joy.
Active in the Medina community, Donna was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church and was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Santa Maria #295. She was a Twig volunteer at Medina Memorial Hospital’s gift shop, at the MAAC clothing depot and food pantry, and at numerous blood drives. She also volunteered on many election days at the Town of Shelby’s polling site. While Donna’s children were young, and later with her granddaughter and great-nieces and nephews, she was an active member of the Medina High School Parents Athletic Club, attending many sports games and other school events.
Besides her parents and her beloved husband, Donna was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas Martin Jr. and Ronald Martin; and her sister, Gerda “Sunny” Watts.
Donna is survived by her four children, Charlene (Jim) Griffin of Rutland, Mass., Robert Jr. (Michele) of Cleveland, Ohio, Richard of Medina and Russell (Deanna) of Russell, Pa.; sisters, Barbara Endres, Patricia Phillips, Kathleen Herman and Margaret Macioszek; brother, Jerald Martin; brothers-in-law, David Watts, Ronald Beyer and Francis Balcerzak; sister-in-law, Joanne Beyer; grandchildren, Cody Beyer, Griffin Beyer, Meg Beyer, Brigid Griffin, Alyssa Beyer, Liam Griffin, Andrew Beyer, Emily Beyer and Katie Beyer; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Fri., Dec. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat., Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina, with interment following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Medina High School Parents Athletic Club, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Robert L. Carpenter
Robert L. “Bob” Carpenter, 66, of Holley, passed away suddenly on Dec. 4, 2019. He was born Oct. 10, 1953 in Brockport to the late Stanley and Eleanor (McFarland) Carpenter and would remain in the Holley and Clarendon area his entire life.
Bob served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, from 1971 to 1973. He was a member of VFW Post 202 and American Legion Post 529, and he was a volunteer fireman for the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Company. Bob was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He had a great personality and was always happy. Spending time with his wife and family was his greatest joy in life.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Paula; children, Sean Carpenter, Orissa (Mike) Hill, John Carpenter and Matthew Carpenter; grandchildren, Tyler (Annie Jewell), McKenzie, Mason, Mazie and Julia; brothers, Skip (Cindy), Bill (Ann), Rusty (Mary) and Paul (Kathy); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Mon., Dec. 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Route 31, Holley NY 14470, where a brief service followed by military honors will be held promptly at 3 p.m.

Julia A. Brown

Julia loved working at Medina Memorial Hospital, from which she retired after many years. She enjoyed going to Darrell’s Place, crafts, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She owned and operated Country Charm Fabrics. Another love of Julia’s was dancing, especially at weddings – her favorites were the Jitterbug and the Charleston.
Julia was predeceased by her husband, Robert, whom she married in 1948; children, Dennis, David, Debra and Anne Brown; son-in-law, Jim Coughenour; siblings, Carmella (Angelo) Tomasello, Anna (Leonard) Tomasello, Helen (Santo) Tomasello, Frank Martelli and Mary Martelli.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Steve) Walsh and Kathy Coughenour; grandchildren, Richard and David Wisniewski, Michele (James) Kennedy, Michael Wisniewski, Jennifer (Gerry Jr.) Perkins, Ann (Jordan) Branch, and Felicia Coughenour; great-grandchildren, Gianna and Elina Wisniewski, Sarah, Josh, Zachary, Nicholas and Madelyn Kennedy, Reanna Perkins, and Jordana Branch; daughter-in-law, Regina Brown; sister-in-law, Carmella Martelli; dear friends, Lynn Bullen and Sylvia Mountain; many nieces, nephews, cousins and great neighbors.
The family will receive friends on Fri.,Dec. 6 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, where her funeral service will be held Sat., Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Hartland Cemetery.
