Gary W. Thaine

Gary enjoyed golf, camping, puzzles, fishing and NASCAR, and he owned the fantasy football team, “Thunder Rockers.” Gary received the most joy spending time with his family and friends. He retired from the United States Postal Service in Brockport.
He is survived by his brothers and sister, Gene (Sue) Thaine, David (Marilyn) Thaine, Tom (Marsha) Thaine, Anita (Brad) Nudd and Michael (Susan) Thaine; nieces and nephews, Justin (Vicky) Thaine, Travis (Heidi) Thaine, Adam (Lindsay) Thaine, Jessica (Tyler) Swanger, Stephanie Thaine, Aaron (Jeannette) Thaine, Abigail Thaine and Kyle Thaine; two great-nieces; a great-nephew; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, on Tue., Nov. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by Gary’s memorial service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Private inurnment will take place in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Jim Manchester

He resided in the area all of his life, living in Medina, Albion and Middleport. On Oct. 8, 1960, he married Marilyn Lackner. They raised a family together. He spent many years working at and then operating the family business, Travel Trailer Center. He greatly enjoyed the relationships that were developed as he helped his customers to become happy campers. He was known in the community as a hardworking and well-respected businessman.
Jim was baptized on Sept. 22, 1955 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He attended the Medina, Albion and Middleport congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was an ordained minister who greatly enjoyed speaking to others about the Bible. Many who knew Jim will remember that he also greatly enjoyed being a part of the building team that assisted in building and remodeling Kingdom Halls. Jim loved spending time traveling with his wife, their children and grandchildren. They spent most summer vacations camping at Nick’s Lake Campground in Old Forge in the Adirondack Mountains. Many good memories were made there with treasured friends and family. Jim especially enjoyed keeping the campfire going all day. They also enjoyed winter vacations in Florida, including many trips to Walt Disney World and the beach. Jim also took great pride in his vast vegetable garden and grape vines. Jim and Marilyn recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary with their family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Dawn of Middleport, Todd (Leah) of Lockport, Jason (Jodi) of Sarasota, Fla., and Kristin (Jonathan) Saulsbury of Middleport; grandchildren, Brendan and Gillian Schyve, Dominic James Manchester, and Jianna and Jaydan James Saulsbury; brother, Ron (Joyce) Manchester of Vero Beach, Fla.; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynette.
The family will receive friends on Sat., Nov. 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3830 Stone Road, Middleport. A memorial service will be held at the same location at 3 p.m.

Ruth Harriett David
Ruth H. “Nanny” David, 89, of Holley, passed away surrounded by her loving family Nov. 14, 2019. Ruth was born April 20, 1930 in Omaha, Neb., a daughter of the late Edward and Merle Kerr. Ruth loved to sing and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and family.
Ruth was the beloved wife of 65 years to Mitchell David; loving mother of Jeff David, Louise (Wally) Wingrove, and Laura (Leo) Nussenbaum; cherished grandmother of Brett (Brandi) Wingrove, Fernando (Marlieke) Nussenbaum, Todd (Katie) Wingrove, Alisha (Tony) Sands, Matt Wingrove and Alex Nussenbaum; and dearest great-grandmother of Braiden, Keyanna, Brooke, Braylie, Adelyn, Maddox and Makenna.
A private graveside service will be held at Sandy Creek Cemetery.

Richard Harland Swan
Richard Harland Swan, of Medina, passed away on Nov. 12, 2019 at the age of 86.
Born in Medina on July 15, 1933, he was the son of Harland and Loraine (Dibley) Swan. He attended DeSales High School in Lockport. Richard was a veteran of the Korean War. He served as an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 and was awarded several medals.
Richard partnered with his father in his dad’s heating and plumbing business in Medina. He was also employed at Simons Steel, Iroquois Job Corps, and as a corrections officer at Orleans Correctional Facility in Albion. After retiring from New York State Corrections, he kept busy working as a real estate salesperson and collecting antiques and memorabilia. He also served on the Town of Ridgeway Planning Board.
Richard loved to go fishing, and he never missed a Buffalo Bills football game. He also enjoyed watching the Buffalo Sabres whenever they won. He was an avid book reader who enjoyed looking for collectibles and antiques. He was always ready for a game of euchre or cribbage, and he loved a good joke.
Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Johanna (Thompson); daughters, Selene Swan Gilman and Katrina (Dale) Swan DeGee; two grandchildren, Keith Gilman and Jenna (Dave) Ingersoll; one great-grandchild, Sarah Ingersoll; one sister, Mary Lou (Robert) Trembley; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents; brother, Donald; and sister, Arlene Swan.
A graveside committal service with full military honors will take place in the near future at the soon-to-be-built Western New York National Cemetery in Pembroke. The projected date of cemetery completion is late in 2020. The family of Richard will have a Catholic Mass said on a date that will be announced soon.

Richard William Ennis

Mr. Ennis was born on Sept. 5, 1938 in Brockport to the late William and Ethel Hanna Ennis. He was a U.S. Army veteran who was proud to have been a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He lived in Holley and worked for Owens Illinois in Brockport until 1985 when the plant closed. He was then transferred to the O-I plant in Winston-Salem, N.C., from which he retired in 1993. He and his wife, Eloise, moved to Mooresville in 1999. Dick belonged to American Legion Post 529 of Holley. He enjoyed doing yard and garden work, weeding and watering all of Eloise’s numerous flowers. Dick loved watching the New York Yankees and college basketball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Ennis.
Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eloise Schiavone Ennis; daughter, Susan (Ralph) Ennis Henderson; brother, Donald (Carol) Ennis; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Mon., Nov. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Tue., Nov. 19 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel.

Hope M. Mosher
Hope M. Mosher, 43, of Medina, died Nov. 12, 2019 in Medina Memorial Hospital, following a long illness and while under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Orleans.
Hope was born Oct. 16, 1976 in Rochester to Earl and Billie (Moore) Oberther and lived in this area her entire life. She was a former employee of Associated Brands, worked as a health care aide at Medina Memorial Hospital, and loved to be on social media. Hope was an artist who specialized in creating canvas sculptures, but the creations she loved the most and was most proud of were her children and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons and her daughter, Jason, Anthony and Sheya Zajaczkowski; her siblings, Donald, Christopher, Vicki, Calvin, Michael, Chad and Corrina; her grandchildren, Joshua, Jessie and Raylyn; her parents, Bob “Mo” and Jacquelyn Mosher; her extended family, the Oberther and Moore families; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sat., Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, where her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. following visitation.
Hope made arrangements with the University of Buffalo School of Medicine to donate her body so that, by research, she may further the advancement of the practice of medicine.

Penthea J. Curtis

Penny was born March 30, 1968 in Brockport, a daughter of Dora (Cronk) and the late Herbert Merkley Sr., and she lived in this area all of her life. Her family was her life, and she loved spending time with them. Penny loved to laugh and draw, and she enjoyed truck mudding and traveling. She visited 22 states, and her favorite city was New Orleans.
Penny is survived by her daughters, Cortney (Derek) Sevor and Jennifer Curtis; a son, George (Morgan Tinkous) Curtis; grandchildren, Charlotte and Sullivan Sevor, and Greyson Curtis; mother, Dora Merkley; siblings, Suzette Hahn, Yvonne (Phil) Newbould, Sarah Davis, Sandy (Scott) Ellis, Joseph Merkley, Herbert (Stephanie) Merkley, and Corrinda (Michael) Shepherd; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph E. Combo Sr.
Joseph Edward Combo Sr., 95, of Elba, passed away on Nov. 7, 2019.
Born in Rochester, N.Y. on Feb. 27, 1924, a son of the late Patsy and Lillian Combo, he lived his youth in Caledonia. He married Rowena Monroe Combo in 1948 and raised his family in Elba.
Joseph was a muck farmer who enjoyed hunting and socializing with other farmers in the area. He took great pride in his family and cherished each moment with them.
Joseph is survived by his children, Kathryn (Charles) Combo Fernandez Brown of Alexandria, Va., Joseph Edward Combo Jr. of Batavia, Margaret Combo Mooney of Medina, and Elizabeth (Glenn) Combo Pearles of Albion. He was greatly loved by his grandchildren, Alicia Fernandez Hogan, David (Allison) Fernandez, Patricia (Darren) Combo Zgainer, Robert (Kelly) Combo, Matthew (Keith) Mooney Galantowicz, Karrie (Jason) Mooney Banfield, Jeremy (Alisha) Mooney, Chris (Kerry) Pearles and Andrea (Kenny) Pearles Robinson. He leaves 13 great-grandchildren, who always put a smile on his face during family gatherings. He is also survived by his sister, Grace Antinore; sister-in-law, Loretta Combo; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Rowena; his brother, Carl Combo; and his brother-in-law, James Antinore.

Brian S. Bouter
Brian S. Bouter, 58, of Albion, died Nov. 4, 2019 at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born Feb. 6, 1961 in Albion, a son of Stanley Sr. and Shirley (Smith) Bouter, and he lived in this area his entire life.
Brian was a very artistic individual who loved to draw. He also enjoyed listening to loud music, especially the band KISS. Brian was a very self-sufficient person and a very forgiving soul with a huge heart. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching football and hockey, and he truly enjoyed when things went his way. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and attending family reunions … from afar.
Mr. Bouter was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his siblings, Pat DePoty of Batavia, J.R. (Heidi) Bouter of Albion, Steve (Valerie) Bouter of Albion, Scott (Rose) Bouter of Shelby Center, Annette Dorman of Batavia, Troy (Donna) Bouter of Tennessee, Kathy (Dave) Zumwalt of Missouri, and Eric (Terasa) Bouter of Medina; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Adam N. VerCruysse
Adam N. VerCruysse, 43, of Albion, entered into rest suddenly on Nov. 3, 2019.
Born Sept. 14, 1976 in Albion, he was a son of Louis E. VerCruysse and Debra A. Corderman. Adam attended Medina High School and went on to work as a mechanic. He worked for Rick & Ron’s Auto Services in Medina for many years and was well known for being a great mechanic. Adam enjoyed camping, four-wheeling and canoeing, and he loved to cook. He especially loved his children and would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his parents, Louis VerCruysse and Debra Corderman; special friends and mothers of his children, Mindy (Todd) Wells and Tanya (David) Lusk; children, Adam J., Chelsea, Baylee and Devin (Dayonna Carter) VerCruysse; grandson, Landon VerCruysse; siblings, David and Crystal VerCruysse; sisters-in-law, Stacey (Christopher) Seefeldt and Kristen (John) Ostrander; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by infant son, Cody; sister, Angel VerCruysse; maternal grandparents, Harold and Bessie Corderman; paternal grandparents, Edward VerCruysse and Marilyn Smith; and uncle, Norman Corderman.

William Michael Manella
William Michael Manella passed away Mon., Oct. 28, 2019 in Ocean Springs, Miss., surrounded by his children, sister and cousins.
Michael was born on Oct. 29, 1956 in Biloxi, Miss. While he was still an infant, he came with his mother to Albion, where he spent his childhood and teenage years. Later, Michael moved back to Biloxi with his mother and siblings, and, except for a brief time with his mother in Sarasota, Fla., he lived out the remainder of his life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He spent many years working offshore on the oil rigs off of the Louisiana coast. He was known by many for his talent of being able to fix anything he put his hands on, whether it was plumbing, electrical, mechanical or carpentry. Michael loved fishing, music, NASCAR, and especially the New Orleans Saints. He was a funny, charismatic, caring individual who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Michael was predeceased by his mother, Camille Johnston Manella, in 2017; and his father, Leon Manella, in 1970.
He is survived by his twin sons, Stephen (Heather) Manella of Albion and Michael (Brittany) Manella of Norman, Okla.; sister, Karen Manella of Albion and Sarasota, Fla.; brother, Stephen (Patty) Manella of Westhampton, N.Y.; grandsons, Roman and Hudson Manella of Albion; granddaughter, Phoenix Manella of Norman; nephews, Stephen Lee (Brenda) Manella and Jacob Manella of Westhampton, N.Y.; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
Michael is now in the arms of his mother in heaven, where she can keep him safe. “In the end it is about forgiveness, it is about love, it is about peace.”
The family will hold a private service at a later date.

Christopher W. Coleman
Christopher W. Coleman, 42, of Medina, entered into rest on Sun., Nov. 3, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
Born on Sept. 5, 1977 in Rochester, N.Y., he was the son of the late Gerald W. and Ann (Schulwitz) Coleman.
Christopher was an avid Buffalo Bills fan who enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics, excelling in hockey.
Christopher is survived by his wife, Amanda Coleman; siblings, Pam Coleman, Amy Burgess, Sara Burgess, Scott Coleman and Ryan Coleman; two aunts, Connie Faraone and Henrietta Shay; three uncles, William Shay, Michael Schulwitz and Larry Coleman; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Christopher is predeceased by his grandparents, Henry H. and Mamie I. Coleman, Art and Verna Schulwitz; and an uncle, Dominic Faraone.
There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Beryl Barnes
Mrs. Beryl Barnes, of Shelby Center, entered into rest peacefully on Sun., Nov. 3, 2019 at her home at the age of 88.
Born Dec. 2, 1930 at her family home in Runcorn, Cheshire, England, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred H. and Nellie (Warren) Youd. She met Edward A. Barnes in England while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They were married in England on May 30, 1953. In 1955, the couple came to the United States and raised a family of five children.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, her family was her life. She maintained close contact with her family in England. Mrs. Barnes was a vivid storyteller who often recalled her experiences as a child during the bombing of Liverpool in the Second World War. She loved singing to her family. Mrs. Barnes was an avid card player who enjoyed board games and tending to her garden, and she loved animals, especially her cats, Monty and Johnny.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, on April 2, 1995; her sisters, Joan Faulkner, Mona Faulkner and Doreen Hosker; and her brother, Wilfred H. Youd, in 2002.
She is survived by her children, Edwina Barnes Hart, Arthur W. Barnes, Wilfred H. (Linda) Barnes, Deborah L. Barnes and Darrel J. Barnes; 14 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call on Fri., Nov. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center St., Medina, where her funeral service will be held on Sat., Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.

Dean C. Bow
Dean C. “Dino” Bow, 67, of Lyndonville, entered into rest on Sun., Nov. 3, 2019 at Highland Hospital, Rochester, N.Y.
Born on March 13, 1952 in Batavia, he was the son of Donald Bow and the late Mary Lou Graff Bow.
Dean attended Akron Central High School and graduated in 1970. He was employed as a traveling millwright and worked in various places, including Canada, Mexico, North Carolina and Texas. Dean enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and was a member of ABATE, Niagara County Chapter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially with his granddaughter, Harper.
Besides his father, Dean is survived by his partner in life for the last 25 years, Michele Worden; his children, Gregory (Sierra) Bow of Lyndonville, Jenny Dempster of Chicago, and Juston (Alysa) Worden of Akron; five grandchildren; siblings, Lu Anne (Rodney) Whiting and Robert (Kim) Bow, both of Lyndonville; several nieces and nephews; his good friend, Keith Bender of Akron; and Dean’s faithful four-legged companion, Rosco.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.

Henry James Haibach
Henry James Haibach, 58, of Carlton, passed away Nov. 3, 2019. He was born Nov. 12, 1960 in Rochester to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Bartolf) Haibach.
Henry grew up on a small farm in Kendall and was always a farm boy at heart. He had a passion for anything Mopar, collecting toy tractors and diecast cars. Henry enjoyed telling jokes, even though he only had three of them. He was a personable man who was always good for a laugh. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, playing cards and games with his grandkids, and also saying “good for one.”
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his friend, Scott Heidemann.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sheila; his children, Alisha (Shaun) Richardson, William (Elizabeth) Haibach, and James (Sharon Eblacker) Haibach; adoring grandchildren, Connor, Hannah, Brennan and Nathaniel Richardson; brother, Richard Haibach; niece, Stephanie; nephew, Ridley; and fur babies, Squeekers and Pickles.

Dorothy A. Breitsman
Dorothy A. Breitsman, of Medina, passed away on Wed., Oct. 30, 2019 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
Mrs. Breitsman was born in Medina, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Pearl (Lubawy) Cotriss. She was a graduate of Medina High School, and she married Robert W. Breitsman on Sept. 8, 1951. Mrs. Breitsman was employed as a bookkeeper for H.J. Heinz Co. and the Medina Journal-Register. She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Parish, St. Mary’s Church. She loved animals, especially cats and dogs.
Mrs. Breitsman was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Robert W., on May 17, 2001; her sister, Louise Fortunato; and her grandson, Brian R. Michaels.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Peter) Michaels of Depew; grandson, Timothy (Dustin Clark) Michaels of Burke, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service will be held in May 2020 in Boxwood Cemetery.

David C. Tetrault Jr.
David C. Tetrault Jr., 41, of Albion, died Oct. 29, 2019 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 27, 1977 in Rochester, a son of David and Doris (Enright) Tetrault Sr., and he lived in the Albion area all of his life.
David was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship Church, where he ran the soundboard for worship. He also delivered newspapers for the Lake Country Pennysaver and enjoyed riding his bike. He was a volunteer driver for COVA, enjoyed being on the track and field team in high school, was a Legomaniac, and was an avid Star Trek fan. David was very social with the members and friends of The Arc, and he shared an interest in cars with his father. He would also be a certain winner in any pizza eating contest!
Mr. Tetrault was predeceased by his sister, Rebecca.
He is survived by his fiancée, Melissa Viau; his father, David (Kathy) Tetrault Sr. of Rush, N.Y.; his mother, Doris Ramsperger of Auburn, N.Y.; his paternal grandmother, Patricia Tetrault of Florida; his siblings, Vicky, James, Jacob, Katie, Robert, Christopher and Marissa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. His Celebration of Life service will be held on Sun., Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Harvest Christian Fellowship, 560 East Ave., Albion NY 14411. Private interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Joseph A. Saeva
Joseph A. Saeva, 91, of Albion, died Oct. 29, 2019 at Unity Hospital following a short illness. He was surrounded by his family. Joe was born Oct. 1, 1928 in Albion, a son of the late Pasquale and Antoinette (Barber) Saeva, and he lived in this area all of his life.
Joe graduated in 1947 from Albion High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball, ran track and bowled. He was most proud of the five letters he received for being an athlete. Joe’s biggest passion was golf. He and his three brothers owned and operated Reliable Cleaners in Albion for many years. He will be remembered as a very caring and family-oriented man who was always willing to lend a helping hand for anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Rose Monacelli, Ann Colonna and Mary Stevens; and by his brothers, Nunzio and John.
He is survived by his sister, Martha DePeters of Albion; and his sister-in-law, Fran Saeva of Albion; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Fri., Nov. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, where prayers will be recited on Sat., Nov. 2 at 9:30 a.m, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Lorraine W. Tully
Go rest high on that mountain, Mom. Your work on earth is done.
Lorraine W. Tully, 83, passed away Oct. 21, 2019 with family by her side. She lived in the Albion/Waterport area most of her life, and she was a graduate of Albion High School, Class of 1954.
Lorraine retired from the New York State Department of Correctional Services after 31 years. After being home for a while, she decided to rejoin the workforce. One of her favorite sayings was, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop,” so she went to work at Jubilee Foods for six years and worked another five years at Washington Mutual Bank before calling it quits. She enjoyed playing the piano and keyboards and was often heard singing or whistling a tune. She had a “tell it like it is” attitude but also had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to play Yahtzee and euchre, and she loved to laugh with family and friends.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, James F. Tully Sr.; granddaughter, Heather Tully; son, James F. Tully Jr.; and son-in-law, Ray Hathaway.
She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her kids, Laurie Tully Hathaway, Michael (Cathy) Tully, Danny Tully, Brenda (Fred Conley) Tully, and Tim (Connie Coon) Tully; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Tully; her grandkids, Katey (Josue), Sean, Brandi (Harvey), Dustin, Jennifer, Tyan (Kelsey), Zy and April; great-grandkids, Damon, Katalina, Sophia, Christian, Harvey, Gary, Carmella, Presley and Stacey; and sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family in the United States and Canada.
Lorraine loved reminiscing about the great times she had with family and friends on “The Avenue,” and she appreciated her special Waterport neighbors, Gene and Jeanie, and Glen and Sandy.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
