Jennifer M. Post, 40, passed away unexpectedly April 2, 2021.  She was born March 7, 1981 in Brockport, a daughter of Thomas and Jacqueline (Engle) Post.

Jennifer graduated from Albion High School in 1999 where she played softball.  She attended Genesee Community College where she studied Nursing and also Monroe Community College where she studied Psychology.  But Jennifer enjoyed cutting hair and graduated from Continental School of Beauty.  She loved to travel anywhere that was warm and had a beach; but most importantly she loved her daughter, Rhoan.

She was predeceased by her brother, Jason; paternal grandparents Eugene and Elizabeth Post; maternal grandparents Robert and Janet Engle.  Jennifer is survived by her daughter, Rhoan E. Calkins; mother, Jacqueline Post; father, Thomas (Chalyce) Post; nephew, Tristan T. Post; aunts: Deborah (Joe) Martillotta, Robin (Garr) Standish, Lori (Elmer) Seiler; cousins: Luke Gaines, Kyle (Sonya) Gaines; as well as several uncles, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Ave., Albion on Mon., April 19, 1-2 p.m. where her Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m.  Interment in Mt. KENDALL – Urbine L. Bennett, 73, died April 10, 2021 at his residence following a short illness. He was born December 27, 1947 in Rochester and had lived in this area most of his life.

Urb was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Marine Corps League. He was also a 20-year member of the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department. Urb attended Concordia Lutheran Church, enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing the guitar.

Mr. Bennett was predeceased by a step-son, Kevin Banker.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sharon; his son, Adam (Heather) Bennett of AR; a step-son, Scott (Kathy) Banker of TN; 2 brothers, Clyde LeFevre of Cortland and Arbuth Bumgarner of FL; his mother, Marcia LeFevre of Cortland; daughter-in-law, Heather Bennett; 8 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. 31-Holley, where his memorial service will be held immediately following at 4 p.m. Please note that social distancing guidelines will be in place and the a mask or facial covering must be worn. MEDINA – Delores L. Hackenberg of Medina entered into rest on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born August 21, 1926 in the Town of Gaines, a daughter of the late Sumner and Thelma (Payne) Sanford.

She married Jay William Hackenberg in November of 1946. Mrs. Hackenberg was an active parishioner of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina. She worked for General Electric for many years. Later in life, she was a TWIG volunteer at Medina Memorial and also belonged to the Senior Citizens of Western Orleans. Mrs. Hackenberg enjoyed golfing, playing bingo and cards.

Survivors include her sister, Betty Christopher; several nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Cat and Scott Parker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Hackenberg in 1989; daughter, Marsha Shaw in 2018; and siblings, Florence Chase, Donald Sanford, Helen Maynard, Robert Sanford, Dorothy Frank and William Sanford.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16^th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, NY 14103. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, April 17^th, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1355 West Ave., Medina. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory at both locations.

ALBION – Robert C. Wyant, 59, died unexpectedly April 7, 2021 at his home. He was born October 30, 1961 in Albion, a son of the late Benton and Reba Wyant and had lived in this area most of his life.

Robert had worked for 30 years at Piedimonte Farms in Holley. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, spending time with his grandchildren and visiting his family in W.V.

He is survived by his sons Robert C. (Ericka) Wyant, Jr., Michael Wyant, Matthew (Heather Kelly) Wyant; grandchildren Danielle Wyant, Brooklynn Wyant, Jayden Wyant, Allison Duboff, Tyler Boucher; his sister Connie Grose; mother of his children Heidi Wyant and several extended family and friends.

Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. ALBION – Ursula “Shirley” Zambito, 91, died Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Hildebrandt Hospice with her daughter by her side. She was born January 28, 1930 in Albion, a daughter of the late Stanley and Martha (Olszewski) Telga and had lived in this area all of her life.

Shirley was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Mary’s Rosary Society, Ladies of Charity, and St. Joseph’s Bereavement Committee. She had a long successful career at as an office manager for Albion Produce for over 39 years.

She is survived by her daughter Annette Zambito; sister-in-law Janet Telga and many nieces, nephews and God children.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1977; her siblings Eleanor (Joseph) Ostrowski, Bernadine (Frank) Swiercznski, Stanley Telga and Maxine (Leo) Guzik; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Thomas (Marion) Zambito, Nellie (Joseph) Licurse, James (Jessie) Zambito, Al (Ginny) Zambito, Rose (Harold) Barnum.

Michael P. Monacelli, 54, of Albion died April 7, 2021 in Strong Memorial Hospital following a long illness.  He was born March 10, 1967 in Brockport, a son of Peter and Phyllis (LoGalbo) Monacelli and had lived in this area most of his life. 

Mike attended Holy Family Parish and was a lover of all animals and in years past, used to raise Pomeranians.  He enjoyed computer gaming; as well as well as coaching little league teams in earlier years.  He had a great love of baseball,  particularly because it afforded him the time to spend with his boys tossing the ball around for hours at a time. 

Mr. Monacelli was predeceased by his father, Peter A. Monacelli.  Michael is survived by his children: Nicholas (Shelby) Monacelli of Albion, Jamison Monacelli of Albion; his mother, Phyllis Monacelli of Brockville; his brother, Peter (Terri) Monacelli of Holley; his grandchildren: Willow, Echo, Luna, Ruby; his niece, Kylie; his nephew, Alex; as well as several aunts and uncles.

Franklin Dale Shawver, lovingly known as “Papa Tates,” passed peacefully in his sleep at home on April 7, 2021 with his wife Shirley of 66 years at his side.

Frank was born in Pennsylvania to the late Marlin and Virginia (Spacht) Shawver. The family moved to Albion, NY while he was in his teens. Frank went to Albion School and graduated in 1951. He married Shirley (Nudd) in 1955 and was working at Starkweather Freight Lines when called up for the Army in 1957. On returning from the Army, he continued at Starkweather’s for over 40 years. 

Frank was a member of the Carlton United Methodist Church, Carlton Fire Dept. and the Black North Rod & Gun Club. As an avid conservationist he was one of a group that released Wild Turkeys into our area. He loved to teach his children, grandchildren and younger friends how to “call in” turkeys and how to fish for trout. In the fall he liked to go to the Benzette, PA to the Elk Museum and go scouting in the mountains to see them. After retiring, Frank and Shirley along with friends, Robert and Joan Higley, traveled around the U.S. visiting 48 of the 50 states including Alaska where they shared champagne at the Arctic Circle. Frank would meet daily with his lifelong friends at McDonalds for coffee and he said they were trying to solve the world’s problems. At the end of many conversations Frank was known to say “keep your nose clean” and “don’t take any wooden nickels.” 

Franklin was predeceased by his brothers: Randy, Donald, Glen and Gerald, and his sister, Eva Klafehn, sisters-in-law: Marie and Carolyn, and brother-in-law, Rick. On his wife’s side he was predeceased by Lucille (Jack) Preston, Doris (Joseph) Pinna, Ruthie (George) Jones and Kenneth Nudd.

 Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley; children: Cindy, Connie (Ken McPherson), Dale, Cathy (Jeff) Brien; grandchildren: Joshua, Eric (Abigail), Jessica (Jeff), Hayley (Jason), Brent (Hayley) and Evan; great-grandchildren: Kiri, Chase, Braylin, Ashton, Esme and Scarlett; sisters-in-law, Janice (Tom) Kelly-Mack, Ann Shawver and Maryjane Nudd; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a private family service at Frank’s request, at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

David L. Canham, 89, passed away on April 3, 2021, in the Martin-Linsin Residence Home in Albion. He was born in Albion to the late Lester and Mable (Plummer) Canhamand grew up in Gaines.

He graduated from Albion Central School and was proud to have been a part of the class of 1949 (“the 49-ers).  He went on to graduate from General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan where he received his diploma in mechanical engineering in 1955.  That year he married Annette O’Conner, the mother of his children. David had numerous business ventures over the next years, retiring from G.M. in 1981.

He enjoyed hunting and had humorous stories of those times with his boys. As a family, they enjoyed boating and fishing. David was a member of the Brockport Free Methodist Church where he was active in the A.B.F. Having a strong Spiritual love for the Lord, he wanted others to know the Jesus he knew, so started a Bible study/prayer group. In the last few years, he led a group in his home; also leading a worship meeting at the LeRoy Green.

David was predeceased by his wife Annette and their son Colin. He is survived by his children: David A. (Louise), Timothy (Linda) and Patricia (Michael) Robinson. He is also survived by his wife of 12 years, Barbra Titus Canham; and her children: Peter (Nancy). Elizabeth (Jim) Irene and Dan (Cathy), his brother Paul Canham and sister Sharon Saddler. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no prior calling hours.  David’s memorial service will be held on Sat., April 10, at 11 a.m. in the Brockport Free Methodist Church followed by his graveside service at Mt. Albion. Gerard Joseph “Jerry” Davis, 70, of Medina, NY, entered eternal life on Easter Sun., April 4, 2021 in Buffalo, NY.

Jerry was born April 24, 1950 in Buffalo, NY. He grew up in Batavia, NY, the son of Dr. Richard F. and Mary M. Davis. Following his high school graduation in 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Vietnam War on board the USS San Jose. He later moved to Medina where he lived and worked for many years.

He is survived by his three sisters: Mary Ellen Davis of Akron, NY, Carol Anne Biniek (Richard) of Shakopee, MN and Dr. Elizabeth Davis (Michael Marino) of E. Amherst, NY; two nephews and one niece. He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Richard and Mary Davis.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to his friends in Medina, NY who cared about him over the many years he lived there.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Mon., April 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia with full military honors accorded at graveside. Memorials in Jerry’s memory may be made to any veteran’s organization of donor’s choice.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Celeste (Matthew) Marino; also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce was an active member of the North Tonawanda Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved sharing the Bible’s promise of life on a Paradise earth free from suffering and death under God’s Kingdom rule and looked forward to being resurrected to life in perfect health in that future earthly Paradise.

Harold F. Thompson

12/30/1930 – 4/2/2021

Harold leaves this world after a long and full life.  He leaves behind his wife, Barbara, of 40 years; his children: Cindy Makowski (Walter), Laurie Cole (Reid), Eileen Ryan (Scott) and Kris Thompson (Julie); his step-children: Michael Brownell, Wendy Kelly and Stephen Brownell. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Harold J. Thompson, and his brothers: Mervin, Keith, Loren and William.

Harold was proud of his time in the army and has proudly supported our military and law enforcement. He was a lifetime member of the Elks.  He loved hunting and fishing, and telling stories of his time in Germany and traveling around the country with his beloved wife, Barb, in their motorhome. He will be sadly missed.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Carl Arnett, 69 of Medina, passed away on Sat., April 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his wife and two children.

He was born on July 26, 1951 in Medina, a son of the late Charles and Jean (Kepner) Arnett. He graduated from Medina High School in 1970, the same year he met his wife, Marge Stawicki. They were married in 1971 and made their home in Medina. Carl worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester for 34 years, retiring at the age of 62. He and his son bought a race horse named Give Me Credit and did very well at Batavia Downs and Buffalo Raceway winning many races.

Survivors include his wife, Marge Arnett; daughter, Jenni Arnett; son, Jeremy Arnett; three brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

ALBION – George R. “Rusty” Lusk, 69, passed away on April 4, 2021. He was born August 7, 1951 in Albion to the late George and Irene (Smith) Lusk.

Rusty was a member of the Lyndonville Fire Company and worked as a draftsman for many years. He enjoyed spending time around motorcycles, his dog Tipper, and horse Stosh. Rusty loved playing music, especially the guitar and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William “Billy” Lusk, and son-in-law, Adriel Rodriguez.

Rusty is survived by his children, James Lusk, Bonnie Lusk Rodriguez, Emily (Mitchell Lowenstein) Lusk; grandchildren, Autumn Lusk, Bailey Lusk, Reynaldo Pina, Alexiel Rodriguez and Azrianna Offley; sisters, Vicky Lusk Bane, Jennifer (Tom Manning) Lusk Rider, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

HOLLEY – Marcia “Bunny” Howard Dodson passed away peacefully in Novato on March 27, 2021 surrounded by her husband of 41 years Dallas Dodson and her children. Bunny was born and raised in Holley, New York. She was the youngest daughter of Starr and Luther Howard, and sister to Patte Park and Mary Howard Lusk.

A farm girl at heart, she loved her childhood home in New York. She spent many seasons picking cherries, peaches, and apples. She attended Holley Central High and graduated in 1957. During high school, Bunny was active in the American Junior Red Cross for western New York and twice attended the University of Buffalo for summer leadership training. Bunny’s love of music originated from her Aunt Babs Howard who was her music teacher from 7th grade-12th grade. While in high school, she sang in the Chorus and the Girls Glee Club, played the French horn in the concert band, was a Drum Majorette in the marching band, a cheerleader, and participated in school government serving as class secretary and class treasurer. Following high school, she attended SUNY College at Brockport and graduated with a BS degree in Education.

In 1961, with her teaching degree in hand, she accepted her first teaching job at the newly built Mill Lane Junior High School in Farmingdale, N.Y. She was one of 75 staff members, of which most were first year teachers.

In 1962, she visited a few close friends who were teaching in California and fell in love with the Bay Area. In the summer of 1963 she drove to California in her light blue Spitfire and accepted a teaching position at Hill Junior High School in Novato teaching English. After settling in Marin, she married Joseph F. Neary in 1964 and had two children Holly and Joseph. Throughout her 38 year teaching career, she taught at Edna Maguire Elementary, Rancho Elementary, and Sinaloa Middle School. Bunny loved teaching and her many students throughout the years. Her positive attitude, beautiful smile, infectious laugh, encouraging words, and quick sense of humor created a classroom environment where all students felt important and loved.

In 1979, Bunny met and married Dallas Dodson. She and Dallas continued to live in Novato and raise their children together. Bunny loved watching her grandchildren in sports and recitals, and often volunteered in their classrooms. She sang competitively with the  Redwood Empire Sweet Adelines. She competed three times internationally attending singing competitions in Indianapolis, New Orleans, and Orlando. In recent years, Bunny enjoyed entertaining her friends and family at their cabin in Tahoe. Throughout her adult life, Bunny was a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, The Cancer Society, The Marin Retired Teachers Association, and a 41 year member of the Presbyterian Church of Novato where she served as a Deacon and helped with special services and events. She also served as a board member for 3 years with The Family Service Agency of Marin and was a former League President of “The Family Store” in Mill Valley.

Bunny is predeceased by her parents Starr and Luther Howard; and her sister Mary Howard Lusk. Bunny is survived by her husband, Dallas Dodson, her two children: Holly(Joe) Hass and  Joseph (Jamie) Neary, her sister Patte Park and Dallas’s children Anastasia Dodson (Julie VanTilburg) and Jake (Stacey) Dodson. Bunny is also survived by her grandchildren: Laura Hass, Olivia Hass, and Joseph Hass, Aubrey Neary, Caitlin Neary, and Patrick Neary, Luke Dodson, Zack Dodson, and Ashley Dodson, Toni and Annabelle Knox, as well as many nieces and nephews in New York and Florida.

A private burial service will be held at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Novato, CA. A celebration of  Bunny’s life will be held on a future date. LEWISTON – Walter John Fuller, 83, went home to be with his Lord on March 26, 2021. He was born July 26, 1937. He died at age 83 at home surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Niagara Hospice and his devoted personal aide.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy (Crowell); his children, Cliff (Cathy), Stephen, David (Cheryl), Tara (Joseph), Noelle (Anthony) and Heather. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored.

Walt was the son of Walter and Gertrude Fuller (Grimes) and the oldest of his 6 siblings: William, Lawrence (Karen), Gerald (Carol), Evelyn Johnston (Clifford), and (predeceased) Charles (Pat).

He was born at home and grew up on the family farm in Johnson’s Creek, New York. Growing up on the farm, Walt was no stranger to hard work, and working on the farm instilled in him a love for being outdoors. Nick, his oldest grandson of whom he was especially proud, inherited his hard work ethic.

Walt’s life centered around his wife, family, his love for them unwavering. He enjoyed family camping trips out West and in the Adirondacks, puttering around the yard planting and gardening with his wife Judy, and had a large workshop in his barn where you could find him working passionately on any one of his many projects. A favorite hobby that brought him great joy was making bird houses with his granddaughter, Judy. They would hang the birdhouses around the yard and spend hours watching the birds. Walt was also active with his son, Cliff, in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts when Cliff was growing up. He later followed this tradition with his grandson, Garrett, who is working on his Eagle Scout rank doing a project in his grandfather’s honor.

Walt was a master butcher for over 57 years. After working for years for a local meat market he ventured off and opened Walt’s World of Meat in Tonawanda, then later moved his business to Lewiston, New York where he opened The Natural Link. Walt knew all of his customers by name and thought of them as friends. He took great pride in his work and thoroughly enjoyed the service he provided. Walt was a long-standing member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Lewiston where he served on the church council and spent years volunteering his time to help maintain the church and its grounds.

A celebration of Walt’s life will be held on May 8th, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church 915 Oneida St. Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Niagara Hospice in Walt’s name.
