David R. Reynolds, 61, of Albion passed away Aug. 31, 2021 at his home with his loved ones by his side.  David was born Nov. 26, 1959 in Rochester and attended Albion High School.  David had a passion for driving truck and listing to country music.  He served in the U.S. Army.  David always had a story to tell and loved being around his grandchildren and family. 

 He is survived by wife, Sandra; children: William (Julie Messmer) Cabic, Justin (April Sample) Cabic, Michael Cabic, David, Derrick, Harley and Tabitha; 13 grandchildren; Papa’s girls: Jemma Lee and Nala; siblings: Randy, Larry, Ronnie, Brian, Pam and Karen; several nieces, nephews, cousins. David was predeceased by his brother, Rob. 

 The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Ave., Albion on Tue., Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., followed by military honors at the funeral home.

Emerson L. “Tinker” Young, 75, of Lyndonville entered into rest on Sun., Aug. 29, 2021.

Born Feb. 21, 1946 in Medina, Tinker was a son of the late Emerson J. and Mildred (Corser) Young. Tinker, a Vietnam veteran, proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Constellation CVA 64 from 1964-1968.

Tinker was employed by Harrison Radiator Division of GMC for over thirty years and retired as a welder. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and ATV riding. He was a proud supporter of the NRA and SCOPE. Tinker was actively involved throughout his life with the Medina and Lyndonville Fire Departments. He was also a member of Lincoln Post #1483 VFW in Medina. He loved the water and could often be found aboard a boat or at Point Breeze watching the sunset. Tink had a passion for hot rods and classic cars. He was always ready to share a story during his many car shows. He will forever be remembered for his mischievous spirit, kind heart, strong beliefs and devotion to God, Country, family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra (Sewar-Walls) Young in 2011; and his older brother, Russell Young. Tinker is survived by son, James (Shelly) Luczak; daughter, Tricia (Michael) Croce; grandchildren: Tyler and Jenna Luczak and Adriana and Benjamin Croce; brother, Robert (Jean) Young; and sister, Roxanne (Roger) Hueber. He has numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Calling hours will be held on Fri., Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church, 12111 Ridge Rd., Medina, with his funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m. Interment, with full military honors, will be held in Boxwood Cemetery, Medina.

Lynn Royce Cliff, 81, of Sebastian, Fla. (Albion) died Thu., Aug. 12, 2021 in Sebastian Medical Center, Florida after a long illness.  He was born April 1, 1940 to Royce & Marjorie Cliff (Haylett).

Lynn lived in the Albion all of his life spending winters in Florida.  He was part owner of Royce H Cliff Trucking in the 1960s & 1970s.  He was also the owner of Cliff Construction, digging as many as 38 ponds in one summer. He could fix anything from a bulldozer to a go cart.  He specialized in Detroit Diesels and loved “souping” them up!  He loved fishing in the ocean. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for all of his friends. He was always all in for a party.  He served in the U.S. Army from September 1963 through August 1965, spending part of his service time in Vietnam. Lynn was loved by many and will be missed by all.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eunice; daughter, NancyLynn and his parents, Royce and Marjorie Cliff.  He is survived by his wife Mary; sister, Joan Davidson; son, Michael Cliff (Tracy); grandchildren: Edward Cliff, Tiffany Reed (Chris), and Michael S. Cliff; great-granddaughter, Taylor Reed; and several nieces.

John L. Vader,  72, of Medina entered into rest on Sun., Aug. 29, 2021 at the WNY VA Health Care System in Buffalo.

Born Sept. 25, 1948 in Buffalo, John was a son of the late Clarence L. Vader and Doris (Bissonette) and Louis Miles. A Vietnam veteran, John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965-1967.

Beloved husband of Patricia A. (Carroll) Vader of Medina; loving father of Kimberly (Randy) Taylor of Fla., the late Eric (Misti) Charache and John (Mary Ellen) Vader, Jr. of Medina; very special grandpa to: Griffin, Mia and Zara Taylor, Richie and Addie Miller, Eric, Jr., Aubree and Maverick Charache and Jill Vader; brother of: Laura (Jose) Benavides of Pa., Michael (Mary Anne) Miles of NC and the late Terry Gordon and Leanne Strock; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Dan “The Kid” (Sheila) Tabor.

Visitation will be held on Thu., Sept. 2 from 10-11 a.m. at Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church, 324 Catherine St., Medina, with military honors accorded at 11 a.m. and a memorial service to follow. Richard L. Clark entered into rest on Aug. 8, 2021.

He was born in Wolcott, NY on Sept. 10, 1940, the son of the late Leo and Iva Clark. Dick graduated from Medina High School in 1959 and attended Mohawk Valley Community College where he graduated with a degree in Advertising and Marketing. In his career, Dick was involved in several successful partnerships and businesses. Lastly, he worked for Fulton Boiler of Pulaski, NY. He moved to Florida in 2001 to open a sign design business and later retired due to ill health.

Besides his parents, Dick is predeceased by his siblings: Thomas Clark and Barbara Voelker.

Dick is survived by his partner of 35 years, Laverca LaBeau; children: Lincoln (Yan) Clark, Laurel (John) Bucci, and Ian (Irene) Clark; grandchildren: Ethan, Melinda, Zoie, Delia and Max; sisters: Seanne (Ted) Narburgh and Gina (DC) Colonna. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and close friends, Bill and Cathy Cotriss and Louie Buckner.

There are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Medina, NY.

Donald Seitz Hale, 44, of Medina, NY entered into rest on Sun., Aug. 22, 2021.

Donald was born to Barbara (Higgs) Hale on July 27, 1977 in Albion. He was a graduate of Medina High School, class of 1995 and went on to graduate from SUNY Fredonia in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Donald had several careers, reinventing himself and self-learning new skills along the way from New York to Delaware and Pennsylvania. He lived in Buffalo with his brother while working in marketing as well as bartending on the side. Life and work then took Donald to Wilmington, Delaware, where he earned a livelihood in sales in the plumbing industry, traveling the country. In 2010 he moved to nearby Philadelphia working as an administrative assistant to a prestigious physician at the Sydney Kimmel Cancer Center. Home beckoned Donald to return to Medina in 2015. He loved working with his hands and wasn’t afraid to dirty them, like his carpenter grandfather, and so took up home repair and remodeling. He was in demand throughout Western New York by friends and family.

Donald also enjoyed relaxing in the company of his Delta Chi fraternity brothers, Joe Mullikin and Pete Carreno, and spent many winters camping in Maryland. He became close with their families too, camping and hiking at Letchworth Park, and fishing with their children who often gave Donald a crayon drawing of their adventures with him. They were so taken with Donald that they called him “Uncle Donald”. At family gatherings you would find him surrounded by boisterous youngsters playing kickball or horsing around in the pool.

As a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and Kentucky Wildcats basketball, sports were Donald’s avocation. One never disturbed him during March Madness. He was a life-long fisherman, mentored in his youth by paternal grandparents, Roger and Dolores Askew, aboard their 19 foot Starcraft.

Our family will cherish the memories of his warm heart, kindness and attention to kids, and his easy throaty laugh forever. Survivors include his parents, Barbara and Wayne Hale of Medina; brother, Christian Hale of New York City; maternal grandmother, Rita Conner; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and best friends, Pete and Joe from college, whom he considered family. He was predeceased by his special aunt, Elaine McPherson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced at the convenience of the family. Burton Edward Stamp Sr., 87, went home to be with the Lord Thu., Aug. 26, 2021.

Born May 12, 1934 in Brighton, NY to Herbert W. Stamp and Mable (Crouse) Stamp.  Burton was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce May (Burch) Stamp; his eldest daughter, Darlene (Rosevelt) Little and his nine siblings.

He is survived by six of his seven children: Burton E. Stamp Jr. of Medina NY, Sharon (John) Maahs of Cleaveland, Tenn., Yvonne (John ) Sims of Medina, NY, Denise (Bruno) Mangiola of Medina, NY, Darryl (Tracey) Stamp Sr. of Johnson City, Tenn., and Melissa Young of Basom, NY.  He leaves behind a living legacy in his 32 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Burton was a life time member of Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church.  He loved his church and his church family, and was a great believer in telling all he met about Jesus and what he did for him.

We will celebrate his life on Sat., Sept. 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. for visitation with service to follow at 11 a.m. at Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church, 12111 Ridge Rd., Medina, NY 14103.

The service will be live streamed on Facebook for those who are unable to attend. There will be a dinner immediately following in the fellowship hall.

ALBION – David (Dave) M. Licurse, Jr., 56, passed away from cancer on August 24, 2021, surrounded by family, which is what he desired. He was born in Albion on January 24, 1965.

He is predeceased by his father, David M. Licurse, Sr., and is the son of Patricia (Maloney) Licurse. Other survivors include sisters, Debbie Licurse and Denise Licurse; two nieces, Gabrielle Licurse and Stephanie (Licurse) Austin; a nephew, Gabriel Licurse; two grand-nephews, Justin and Isaiah; and one grand-niece, Nevaeh.

He shared a residence with his sister, Debbie. David was employed by Xerox for 30 years and worked at Cooley, in Palo Alto, CA. While working for Xerox and at Cooley, Dave made many incredible friends throughout his time there, and whole-heartedly looked forward to Cooley’s annual legendary ping pong tournaments.

David was a deeply devoted family man and cherished his family, which includes many cousins, aunts and uncles, as well as friendships, which he has enjoyed since childhood. Growing up, David was highly competitive and participated in many sports, such as baseball, lacrosse, water polo and golf. David’s Fairport High School water polo team went on to win the New York State championship. He also loved playing dice games, cards and board games at home with his family over the years. Dave could also be defined by the holidays and was sometimes called “Mr. Holiday” in the family, especially around Christmas when he was consumed by Hallmarks Christmas specials.

He maintained longstanding friendships from New York, Texas to California spanning decades. David was forever dedicated to being charitable toward others by quietly lending a hand at a moment’s notice, and had a special affection for all sports, babies and pandas. He was a walking encyclopedia when it came to sports.

Anyone who knew Dave, knew he could simply light up a room with his incredible smile, wit, or a stellar ping pong match. Dave was truly the humble “gentle giant” and accepted people easily. He left us much too early and will be profoundly missed by many. We will always love you and remember you for the very special light you brought into the world. You will remain in our hearts always, Dave. May you rest in peace now.

Alice V. Gilbert, 103, of Albion died Aug. 24, 2021 in Medina Memorial Hospital following a long illness.  She was born Dec. 26, 1917 in Scranton, Pa. to William and Alice (Comstock) Reed and had lived in this area since 1951.

Alice was a strong, firm and dedicated housewife and mother.  She had a great faith, loved to read the bible and attended many churches throughout the years.

Mrs. Gilbert was predeceased by her husband, William; and 2 sons: Thomas and Allan; as well as 4 brothers and 5 sisters.  She is survived by her children: Joanne Eller of NC, William (Linda Donohue) Gilbert of Middleport, Clarence (Cynthia) Gilbert of CT; daughters-in-law: Esther Gilbert of Middleport, Jana Gilbert of VA; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Judy D. Spencer, 65, of Gasport, passed away unexpectedly in the Line of Duty to her community on Aug. 24, 2021. Judy was born July 6, 1956 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Donald and Mildred (Shaffer) Lyons. 

Judy was a 1975 graduate of Roy-Hart Central School. After high school Judy joined the workforce and was employed at Harrisons working in the cafeteria with Canteen. Judy had a love for animals, camping, doing crafts, and above all else, her family and friends. 

Judy was a proud life member of Hartland Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. Judy served with honor and distinction.  She was known to be a reliable face in the time of need of others. Judy was a top responder for several years and was honored as “Firefighter of the Year” for 2016.  Additionally, Judy was a member of the Gasport Chemical Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary for many years. 

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Steve T. Spencer; children, Lisa (Matt) Spencer and Donald Spencer, both of Gasport; sisters, Janet (Chris) Lyons of Gasport and Donna (John) Vetter of Lockport. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Judy was predeceased by her parents and father-in-law, Gerald Spencer.

Linda C. Drum, 58, of Gasport passed away suddenly Aug. 24, 2021 as a result of an automobile accident.  Linda was born Oct. 28, 1962 in Lockport, NY the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Engert) Baehr. 

She was a 1980 graduate of Roy-Hart Central School and Bryant and Stratton in 1985.  Linda was the former owner of Drumees Corner Store in Middleport and after retirement she became a fitness instructor at the Medina YMCA for Silver Sneakers.  Linda was a member of the Gasport Ladies Auxiliary and a founding member of the Gasport Beautification Committee.  Linda loved sunsets and sunrises at the lake, Alex Bay and Venice, Florida.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Michael; son, Clayton (Carey) Drum; daughter, Emily (Andrew Gow) Drum; grandchildren, Cody, Matthew and Alex; brother, Douglas Baehr of Gasport and sister, Jane (Robert) Stanley of Middleport; father and mother in-law; Rick and Carol Drum; brothers-in-law, Eric (Tiffany) Drum and Andy (Cathy) Drum; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Linda is also survived by many friends.

John A. Keding, 85, of Albion passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2021. John was born Sept. 2, 1935 in Buffalo a son of the late Albert and Irene (Lazear) Keding. 

John’s love of mechanics started at a young age while working at Western Auto and then for the Smith Brothers. He was a graduate of Albion High School, class of 1953. He furthered his education in the field of automotive technology at the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, a two-year program. He worked for General Motors for three years, served in the Army at Fort Dix from 1958-1960 and then in the Army Reserves from 1960-1964. He worked for The Engle-Harrison Motor Co., Inc. for many years, eventually being instrumental in the building of their larger facility on Rt 31 that opened in 1972; he taught mechanics at B.O.C.E.S and also taught an evening class that he called W.O.W. (Women on Wheels). 

John is probably best known for Keding Automotive Service, which he established in 1974, located on East Ave., Albion. After 46 years in business and 70 years being a respected mechanic, John retired in August 2020. John said he was going to miss his customers and daily interaction with the community. 

 John was a long standing member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albion and an active member for 52 years of the Albion Lions Club. He joined the club in 1968 and served as president in 1976 and for about 25 years as club secretary, taking attendance, writing the minutes from meeting and doing all the reports. John was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for his love and dedication to the Lions club. He was instrumental in all club functions but some of his favorites were selling roses for Mother’s Day at his shop & cooking sausage at the Albion Strawberry Festival. He was also known for his grilling skills cooking sausage at the Pine Hill Airport Fly in Breakfast. Whenever there was an opportunity to give back to his community, John was there. 

John’s idea of a vacation or time off was spent working with his hands – he enjoyed wood working, repairing things & doing household renovations – several stories can be told of his time spent helping others renovate their homes, including a few with the “Drill from Hell.” 

John was a lover of all animals, especially his “grand pups.” He was known for his sense of humor & sarcasm, for being kind, honest, patient, hardworking & generous. He truly is a legend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pat (Schleider) Keding; children: Karen (David) Watts (NC), James (Laureen) Keding (FL) and Chris (Michael) Buongiorne; grandchildren: Jacob (Jessica) Marks, Katie (Gary) Pahura, Sara Keding (FL), Emma Keding (FL) and Elijah Buongiorne; great-grandchildren: Owen Marks and Noah Keding (FL); brother, Fred (Sharon) Keding (AK), sister-in-law, Margaret Grose; and several nieces and nephews. 

Sat., Sept. 11 we celebrate his life in a way that would mean the most to him in the place that speaks best of John. Margaret A. McKenna, 96, of Albion died Dec. 11, 2020 at Elderwood at Brockport. She was born July 20, 1924 at her home in Royalton, NY, a daughter of the late Blanche Droman (Alfred) Gawve and Warren Schultz.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George V. McKenna, Sr.; and her brother, Lester A. (Marion) Schultz.

Margaret’s main focus and joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She spent her life providing behind the scenes help to her children in the endeavors they pursued. For all her family she was the sounding board for whatever they needed. She was very interested in all events of their lives, being current and involved. She in turn, means the world to her family. Her 26th great-grandchild arrived the day before she went to be with the Lord. Where she will be reunited with the love of her life, George Mckenna Sr.

Her interests included playing cards, games, square dancing, listening to country music, reading, traveling, going to Disney (especially on the Tower of Terror) and shopping for the perfect gifts.

She is survived by her children: Gary (Linda) McKenna of Fairport, Sheila (Verne) Allport of Albion, Marcia (James) Zambito of Albion, Dr. George (Iva) McKenna, Jr. of Albion; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Merle E. Snell, 89, of Hartland died unexpectedly Aug. 21, 2021 at his home.  He was born Feb. 26, 1932 to Burton and Lottie (Patterson) Snell and a was a lifelong resident of this area.  

Merle was a member of the Quaker Road Methodist Church, a Charter Member of the Hartland Volunteer Fire Company, an active member of the Town of Hartland Planning Board since 1974. He enjoyed gardening and cooking turkey dinners year-round.  He was also co-owner/operator of Snell’s Service Station.  

Mr. Snell was predeceased by his wife, Lois; and a son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Suzanne Snell.  He is survived by his children: Kim (Linda) Snell of Medina, Randall Snell of Gasport, Steven (Brandy) Snell of Burt, William Snell of Hartland, Bailey Snell of Royalton; brother, Donald (Beverly) Snell of Hartland; sister, Karen “Kay” (Tom) Doherty of Mich.; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard C. “Dick” Hapeman, of Albion, entered into eternal rest Aug. 23, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born Nov. 1, 1936 to Leon and Irene Hapeman in Rochester, NY.

He enjoyed over 50 years of marriage to Delores (Leonard) Hapeman, whom he married Jan. 26, 1957. After graduating from West High, he attended the University of Rochester, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree. Dick worked at Eastman Kodak for 33 years, retiring in 1994. 

Dick and Dody enjoyed many road trips together, sometimes not even having a destination. He was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church. Dad loved everything outdoors, especially watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing in the front yard and swimming in the quarry.

Although the last 25 years were a challenge, he embraced it with grace and dignity. He truly appreciated all the support and care he was given allowing him to remain in his home.

Besides his parents, Dick was predeceased by his wife, Dody; son, Jeff; and brother, Don.

He is survived by his children: Jackie (Al) Antinarelli, Sandy (Mike Ianni), Steve, Tim (Barbie), Andrew, Charlie, Heidi (Eric) Taylor; sisters: Rene and Joan Hapeman; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he absolutely cherished.

Marshall D. “Mo” Hare, 68, of Middleport died Aug. 22, 2021 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.  He was born March 26, 1953 in Lockport to Kenneth and Edith (James) Hare and was a lifetime resident of this area.  

Marshall was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outside.  He was a very social person, loved animals and was very outgoing with a great sense of humor.  

Mr. Hare was predeceased by his daughter, Carrie; brother, Lynn; and his beloved dog, Honey.  He is survived by his fiancé, Deborah Glenn; sons: Jeremy, Christopher, Brian and Brandon; brothers: Gary (Janet), Dan (Sheryl), Roger (Doreen), Russell; his dogs: Aries and Sassy; and cat, Holly.  

There will be no calling hours.  Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Marshall’s Life, Wed., Sept. 1, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport.  Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Hartland Cemetery.

Brenda L. Knight, 82, of Albion died Aug. 21, 2021 in the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence following a long illness. 

She was born Dec. 7, 1938 in Albion to Martin and Susie (DiLovico) Adduci and was a lifetime resident of this area.  Brenda was the owner of Brenda’s All About Crafts Shop for over 15 years and was also a member of Holy Family Parish.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and dolls.  In addition, she taught knitting for several years at the library. 

Mrs. Knight was predeceased by her husband, Philip, and 2 brothers: Gary and Martin Adduci.  

She is survived by her children: Michael (Nancy) Knight of Spencerport, Susie (Kevin) Parker of Albion, Lauri Keeler of Batavia, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Amy Freeman. 

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service Thu., Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion.  Private interment will be held in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Gilbert L. Narburgh II, 82, of Barre died Aug. 21, 2021 in his home following a brief illness.  He was born Nov. 4, 1938 in Barre Center to Gilbert and Doris (Ballard) Narburgh and was a lifelong resident of this area.  

Gilbert was a member of the West Barre United Methodist Church, the Barre Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking for his family.  

Mr. Narburgh was predeceased by his brother, James Narburgh.  He is survived by his children: Gilbert (Lisa) Narburgh III of Batavia, Michael Narburgh of Barre, Cindy (Daniel Spriegel) Smith of Albion, Sherri Narburgh of Ontario, Kimberly (Paul) Luthart of Medina, Gregory (Amanda) Narburgh of Oakfield; his brother, Robert (Diana) Narburgh of Fla.; his sister, Mary Shuler of Gaines; and 8 grandchildren.

Olga Fava Dean, 92, formerly of Oakfield passed away peacefully at The Villages of Orleans Health & Rehab Center in Albion on May 23, 2020 joining her granddaughter, Marcy Mruczek in Heaven.

Born Nov. 10, 1927 in Batavia, Olga was a daughter of the late Guglielmo and Antonietta (Minello) Fava. She raised a family of seven children. Olga worked for many years at Fisher-Price Toys in Medina, where she made many close friends. Olga was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Medina. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was a constant prize winner. An amazing cook, Olga will be remembered for her amazing lasagna and tasty fruit pies. Her sweet smile, jokes and maternal love will be affectionately remembered by her loved ones. A biography could not possibly tell all of her tales and travel trips that she so enjoyed.

Survivors include her seven children: Donna Dean (Arthur M.D.) Mruczek of Batavia; Paul  Dean of Venice, Fla.; Diane Muzychenko of Cleveland, Ohio; Jerry (Carolyn) Dean of Morristown, Tenn.; Denise (Christopher) Melcher of Elizabethtown, Kent.; David (Mayo) Dean of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Matthew Dean of Jacksonville, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister in-law, Anna Fava; and grandson-in-law, Patrick Basior.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Marcy (Mruczek) Basior in 2010; husband, Donald L. Dean in 2004; and brothers: Gino Fava and Edwin Fava.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tue., Aug. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church, 8656 Church Stt, E. Pembroke, NY 14056. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia. A reception will follow at the Caryville Inn, 25 Main St, Oakfield, NY 14125.

David Guy Petta, 75, of Albion passed away surrounded by loved ones on Aug. 19, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital.  He was born Jan. 23, 1946 in Albion to Guy and Irma Petta and was a lifelong resident of Albion.

He was a 1963 graduate of Albion Central School where he excelled at baseball and football. After graduation David enlisted in the U.S. Navy where received his associates degree in electronics from the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Chicago, Illinois.  David served aboard the guided missile lighter cruiser USS Providence, homeported in San Diego, Ca. After serving David joined New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) in 1967 until his retirement.

He was a member of the Holy Family Parish, the American Legion, the VFW, the Knights of Columbus, the NRA, and was a drum corps musician and enthusiast, playing both the drums and the french horn.  David loved spending time with his many friends golfing, playing cards, and was an avid sportsman having hunted throughout the United States and Africa.  David loved the New York Yankees and Jets.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Becky; daughter, Nicole Petta of San Francisco; his sister and brother-in-law: Gail and Michael Wheeler of Fairhaven and their children: Meghan (John) Collins and Andrew (Katie) Wheeler, his stepchildren: Angela Yocum of Victor; William Baron of MI; Scott Baron of Lockport; and 5 grandchildren: Billy Jean Braron, Emily Baron, David Baron, Hannah Yocum, and Samantha Yocum.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 21 West Ave., Albion, Fri., Aug. 27  from 4-7 p.m.  Family and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial Sat., Aug. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Parish followed by his interment with Military Honors at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Supportive Care of Orleans, P.O.
