Lyndonville, Kendall post G-R soccer wins

Lyndonville edged Wheatland-Chili 1-0 and Kendall downed Pembroke 5-0 in Genesee Region League boys soccer action this evening.

A first half goal by Juan Alberdi off an assist from Barrett Alexander proved to be just enough scoring for Lyndonville.

Brody Hazel earned the shutout in goal for the Tigers as the quartet of Jesus Rosario, Michael Alexander, Austin Fonda and Chanse Amsdill anchored the defense.

Kendall jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead on goals by William Kludt, Jonathan Esposito and Brandon Barrett on a penalty kick.

Kludt and Pablo Rosario-Reyes scored goals in the second half as Kendall improves to 8-0-1 in the league and 11-1-1 overall.

In another G-R contest, Attica nipped Holley 1-0.

Lady Tigers clinch tie for field hockey title

Clinching at least a tie for the title, defending champion Akron downed Roy-Hart 6-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game this afternoon.

Ava Lombard and Mackenzie Tomporowski each scored 3 goals to lead the way for Akron which improves to 10-0 with two games remaining on the league schedule.

Madigan Regan, Morgan Tomporowski, Brooke Milhollen and Mackenzie Tomporowski all chipped in with asssits.

The loss drops Roy-Hart to 5-3.

N-O Standings – Akron 10-0, Barker 7-2, Roy-Hart 5-3, Medina 3-5, Wilson 3-6, Newfane 2-8, Kenmore 1-7.

Senior Night volleyball win for Lady Tigers

An overtime win in the opening set sparked Lyndonville to a 27-25, 25-21, 25-13 Senior Night victory over Wheatland-Chili in a Genesee Region League volleyball match this evening.

The Lady Tigers were led by Hannah Fox (15 assists, 6 digs), Alyssa Prine (6 aces, 7 digs), Addie Dillenbeck (11 kills, 1 ace, 17 digs), Madi Davis (3 kills, 7 digs, 1 block), Hannah Marker (3 aces, 3 kills), Olivia Belgiorno (4 aces, 1 kill) and Emma Freas (1 ace, 2 digs).

Medina, Roy-Hart post field hockey wins

Snapping a four league game losing streak, Medina downed host Newfane 4-1 in a Niagara-Orleans field hockey game this evening.

Penelope Schalck scored 2 goals and Emi Batista and Sophia Goyette each added one as the Mustangs improve to 3-5 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart 6, Sacred Heart 0
Roy-Hart blanked Sacred Heart 6-0 in a non league field hockey contest.

Adella Dukes and Alayna Kowalski both had 2 goals as Olivia Marsillo and Brooke Zglinicki each chipped in with 1 to lead the Lady Rams.

Medina to host Alden in key C North test

Having captured four straight C North Division championships Medina’s quest to claim at least a share of a fifth straight title now faces a must win situation  as the Mustangs host unbeaten Alden at 7 p.m. Friday at Vets Park.

Alden brings a 4-0 C North (5-0 overall) record into the key contest while Medina is 4-1 (4-1 overall). Newfane and Cleveland Hill, which are both 3-1 in the division, are also both still in the hunt for a share of the title.

Medina’s lone defeat was a 23-6 loss to Newfane which Alden downed by a narrow 7-6 margin. The Bulldogs defense in fact has allowed more than one touchdown only once in five games.

Following the Alden contest Medina has only one C North game remaining at Maritime on October 19 as the Mustangs will close out the regular season with an interdivisional game at rival Albion on Oct. 25.

Alden will still have two C North games remaining at Akron on Oct. 18 and at home to Cleve Hill on Oct. 25.

Newfane, which hosts Tonawanda on Friday, will also visit Cleve Hill on Oct. 19 and host Maritime on Oct. 25.

Friday’s other C North games at 7 p.m. will have Cleve Hill at Akron and Maritime vs. Roy-Hart/Barker at Barker.

Offensively, Medina is looking to keep the momentum from last week’s second straight 50 point outing, a 50-12 win over visiting Akron, in which quarterback Preston Woodworth, Christian Moss, Kolton Fletcher and Jayzon Wills each ran for a  touchdown, Preston Woodworth passed to Carter Woodworth for a pair of TDs and Cole Callard kicked a school record 3 field goals.

Moss now has over 900 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns while Preston Woodworth has passed for 464 yards and 7 TDs including 3 each to Carter Woodworth and Jerrell Nealy.

Except for the Newfane contest, the Medina defensive unit has allowed no more than one TD in each of the other four games.

Running back Ben Partell and quarterback Mason Urso have both rushed for 4 touchdowns for Alden.

Albion will visit Springville in a B3 Division game at 7 p.m. Friday.

The other B3 games will have Depew at Maryvale and Lew-Port at Dunkirk on Friday and Olean at Lackawanna on Saturday.

Holley will host Allegany-Limestone in a non league 8 Man Division game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Hawks are 4-1 on the season.

Holley and Kendall boys post G-R wins

Holley blanked Pembroke 4-0 and Kendall shutout Wheatland-Chili 7-0 in Geensee Region League boys soccer games this evening.

Chris Mosier and Chase Kempa both scored a pair of goals for Holley which improves to 10-1-2 overall. Mosier, Cam Kelley, Blake Coleman and Gage Yockel each had an assist.

Kendall built up a 4-0 first half lead as Pablo Rosario-Reyes had 2 goals and Jonathan Esposito and Brenden Eichas 1 each.

William Kludt, Vinnie D’Agostino and Cal DiLuicia each netted a goal in the second half as the Eagles boost their overall record to 10-1-1.

Jonny Conte stopped a penalty shot to preserve the shutout in goal.

Girls Soccer
Kendall 5, Greece Odyssey 0
Ava Quintern scored 3 goals and Ryleigh Denning and Sophia Picardo 1 each for Kendall in the 5-0 non league win over Greece Odyssey.

Quintern, Denning, Picardo, Stella Kwiatek and Brynn Hardenbook all had assists as the Lady Eagles improve to 11-1.

R-H girls win; Albion downed in N-O soccer

The front-running Roy-Hart girls topped visiting Medina 10-0 in Niagara-Orleans League soccer action this evening.

Maria Trombley and Kaitlin Mettler both scored 3 goals for the Lady Rams as Kaylie Churchill had 2 and Alexis Capen and Ali Ausman 1 each. Mettler also had 4 assists.

Roy-Hart is now 7-1-1.

The Akron girls improved to 6-1-2 with a 2-0 win over Newfane on goals by Olivia Novak and Graie Leiker.

Wilson scored a pair of victories over Albion.

The front-running Wilson boys improved to 8-0-1 with an 8-0 win over Albion which slips to 6-3.

The Wilson girls boosted their N-O record to 5-1-2 with a 5-2 win over Albion which drops to 1-6-1. Cami London scored both goals for Albion.

The Roy-Hart at Medina boys game was rescheduled for 4:15 p.m. Friday at Vets Park after a miscommunication over the scheduled starting time of today’s game.

Front-running Roy-Hart downed Albion 25-9, 25-12, 25-8 and Akron bested host Medina 25-13, 25-21, 25-20 in Niagara-Orleans League volleyball action this evening.

Raegan Kern and Aubree Parker both had 6 kills for Roy-Hart as Emily Livergood and Lila Brigham both added 4. Ella Martillotta also had 23 assists and 4 aces.

Julia Knight had 3 kills for Albion as Madison LeBaron had 15 digs, Paige Newton 8 and Madison Muckle 7.

Addy Paul had 3 aces and 2 kills for Medina as Maya Anderson added 3 kills and 2 blocks and Sam Heschke 3 digs.

Roy-Hart is now 7-1, Akron 5-3, Medina 1-6, Albion 0-7.

Fast start powers Lady Tigers past Mustangs

A lightning quick scoring burst of two goals in less than a minute and a half sparked front-running Akron to a 4-0 win over Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at Vets Park this evening.

Averi Monkelbaan scored just nine seconds into the game and Mackenzie Tomporowski followed up with another goal just over a minute later to get the Lady Tigers off and rolling.

A second quarter goal by Ava Lombard upped the Lady Tigers lead to 3-0 at the half and Monkelbaan later netted the lone second half goal.

Akron is now 9-0 and Medina 2-5.

Barker 5, Kenmore 0
Barker improved to 7-2 by blanking Kenmore (1-7) 5-0 as Madelina Pavlock scored 3 goals and Jordyn Kinne and Sophia Pavlock each netted 1.

Newfane 1, Wilson 0
Newfane edged rival Wilson 1-0 Monday evening as Nattalie Johnson scored the lone goal off an assist from Roxy Smith.

Barker boys, Roy-Hart girls sweep in X-C

The Barker boys and Roy-Hart girls both swept to a pair of victories in Niagara-Orleans League cross-country action this afternoon.

The Barker boys stayed unbeaten at 6-0 by downing Roy-Hart 22-29 and Akron 24-35. Roy-Hart also bested Akron 24-35.

The Roy-Hart girls improved to 5-1 by defeating Barker 20-37 and Akron 19-37. Akron also nipped Barker 27-28.

Both Roy-Hart teams had the two individual race winners in Josiah Rodriguez and Taylor Alvord.

In the day’s other tri-meet both Newfane teams scored a pair of wins.

The Newfane boys improved to 5-1 by downing Medina 24-31 and 15–50 over an incomplete Wilson team. Medina also downed Wilson.

The Newfane girls stayed unbeaten at 6-0 by scoring a pair of 15-50 wins over Medina and Wilson which both had incomplete trams.

Newfane’s Liam Betteridge finished first and Medina’s Ryder Jones second in the boys race.
