Barker defeated Newfane 260-296 and Medina downed Wilson 266-incomplete this afternoon as both the Bulldogs and Mustangs improve to 2-1 in Niagara-Orleans League golf action.

JJ Prynn took medalist honors with a 48 for Barker as Hudson Prynn and Drew LaGreca both had rounds of 49.

Max Pilon led Medina with a 48.

Wilson’s Ben Meyers took medalist honors with a 42 and Luke Howard added a 49.

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Lockport scored twice in the second half to edge host Roy-Hart 3-1 in the Lady Rams non league season opening girls soccer game.

Maria Trombley tied the game for Roy-Hart with a goal late in the first half off an assist from Ruth Walker.

Roy-Hart next visits Oakfield-Alabama next Tuesday in another non league contest.

Medina evened its Niagara-Orleans League field hockey record at 1-1 by downing host Kenmore 4-1 this evening.

Penelope Schalck, Jennelle Stalker, Emi Batista and Tatianna Maxon took turns scoring the goals for the Mustangs.

In the other N-O contest, Wilson edged rival Newfane 1-0 as Wyatt Thomas scored the lone goal off an assist from Bynn Lepsch. Hailey Hendricks earned the shutout in goal.

Tuning up for the upcoming league season, Roy-Hart downed visiting Lyndonville 25-7, 25-10, 25-17 this evening in a non league volleyball match.

Grace Pearl had 5 spiking kills, Raegan Kern 3 kills, Lauren Snyder 6 assists and Ryleigh Capen 5 assists to lead the way for the Lady Rams.

Roy-Hart will begin defense of its Niagara-Orleans League title at Albion at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Hannah Fox had 3 kills and 2 aces, Emily Dill 1 ace and 1 kill, Sarah Corser 1 kill and Elena Barry 1 ace for Lyndonville.

In another non league match, Alden bested host Medina 25-20, 25-16, 25-17.

Maya Anderson had 4 kills and 3 blocks and Natalie Herbert 2 service aces for Medina which will open the N-O season at Newfane on Thursday.

Anchored by a large veteran group, Medina will begin Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer competition against rival Albion at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vets Park,

Leading the Mustangs veteran contingent are seniors Luke Duffina (Midfield/Defense), Vinny Gray (Forward/Midfield), Jimmy Dieter (Forward/Midfield), Caden Kingsbury (Forward) and Ryan Pegelow (Defense) along with juniors Aleks Seefeldt (Forward/Midfield), Aidan Papaj (Midfield) and Gavin Dahlhaus (Defense). Also returning are senior Briley Allen, Landon Costich and Austin Guido.

Gray, Duffina and Papaj all earned second team N-O All-League honors last fall while Seefeldt was an Honorable Mention selection.

Juniors Cam Fike and River Jones will share the goalkeeping duties.

The Mustangs graduation losses included first team All-League honorees Cole Callard (44 goals), goalie Brady Christiaansen and defender Trenton Morley along with second team honoree forward Tyler Kroening (17 goals) and Honorable Mention selection defender Cam Kenward.

“The key to our season will be patience,” said Coach Steve Luksch. “We lost some key guys to graduation, but I feel we have a nice mix of returners and new guys. But it might take some time to hit our full potential. Our goal will be to be playing our best soccer down the final stretch of the season.”

Medina went 7-2-1 and Albion 7-3 in N-O competition last fall.

Contributed Photo – A reunion is being planned for October 4 marking the 50th anniversary of the Lyndonville boys varsity soccer program which began with this 1976 team.

This season marks the 50th year of boys varsity soccer at Lyndonville High.

To celebrate the occasion a 50-Year Soccer Reunion is being planned as part of Lyndonville’s Homecoming celebration on Saturday, October 4.

The event is being organized by Wes Bradley who coached the Tigers varsity squad from its inception in 1976 to 2002.

Two boys varsity Alumni soccer games are planned for that day. The first game at noon will match those graduating in odd vs. even years from 1977-2000. The second at 1 p.m. will match those graduating in odd vs. even years from 2001 to 2025.

In addition, a Boys Alumni Soccer Social gathering is being planned for 7 to 9 p.m.

“Those LCS Alumni planning to attend, please email Coach Bradley @ wbradley@lcsdk12.org ASAP with the year that you graduated as well as the number of people who will be attending the evening Social Gathering. This will aid in putting teams together and to know the amount of food to be ordered,” said Bradley “All are asked to contact teammates from the year(s) that you played and spread the word to all former players and friends when you see them. Watching fathers, sons and other relatives on the pitch that day should produce lots of memories and good conversation. It would be awesome to have a least one representative from every year. Former coaches have been notified and hopefully some/all will be able to join the gathering. Looking forward to having a great turnout for a once-in-a-lifetime event.”

Bradley added that additionally, as a fundraiser for the LCS Sports Boosters, the group is selling commemorative 50th Anniversary soccer shirts. They are pre-sale only with September 19th being the last day to order. All information regarding ordering may be found on the “Lyndonville Sports Boosters” Facebook website.

Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer and volleyball competition will get under way this coming week.

Medina will host rival Albion at 7 p.m. Thursday and Akron will visit Roy-Hart at noon on Saturday in the soccer openers.

Thursday’s volleyball openers will have defending champion Roy-Hart at Albion, Medina at Newfane and Akron at Wilson all at 6:30 p.m.

Six veterans anchor the lineup for Roy-Hart as the Lady Rams prep to begin defense of their Niagara-Orleans League volleyball championship this week.

Roy-Hart will host Lyndonville in a non league match on Tuesday and then open the N-O campaign at Albion on Thursday, both at 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Rams veteran group includes seniors Ryleigh Capen, Raegan Kern, Grace Pearl, Kylie McOmber and Peyton May along with sophomore Lauren Snyder.

Capen earned first team N-O All League honors last season while Kern and Snyder were both second team honorees and Pearl and McOmber Honorable Mention selections.

“We have a very good core group returning,” said Coach Eliza Feocco.

Roy-Hart’s graduation losses included N-O first team honoree Lila Brigham and Honorable Mention selections Ellia Martillotta and Emily Livergood.

Roy-Hart claimed the N-O crown last fall with a 9-1 record.
