Clarendon voters have more than one choice for town supervisor

My name is Kathy Harnischfeger. I am running for Clarendon Town Supervisor as a write-in candidate. I am a moderate Democrat who believes in the 2nd amendment. While this may deter some of our residents, what is important to know is that the position of Town Supervisor holds no more power than the Town Board members.
I decided to run as a write-in candidate after the primary election results because I felt that our community needed another choice. The Town of Clarendon has faced some serious issues the last 9 months which has unfortunately divided our community in a big way.
I want to help the community heal and move forward by serving every Clarendon resident. I have been to too many board meetings to count over the years. I have worked with our Town Board to try to improve Clarendon’s standard of living, so every resident can live happily in peace and harmony with their neighbor.
I have studied the town law book and continue to do so. I believe the leader of a community should hold honor, integrity and most importantly, have the taxpayers’ best interests at heart.
This is an important position. This shouldn’t be a personal race. This shouldn’t be a popularity contest. This should be about who is the best person to lead the town, and who can best represent every resident in the community, regardless of who they support.
Ultimately, my goal is to bring everyone together and move forward in a positive direction. This is not a partisan race for me, I simply want to serve the community I have called home for 20 years.
I have asked the other candidate to join me on October 16 starting at 6 p.m., at the Clarendon Town Hall for a Community Q&A session. This will be the opportunity to get to know me as a person, what I stand for, and what my goals are for the community of Clarendon.
Enough is enough! It is time we move Clarendon forward together as a community by creating a more unified environment for all that call Clarendon their home. I am so excited to meet everyone!

Barker tops Wilson in N-O field hockey
Barker improved to 4-0 in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey competition with a 4-0 win over Wilson this afternoon.
Autumn Lewis, Sophia Pavlock, Lexi Brazzel and Xyon Weese each scored a goal. Pavlock also had a pair of assists.
Wilson is now 1-3
Two quick goals spark Wilson past Medina
A quick two goal scoring burst midway through the second half keyed defending champion Wilson to a 3-0 win over visiting Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League soccer game this morning.
Cole Herrmann and Hayden Fellows both had a goal and an assist and Gage Gailie a goal for Wilson which improves to 4-0 in N-O action.
The loss drops Medina to 1-2.
In the other N-O contest, Newfane (2-2) edged Roy-Hart (0-2) 2-1.
Michael Fuller scored the Roy-Hart goal.

Roy-Hart/Medina blanked Newfane 5-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game at Vets Park this afternoon.
Roy-Hart/Medina built up a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals by Lilly Maynard, Alexis Bedford and Maria Trombley.
Trombley and Peyton Johengen also scored in the second half.
Roy-Hart/Medina is now 2-2 and Newfane 0-4 in N-O action.
Akron 3, Barker/Lyndonville 0
Akron (2-1) blanked Barker/Lyndonville (2-2) 3-0 in the other N-O game as Reese Adessa had 2 goals and Clara Bogdan 1.

Capacity crowd sees acclaimed guitarist at Hoag Library

ALBION – It was a full capacity crowd for this afternoon’s concert at Hoag Library featuring internationally acclaimed guitarist Muriel Anderson.
About 100 people filled the meeting rooms of the library for the concert, which included a special guest, renowned guitarist Kinloch Nelson.
The free concert was made possible through a state grant administered by GO Art!
Anderson is an award-winning guitarist, harp guitarist, composer, and performer known for her innovative musicianship and engaging live performances. She has performed around the world and is recognized for her ability to blend a variety of musical styles.
Marti’s celebrates new art show at gallery in Albion
First art auction for non-profit set for Sept. 26

Muscarella has been leading art shows in Albion for nearly 20 years, including the past five years at 20 South Main St., a historic building in Albion that previously was home to the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orleans County.
ALBION – Marti’s on Main welcomed an energetic crowd on Friday evening to the art gallery at 20 South Main St. The show features works by Jill Gussow, Jennifer Hecker and Rosanne Muscari.
This is the sixth of eight monthly art shows at the gallery. There is an opening reception on the third Fridays each month.
Gussow and Hecker were both art professors for Kim Martillotta Muscarella, the director of Marti’s on main, when she was a student at SUNY Brockport. Mascari and Muscarella connected through the Brockport Artists’ Guild.
Jill Gussow shows one of her paintings which include a fabric collage. This one shows a bird in mourning. Gussow has 18 art pieces in the show.
She is now retired as an art professor from SUNY Brockport and the University of Rochester. She taught photo and design classes to Muscarella when she was a student at Brockport.
Gussow appreciates the variety of art displayed at the Marti’s gallery.
“Usually art galleries are sterile, but this is anything but that,” Gussow said. “Kim’s network of artists has really grown.”
Jennifer Hecker is shown with one of her flame-warped glass sculptures. Her works have water themes. She is beginning her 38th year as a professor at Brockport.
She welcomed the chance to show 12 of her works at Marti’s.
“This gallery definitely has Kim’s flair,” Hecker said. “The energy is just great.”
Rosanne Mascari of Brockport has 18 pieces in the show at Marti’s. Mascari paints abstracts in acrylic.
She has been featured before at Marti’s. She thanked Muscarella for the outlet for artists to display their work.
“This gallery is great because Kim is so great,” Mascari said. “She breathes life into her fellow artists.”
People check out the artwork in this month’s show at the Marti’s gallery.
The art auction on Sept. 26 will have a preview starting at 5:30 p.m. with the auction beginning at 6:30.
The auction features pieces donated by 35 artists. Todd Jantzi of Bontrager Real Estate & Auction Service will be the auctioneer.
The proceeds will help with the operational costs of the gallery as well as programming. Marti’s is now a non-profit organization. For more information on the auction, click here.
Albion golfers score win over Wilson
Albion downed Wilson 251-277 in a Niagara-Orleans League golf match today.
Drew Pritchard shot a 46 and Owen Spencer a 48 to lead Albion.
Wilson’s Ben Meyers took medalist honors with a 39.
In another N-O match Akron edged Barker 261-266.
Barker’s Hudson Prynn earned medalist honors with a 45.
Roy-Hart spikers post win over Medina
Roy-Hart downed host Medina in four sets 25-19, 25-11, 23-25, 25-22 in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match this evening.
Lauren Sndyer had 13 kills and 8 aces, Samilynn Denniston 7 kills and 3 aces, Alyse Dress 9 aces and Lily Pabon 6 aces for Roy-Hart.
Samantha Heschke had 6 aces and 4 kills, Caliyah St. Louis 3 kills and 3 aces. Teagan Balaban 3 aces and Jenna Cecchini 2 aces for Medina.
Kendall girls romp to G-R soccer victory
Improving to 5-0, Kendall romped to a 10-0 victory over Pembroke in a Genesee Region League girls soccer game this evening.
Ryleigh Denning scored 3 goals as Jersie Drake, MacKenzie Cooper and Charlie Fox each netted 2 and Kaylie Bunn 1. Sophia Picardo also had 3 assists.
In another G-R contest, Wheatland-Chili nipped Holley 1-0.
Barker/Roy-Hart rolls past Eden/NC
Building up a huge 42-7 half-time lead, defending champion Barker/Roy-Hart went on to defeat Eden/North Collins 48-29 in a C North Division game this evening at Eden.
Carter DerSarkissian had three touchdown runs for Barker/Roy-Hart on carries of 44, 9 and 9 yards.
Bulls quarterback Max Townsend threw a pair of touchdown passes covering 25 yards to Ashton Ark and 45 yards to Matt Aquilina.
Barker/Roy-Hart also got touchdown runs of 45 yards by Jeff Waters and 14 yards by Owen Maedl.
Improving to 2-0 in the division and 2-1 overall, Barker/Roy-Hart next hosts Springvlle next Friday evening at 7.
Holley/Lyndonville game cancelled
Tonight’s scheduled Holley/Lyndonville at Notre Dame/Byron-Bergen game was cancelled as Holley/Lyndonville did not have enough players.
