KENDALL – They voted, and then they ate. In Kendall, a popular Election Day tradition includes a bountiful plate of spaghetti and meatballs at the fire hall after voting next door at the town hall.
The top photo shows Eric Maxon stirring the spaghetti in a big pot of boiling water. Maxon and the Kendall Lions Club expected to serve at least 100 meals this evening. Maxon also is on the ballot for Kendall highway superintendent. He is unopposed.
Leanne Richards, left, and Crystal Botello serve spaghetti in the Kendall fire hall. The Lions Club has been offering the dinners on Election Day at least the past 20 years. Covid curtailed the crowds for the dinner beginning in 2020, but the Lions Club said people still enjoy the meals on Election Day. They can get take-outs or dine in the fire hall.
Carol Evans served iced tea, lemonade and other beverages.
Phyllis Winters prepared the bowls of salad for the meal.
The West Barre Church also served turkey dinners today in its annual Election Day tradition.
