Orleans Hub set a new record for monthly traffic in January with 853,765 pageviews, which broke the previous record of 788,862 in August 2017. The January traffic topped the previous record by 8.2 percent.

There were a lot of big news stories last month, and we had several feature articles that were popular with Hub readers.

The top two stories for “hits” included coverage of a fire in Albion were two people were seriously injured (click here), and a story about a Medina husband and wife who lost more than 300 pounds last year through exercise, better nutrition and sleep (click here).

Photo by Cheryl Wertman: An article about John Grillo, a legendary wrestling coach at Holley, was the most popular sports story in January. Grillo is retiring after 44 years as a coach.

The bad weather that closed schools and churches in January also tends to spike traffic for the Orleans Hub. We upgraded the bandwidth for our server so we could accommodate more readers last month. We were often maxing out the capacity.

We measure traffic through pageviews and averaged 27,541 in January. We also are interested in the average daily users each month. In 2018, we averaged 7,463 unique visitors each day.

In January, we had a daily average of 8,882 unique visitors, which is the second most since we started the online news site nearly six years ago. August 2017 holds the record with a daily average of 9,185 for the entire month.

We want to thank the readers for checking the site so often, and the advertisers for their support. Several Hub readers also contributed to a recent fund drive. Thank you again for your support.
