Linda Lee (Geiss) McGlen

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Jim; sons and daughters-in-law: Tim (Vesna) of Brockport, Chris (Colleen); granddaughter, Tess formerly of Hilton and now of Buford, SC; sisters-in law: Laurie (Mike) Burley of NC, Cindy (Dave) Merzke of Long Island; nieces: Jamie (Rich) Turner, Carrie (Shawn) Russell of NC, Jessica Merzke; as well as dear cousins, a great-niece, great-nephews and dear friends.
Linda has donated her body to the UR Medical School.

Charles R. Harrell

Mr. Harrell was born August 18, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Andrew and Annie Laura Harrell. He decided to then dedicate himself to the United States Navy, where he was honorably discharged in June of 1954.
On July 4th, 1963, Charles married the love of his life, Elizabeth Chalmers and dedicated the rest of his time to his beautiful family and as a dedicated employee of Delco Products, where he eventually retired from. In his spare time, he loved to spend time with his family, hunt and always be the one to make you laugh on a hard day.
Preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Chalmers and late parents, Mr. Harrell is survived by his siblings, John, J.L and Jean Harrell; children, Pam Williams, Robin Guthrie, Debbie Hafner, Susan Harrell, Wayne and Warren Allen; grandchildren, Charles (Marci Reynolds) King, Joshua (Ali Becking) King, Ashley (Stephanie) Desmore and Brittney King; plus 12 great-grandchildren who he loved dearly.
Mr. Harrell will be laid to rest with full military honors on a date that will privately be shared with family and friends.

Gary A. James

Born on December 31, 1955 in Medina, he was the son of the late Arthur James and Marjorie Hurt .
In 1974, Gary graduated from Medina High School and on August 9, 2003 he married the former Brenda Lewis and together they made their home in Medina.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; four children, Jeremy, Elonna, Leo and Kyla; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; seven siblings, Danny, Carol, Steve, Scott, Wayne, Randy, and David James. Also surviving are many other extended family, nieces, and nephews and his cat, Charlie.
Relatives and friends may attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church, 522 S. Main St. Medina, NY 14103. Burial will be private for the family.

Ruth E. Luckman
MEDINA – Ruth E. Luckman, 81, of Medina, NY, passed away at her home with her daughter at her side. Born on October 4, 1940 in Shelby, NY, she was the daughter of the late Kasmer and Stephania (Mazur) Wisniewski.
Ruth graduated from Medina High School in 1960. She married the late Robert Luckman on March 3, 1962 and together they raised four children. Ruth worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Medina Memorial Hospital for 25 years. She enjoyed bird watching, watching wildlife and tending to her flower beds.
Ruth is survived by her children, Robert (MaryEllen) Luckman, Penny Jean Luckman, James Luckman and William (Gail) Luckman. Also surviving is a grandson, Tyler (Crystal) Luckman and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Ruth is predeceased by her siblings and loving companion, Donald McCombs.
There are no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the West Ridgeway Cemetery.

Gloria Lynch

Gloria was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a long-time member of the Albion congregation, and she loved teaching people about the Bible. She was an avid reader and loved gardening and humming birds.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Lynch; and her sisters, Albertha Singleton and Shirley Middleton.
She is survived by her children, Ermine Canty, Lyle (Deborah) Lynch and Lorna Lynch; grandchildren, Cameron Bracken, Jevona Gilmore, Tarrence Canty, Toland Canty and Chrisjon Canty; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Abraham (Rose) Middleton, William (the late Carol) Middleton and Michael Middleton; sisters-in-law, Ruby (the late Joseph Jr.) Middleton, and Martha (the late Kenneth Sr.) Middleton as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thomas D. Calandra

Tom is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Sara Calandra. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Angela Shortino-Calandra; daughters: Kristin Calandra, Dana (Richard) Root; step-daughter, Deborah Banser; step-son William (Elise) Banser; granddaughters: Rene Root, Mia Root, Emily Shaffer and Olivia Banser; sister, Gabrielle Barone; brother-in-law, Frank Shortino; a nephew, nieces, and cousins.
Tom is a 1955 graduate of Medina High School. After graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Sept. 31, 1955 where he served through March 3, 1959. Following his military service, he attended SUNY Cobleskill and later Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and his Juris Doctor in 1966.
Tom was admitted to the New York Bar in December of 1966 and started his general law practice in Albion. In 1968 he was appointed as the first public defender in Orleans County. Throughout his career, Tom handled many high-profile cases throughout the Finger Lakes and Western New York region. The cases themselves and surrounding circumstances, at times, were the subject of polarizing public interest. Tom is well known as a stalwart competitor in the courtroom. He will be remembered by many young lawyers he mentored for the help and advice he gave and for sharing his vast knowledge. He was elected to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
After retiring in 2015, Tom enjoyed his annual Las Vegas trips to his Navy friends’ boxing gym to watch upcoming new boxers spar. He also enjoyed spending winters in Florida visiting with family and friends and watching his favorite sports teams.

Lewis E. Hyde

Arlene M. Bokman

Arlene was born on June 1, 1937, in Albion, NY to Samuel and Josephine (Abbondonza) Giarrizzo. On May 9, 1956, Arlene married her high school sweetheart, Clement (Butch) Bokman. Arlene and Butch were married for 64 years, until his passing in 2020.
Arlene was a member of the 1955 graduating class of Albion Central School. She was most proud of being a loving wife and mother. After raising her five children, Arlene proceeded to assist her husband in the daily functions of their automobile agency in Lockport, NY.
Upon retirement, the couple was able to pursue one of their true joys of operating Bokman Kennel’s while breeding and raising Golden Retrievers. Arlene always looked forward to receiving Christmas cards from the families that had adopted puppies from their kennel. She proudly displayed all the pictures that the adopted families sent her. She was a true lover of animals.
Arlene lived for many years in Lockport, NY. In 2017, she moved to Allegany, NY to be closer to her family.
Arlene is survived by her sons: Rick (Kathy) Bokman, Scott (Patti) Bokman and Mark (Susan) Bokman; brother, Charles (Bev) Giarrizzo; grandchildren: Mike (Brittney) Bokman, Christa (Dan) Hunt, Nicki (Ryan) Williams, Ryan Bokman and Mathew Bokman; great-grandchildren: Maxim Bokman, Eli Hunt and Emma Hunt; many beloved nieces and nephews and friends.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Clement (Butch) Bokman; daughters: Julie Bokman and Dr. Susan Bokman Leitzan; siblings: Sandra Ohs, Virginia DeFillips and Joseph Giarrizzo.

Shawnie M. Gauthier
Shawnie M. Gauthier, 17, of Medina passed away March 13, 2022. She was born May 4, 2004 in Medina to Taunya and Terry Gauthier.
Shawnie loved listening to country music, spending time with her grandmother and family.
Shawnie was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Walter and April Gauthier. Shawnie is survived by her parents, Taunya and Terry Gauthier; siblings: Terry (Devy), James; maternal grandparents, Kim and Elton Capstick; great-grandparents; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shelly A. Stillinger

Shelly graduated from Lyndonville High School in 1984 and was a devoted mother to her two daughters. At one time she drove school bus and was currently working for H.H. Dobbins of Lyndonville. She enjoyed arts and crafts, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Shelly is survived by her daughters: Samantha and Keri Stillinger, both of Lyndonville; grandchildren: Devon and Hayden Babcock, Skylar Duffield and Carter Brady; siblings: Kelly (Matt) Burris of Spencerport, NY, Michelle (Dan) Groves of Clarence, NY, Terri Bane, Bobbi Bane, and Meribeth Bane, all of Lyndonville, NY and Jamie Battles of Florida; many nieces and nephews; and her former husband, Jon Stillinger of Hilton, NY.
Shelly was a loving, selfless person, always putting other people’s needs before her own.

Barbara Ann (Gersitz) Lutz

Barb is predeceased by her parents; 2nd mother, Eleanor Gersitz; and sisters: Patricia Casey and Margie Babbage.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Edmund Joseph Lutz III. Also left to cherish her memory are her brother, Joseph Gersitz (Marion); sisters: Mary Patterson (Richard), Sally Treanor; daughters: Mary Edwards (Timothy), Clare Simon, Paula Simon (James); and son, Edmund (Kim). Barb loved and prayed for her 25 grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer, Rachel, Richard, Jon, George, Andy, Leiana, Salem, Louis, James, Raphael, Genevieve, Mark, Lily, Christopher, Patrick, Gabriel, Veronica, Elijah, Regina, Sharbel, John Paul, Emily, Joshua and Matthew, and 25 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barb’s many accomplishments include being a loving and devoted wife and mother, working as a registered nurse over 40 years, singing in her church choir over 20 years, ushering at Shea’s Theater, being a fabulous seamstress, participating in the Christian Family Movement, being a league bowler, a Camp Fire Girl leader, and a volunteer for pro-life organizations. Barb was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Buffalo, for over 40 years and of St. Joseph Church, Lyndonville, for the past 15 years. She enjoyed family time, singing, gardening and praying her daily Rosary.
Barb’s Funeral Mass will be on Tue., March 22, 2022, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, St. Joseph Church, 38 Lake Ave., Lyndonville, NY 14098, with the prayer of the Holy Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m.

David DiLaura
David DiLaura, 69, of Albion passed away March 14, 2022 at the Martin Linsin Hospice Residence. He was born Nov. 21, 1952 in Albion to the late Ellis and Catherine (Aina) DiLaura.
David was a proud recipient of the 20-year Longevity of Participation in Arc award. He loved listening to music and going for boat rides. David was very fond of the Italian cookies his mother would make and bring to the residents of the home that he lived at for many years. Living on King St., his roommates and caregivers were like family to David and his family. They provided such great care and support to David over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Suzanne Wells. David is survived by his sister, Mary (Tom Schleicher) Bullock; brother-in-law, Robert Wells; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, East Ave in Albion on Thu., March 17 at 11 a.m.

Richard D. Jewsbury

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Kludt Brothers Farm having worked there for over 30 years. Most recently, he worked part-time at the Kendall Highway Department and was a member of the Kendall Fire Department in past years. Richard enjoyed sports, his tractor, working and all his friendships.
Family will receive friends on Monday March 21st from 2-4 pm at the Fowler Funeral Home Inc., 340 West Ave., Brockport followed by a funeral service at 4 pm. William A. Caldwell

Born March 18, 1928 at the family homestead in East Shelby, Mr. Caldwell was the son of the late Victor and Hazel (Buisch) Caldwell. He married the former Gladys J. Dunn at the Knowlesville United Methodist Church on Aug. 13, 1948. They settled and raised a family of five children on their dairy farm in West Barre.
Mr. Caldwell worked for Harrison Radiator in Lockport for over 36 years. He was a longtime active member of the West Barre United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. Mr. Caldwell enjoyed hunting and splitting firewood. He and his wife, Gladys also enjoyed visiting and checking in on shut-ins. He had a great sense of humor and loved his sweets, especially homemade ice cream.
Mr. Caldwell was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Caldwell on May 29, 2010; and brothers: Leon Caldwell and Victor Caldwell.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Barbara Watterson, Roger Caldwell, Sr., Donna (Larry) Hill, Norman (Naomi) Caldwell and Sherry (Eugene “Butch” Jr.) Baker; many grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Donald Caldwell, Floyd Caldwell and Edward (Lola) Caldwell; sister in-law, Connie Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Darrell M. Green

Mr. Green was born on March 6, 1941 in Batavia, NY one of three sons of the late Frederick W. and Marjorie V. (VanCleef) Green. He graduated from Oakfield-Alabama High School in the class of 1959. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Blenny from 1959-1963. On April 30, 1960 he married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Millie Baker. Mr. Green was employed for over 30 years at National Fuel Gas in Batavia and retired in 1996. He also worked for many years alongside his wife picking seasonal crops for her uncle. He was an active member for over 50 years of the East Shelby Volunteer Fire Co., where he held several officer positions over the years. He was a parishioner of the West Barre United Methodist Church. Mr. Green was a member of the Hiram G. Luhman Post #626, American Legion in Alabama Center and was also a mason belonging to Towpath Lodge #1193, F&AM. He and his wife, Millie, were avid campers and enjoyed many years wintering in Florida.
Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Millie Green on Nov. 21, 2018; and brothers: Harold Green and Kenneth Green.
Survivors include his children: Susan (Lynn Tomasino) Green of Medina and Michael (Leslie) Green of Plattsburgh; grandchildren: Curtis Foss, Cassidy Oliver and Trent Green; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Green and Linda Green; several nieces and nephews; and his feline companion, Sam who will miss him dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Wed., March 16 from 4-7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His funeral service with military honors will be held on Thu., March 17 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery.

John N. “Gramps” Bartel

John worked as a plumber at Albion Correctional Facility retiring after 25 years. He loved going to his cabin in Olean, watching the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres; but most of all he loved being with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He attended all of their sporting events and took them to Darien Lake often. John always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone.
In addition to his dad, he was predeceased by his brother, David Bartel.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 47 years, Debbie; daughter, Stacey (Jake) Olles; son Neil (Rachel) Bartel; grandchildren: Carly, Mia, Maggie, Jackson; mom, Shirley Bartel; brother, Paul Bartel; sister-in-law, Cheri (Massih) Gray; brother-in-law, Roger (Pat) Boehnke; best friend, Kenny Dlugosz; as well as nieces and cousins.

Larry W. Scharlau
Larry W. Scharlau, 75, of Medina, passed away unexpectedly while on a holiday vacation in Mexico with his wife and family on Dec. 27, 2021.
Born on Feb. 15, 1946 in Medina, Larry was a son of the late Wilbur and Lucille (Clark) Scharlau. He married the former Bonnie Conroy on May 26, 1979. He worked for many years for the Town of Ridgeway Highway Department. Larry was an avid hunter and enjoyed four-wheeling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his in-laws, Howard and Sylvia Conroy.
Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Bonnie Scharlau; sons: Michael and Bobby; daughter, Kay (Garrison); grandchildren: Garrett, Connor, Blake and Genevieve; siblings: Jimmy, Donna, Cindy and Chris; several nieces and nephews; and best friend, Mark Prawel.
Service Announcement: An hour of calling will be held on Sat., March 26 from 12-1 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Charles E. Parker, Sr.

Born on November 7, 1939 in the Town of Gaines, Mr. Parker was a son of the late George and Dorothy (Lafferty) Parker, Jr. He graduated from Albion High School in the class of 1958. He married the former Carol A. Howes on June 3, 1962. Mr. Parker worked in construction in his early life and went on to have a career at Eastman Kodak in Rochester for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing puzzles.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Parker.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Carol A. Parker; four sons, Charles (Dawn) Parker, Jr., Mark Parker, Gregg (Samantha) Parker and Corey (Christina) Parker; five grandchildren, Joshua Parker, Brittany Parker, Mitchell Parker, Corey Parker and Aiden Parker; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Parker.

MEDINA – Gwendolyn M. Way, 78, of Medina, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the Martin-Linsin Residence in Albion.
Born August 5, 1943 in Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania, Gwen was the daughter of the late Edward and Sarah (DePoy) Bigley.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. Gwen was also a member of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her beloved husband, James H. Way of Medina.

Kirk W. Hodgins
Kirk W. Hodgins, 64, of Medina, NY, after a long battle with Kidney Disease, took his last breath on Wed., March 9, 2022 at Buffalo General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Oct. 17, 1957 in Medina, NY, he was the son of William Hodgins and the late Irene (Theil) Hodgins.
Heaven has one of the best angels, ours. Ride that Harley in the streets of heaven and you’ll always be in our hearts.
Kirk enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and crafting walking sticks.
Besides his father, Kirk is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan Hodgins; children: Mike (Tina) Nellist, Brandy Hodgins, Jeb (Natile) Hodgins, Brandi (Kevin) Monell, Tiffany (Mike) Grimaldi, Hannon (Nicole) Withey, and Stacey (Andy) Mank; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; siblings: Bryan Hodgins and Bonnie Dolan; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother Irene, Kirk is predeceased by his parent-in-laws, William and Joanne Just and granddaughter, Penelope Mank.
Relatives and friends may call on Sat., March 19, 2022 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Community Fellowship Church, 3144 Johnson Creek Rd., Middleport, NY 14105, where a memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. with the Pastor Joe Szalay officiating. Burial will be private for the family.
Memorials may be made in Kirk’s name to the Village of Medina Fire Department Ambulance, 119 Park Ave., Medina, NY 14103; or to the Family.
