MEDINA – Loretta J. Koneski, 91, of Medina entered into rest peacefully at home on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Born May 1, 1931 in Medina, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Agnes (Cotriss) Balcerzak.

She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church. Mrs. Koneski worked for many years at G.C. Murphy Co. in Medina, retiring in 1994.

Mrs. Koneski is survived by two daughters, including Patricia (Mark) Eaton of Medina; siblings, Francis (late Ann) Balcerzak and Michael (Carolyn) Balcerzak; sister in-law, Patricia Balcerzak; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leo Koneski; siblings, Donald (Nedra), Anthony Jr., Joseph (Dorothy), Mary (William) Knights, Eleanor (Robert) Rignall, Kate (William) Gunn, Leonard (Kathryn) Balcerzak and Helen (Thomas) Morien.

An hour of calling will be held on Wednesday, May 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina.

HOLLEY – Kathleen C. Nadelen, born July 8, 1942, passed away unexpectedly (not Covid-related) on May 11, 2022, with her children at her side.

Kathy was born in Rochester, New York to Michael A. Scarpulla and Constance M. (Tomasino) Scarpulla.

Kathy is survived by two children: Julie (Nate Johnson) and Ted (KrisAnne) Nadelen Ill and her companion of 16 years, John (Jack) Wood; grandchildren, Megan Pearl, Nick Acquilano, Olivia Nadelen and Teddy Nadelen IV; great-grandchildren, Landin, Corbin, Rhettlyn and Gemma.

Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Ted Nadelen Jr; daughter, Jill Nadelen; sister, Jean Scarpulla; and brother, Charles Scarpulla.

Kathy attended the Rochester Business Institute where she became certified in secretarial services and was then employed by Eastman Kodak Company. There she met her husband, Theodore R. Nadelen Jr. in 1962, and were married on October 12, 1963. Kathy later worked for nearly 20 years as a secretary for the First Presbyterian Church in Holley. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albion for 30 years and served as an elder. Kathy lived a life of serving others. She had an unspoken compassion and touched many lives. Kathy was a friend to all, with a heart larger than life. She was the hub of our family, and a true inspiration to all of us. She always found the silver lining in the cloud. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, friend and mentor. She was a living example to us all and her legacy will endure forever.

Kathy loved music and the arts, crocheting, crafts, cooking, gardening, reading and camping. She especially loved spending time with her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed dearly.

There will be no prior calling hours. Kathy’s funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Albion, 29 E. State Albion, on Thursday, June 9, at 11 a.m. Please follow Covid guidelines. If feeling sick or recently had a known exposure, please do not attend. Masks are optional per individual preference. Private interment will be in Western New York National Cemetery.

Patricia A (Schleider) Keding passed away at home surrounded by family on Fri., Feb. 25, 2022. Pat as she was known to her friends, was born Jan. 28, 1936 in Johnson City, NY to the late Anna (Barna) & Jacob Schleider. Pat relocated to the Buffalo area in her late teens where she worked as a waitress in a diner and met the love of her life John; they were married in 1957. She worked for the telephone company as an operator until they relocated to Albion where she then worked at Loblaws grocery store.

Pat’s greatest accomplishments were her family, her home and her gardens. She loved to celebrate in a BIG way, making Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries & Christmases special and memorable. She loved to bake, cook and feed others – catering many bridal & baby showers, church coffee hours and cooking for the Albion Lions Club for many years.

Her passions extended beyond the kitchen; painting, sewing, crafting & gardening brought her great joy. Her gardens were extraordinary and occupied the majority of her yard, she knew every plant by name and where it would thrive. The home on Caroline Street (62 years) was her pride and joy and she was often referred to as “Mrs. Clean” & “She Who Must Be Obeyed” keeping John busy with a never-ending Honey-Do list.

Those that knew her, know how much she loved color, long rides, picnics, chicken barbeques, shopping, long walks, spending time with family and giving and getting hugs.

She was courageous, strong willed, kind and compassionate and always greeted you with open arms. She will be missed in ways that cannot be imagined.

Pat is survived by her children: Karen (David) Watts (NC), Jim (Laureen) Keding (FL), Chris (Michael) Buongiorne; grandchildren, Jacob (Jessica) Marks; Katie (Gary) Pahura, Sara & Emma Keding (FL), Elijah Buongiorne; great-grandchildren Owen Marks & Noah Keding; sister, Margaret Grose, brother-in-law, Fred (Sharon) Keding (AK); and several nieces & nephews.

Interment will be Fri., June 3 at 1:30pm in Mt Albion Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to join us.

Immediately following with no particular ending time, we are opening up our home at 111 Chamberlain St. for a celebration of her life. A life, so beautiful, deserves a special celebration and You are invited to help us celebrate her. FANCHER – Betty E. Valentine, 95, passed away May 19, 2022 with her family at her side. She was born March 3, 1927 in Ridgeway to the late Earl and Minnie (Schultz) Prest.

Betty worked at GE in Brockport for many years before she retired in 1986. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Holley and the Albion Senior Citizens. Elmer and Betty spent many years wintering in Florida, something they enjoyed very much. Betty like to spend her spare time reading, but most of all time with her family was her favorite.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Elmer in 2006, grandson, Evan Valentine in 2021, several brothers, sisters and in-laws.

Betty is survived by her children, Connie (Darryl) Dunlap, Neil (Diane) Valentine, Bonnie (James) West, grandchildren, Timothy (Crystal) and Christopher (Megan) West; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Adrionna, Alexis, and Emma; sister, Irene Rouse as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorinne M. Prest, 85 of Medina, NY, passed away on Mon., May 16, 2022 at the Supportive Care of Orleans, Albion, NY.

Born on Nov. 27, 1936 in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the late Redvers and Leona (Falls) Luxon.

Dorinne grew up in Medina and married the late Kenneth Prest on March 25, 1967 and together they raised five children. At one time she worked for the former Acme and retired in 2011. In her spare time she liked to crochet and work in her flower garden and walking her puppy “Jack.”

She is survived by her children: Raymond (Kim) Cogovan of Medina, Judy (Michael) Szulis of Medina, Pamela (Jerry) Gray of Clarence Center, David (Tiffany) Cogovan of Pittsburgh, PA, Shawn (Michaelene) Prest of Medina; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother, Donald (Crystal) Luxon of Basom; sister-in-law, Beverly (Francis) Woodward of Medina; and nieces and nephews.

As per Dorinne’s wishes, there are no calling hours and a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Richard E. “Bing” Harney, 84, of Lyndonville, NY, passed away peacefully at the Buffalo VA Hospital on Fri., May 13, 2022.

Born on Dec. 12, 1937 in Pepperell, Mass., he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Austin) Harney. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his siblings: Mary Alden, Francis W. Harney, Jr., John A. Harney, Charles A. Harney, Peter H. Harney, Robert Harney and Michael P. Harney.

“Bing,” as he was known as by his friends, was an avid golfer and loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He also loved watching college softball and football games, even if they were from a couple of years ago. He especially liked going to Batavia Downs “when the stars were aligned with the moon.” Bing served in the U.S. Army and was employed by the Lyndonville Central School District as a dedicated custodian from 1979-1999.

Richard is survived by his sisters: Pamela (Bill) Bassett of Greensboro, GA, Sheila (Eric) Linscott of Newark, DE; and brother, James (Suzanne) Harney of Fredericksburg, VA. Bing spent the last few months making special memories with his dear friends, James and Valerie Wells. A day didn’t go by where Bing had a special story to tell or a quick witted saying to laugh about. He loved to share his ice cream with the Well’s black Labrador retriever known to Bing as “Blackie.”

Kenneth Cox Lillibridge, 91, of Kent, NY, passed away Sun., May 15, 2022, at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, Clinton Twp., MI.

Ken was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Kendall, NY to Royal and Marie (Cox) Lillibridge. He graduated from Kendall High School, worked as a farmer, then with Kodak Film Company in Rochester, NY and owned a country store with his wife, Carol. For years, Kenny raised thousands of dollars for Breast Cancer Awareness. He served his community as volunteer fire dept, school board, petitions for water line, and was always there to help his neighbors, family, and friends across the country. Such a wonderful man!

He is survived by his only son, Kraig Courtney (Sherry); grandchildren: Michael (Emily) and Kaitlin; and great-grandchildren: Logan and Riley.

Ken is preceded in death by his wife, Carol, whom passed 3/2/2019, and sister Elizabeth Carey.

Ken chose to have his body donated for medical education and research, as Carol had. Due to the lengthy time in receiving remains, there will be a future cemetery memorial service for both in NY.

Sheila Flint of Barker, NY wife of the late Harrison Flint entered into rest on Sat., May 14, 2022 in Niagara Hospice. She was born in Jamestown, NY on Sept. 18, 1935, daughter of the late Ernest and Beatrice Stoner Moore.

Mother of Mike (Cindy) Flint, Howard Flint (Molly) and James (Cathy) Flint. Grandmother of Amber (Dale) Cleaveland, Melissa Flint and David Vaughn, Timothy (Cassie) Flint, Kiera (Markus) Campbell, Kyle (Jessica) Flint and Harrison (Paulette) Flint. Great-grandmother of 5.  Sister of the late Patricia Moore Vogt. Sister in law of Franklin Flint. Aunt of Pam (Don) Coates and Kathy (Herb) Downs.

Colin “Coke” Trow, 78, of Medina, passed away on Sun., May 15, 2022 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Colin was a son of the late Charles Trow and Ruth (Heidemann) Trow. He was born on Jan. 26, 1944 in Medina. He graduated from Medina High School in 1962. Shortly after graduation he went to work at Eastman Kodak in Rochester. Colin retired as shift supervisor in 1991 and then went on to drive school bus for Medina Central School District for several years, a job he enjoyed very much. Coke married the former Sue A. March on Sept. 28, 1974. He was an active parishioner at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina. There, he sang in the choir and was a member of the church council. Coke enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing and watching sports. He was a fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Syracuse Orangeman. Coke especially enjoyed music and loved singing in the choir and at special occasions for family and friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Sue Trow; daughter, Christine Trow; brothers-in-law: Bruce (Kate) March, Douglas March; sister-in-law, Cherie (Dennis) Conley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by siblings, Connie (Norman) Bruning, Carol Trow and Clint Trow; inlaws, David and Doris March; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann March.

David L. Spanton, 69, of Albion passed away May 15, 2022 following a long illness.  He was born Nov. 14, 1952 in Albion, NY a son of the late William and Carol (Salisbury) Spanton. David was a 1970 graduate of Albion High School.  He was a member of the Rochester Offshore Powerboat Association and was a 30+ year employee of St. Gobain.  David was very outgoing and enjoyed fixing your small engine.  He enjoyed boating, antique cars, mud truck racing but most of all loved spending time with his family, especially his wife Dawn.

He is survived by his loving wife Dawn (Bouchard) Spanton; step-children: Benjamin and Emma Bouchard; siblings: Ronald (Deborah) Spanton, Karl Spanton, James Spanton, Daniel Spanton and Elaine (Jonathan) Perkins; aunts and several nieces, nephews, cousins.

Maxine Kay Wahl, 84, of Kendall passed away peacefully on May 16, 2022. She was born March 15, 1938 to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Whitehouse) Hall.

Maxine was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kendall and worked for many years as a Pharmacist Assistant in Brockport. She enjoyed watching television and her favorite show was “Blue Bloods.” Maxine was a great baker, known for her pies and sugar cookies. She loved the color red and birds of all kinds, especially Cardinals.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Gerald on Sept. 14, 2019; siblings: Audrey Pfund, Roger Hall; and great-grandson, Samuel Tomasino.

Maxine is survived by her daughters: Melodee Wahl of LeRoy, NY, Sherry (Ronald) Tomasino of Kendall, NY and Stephanie (Robert) Rudman of West Allis, WI; grandchildren, Jacob (Cheryl) Tucker of Tucson, AZ, Thomas Tomasino of FL, Joseph (Heather) Tomasino of Kendall, NY, Katherine (Stephen) Christner of Batavia, NY, Stephen (Erin) Rudman of Columbia, MD, Shawn (Emily) Wahl of Glen Burnie, MD; 8 great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and three nephews.

Bobby C. Dellinger Sr., 86, of Medina, NY, passed away peacefully on Sun., May 15, 2022 with his loving family at his side at Supportive Care of Orleans, Albion, NY.

Born on Dec. 13, 1935, in Clinchco, Va., he was the son of the late Vern and Willie Mae (Wright) Dellinger. He attended school and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and proudly served for 20 years as a Tech Sergeant, having traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, Japan and Taiwan. In 1974, he returned home, working as a store clerk at the Agway in Knowlesville. Bobby retired in 1991.  He enjoyed painting, going to garage sales, eating Chinese food and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three children: Bobby C. (Lois) Dellinger, Jr., Fred E. (Rosie) Dellinger, Melissa A. (Phil) Schening, all of Medina; 9 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren; siblings: Donald Dellinger of Medina, Ohio and Norma Hartman of Bellevue, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bobby is predeceased by his former wife, Mary Lou Dellinger and a special friend, Mary Ann Curtin.

LYNDONVILLE – Jane M. Barry, of Lyndonville, passed away on May 13, 2022 at Medina Memorial Hospital. Born October 9, 1942 in Medina, Jane was a daughter of the late Norman B. and Helen M. (Robinson) Hungerford.

She married the love of her life, Bernard N. Barry in 1960 and together raised a family of three children. Primarily a homemaker, Jane also did seasonal work for the Lyndonville Canning Factory. She was a lifelong and faithful member of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church. Jane loved flowers and enjoyed gardening.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bernard Barry of Lyndonville; three children, Daniel (Elizabeth) Barry of Canandaigua, Wendy Barry of Rochester and Robert Barry of Medina; three grandchildren, Danielle (Shane) Owens, Melissa Barry (fiancé, Aaron Griffin) and Jillian Barry (Jairus Martin); a great-granddaughter, Maeve Martin; sister, Betty (late Thomas) Kelley; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 1 p.m. at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, 102 N. Main St., Lyndonville. Interment will follow in Lynhaven Cemetery. MEDINA – Antoine “Vic” Vicknair, Jr., 77, of Medina, entered into rest on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. Born January 15, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was a son of the late Antoine Vicknair, Sr. and Rita (Cambre) Vicknair.

Upon graduating high school, Vic joined the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971. He then served many years in the Army Reserves until 1994. Vic married the former Kathleen J. Faivre on July 31, 1971. They moved to the Medina area in 1973, where they made their home and raised a family of two daughters. He was employed by Fisher-Price Toys for 22 years. Upon their closing, he worked for Corson’s Manufacturing in Lockport and upon their closing he worked for Associated Brands, where he retired from after 8 years.

Never one to sit idle, Vic was very active in volunteer work. He was a proud and active member of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion through which he was very active with the honor guard for funeral military honors and Memorial Day activities among many others. Alongside his wife, Kathy, Vic also volunteered with the Knights-Kaderli Memorial Fund, the Crystal Ball fundraiser and also the Orleans Community Health Foundation for the Treasure Island fundraiser.

In addition to his parents, Vic was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Vicknair and Lawrence Vicknair; and two brothers in-law, Walter “Sonny” Edler and Rodney Pouche.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kathleen Vicknair; two daughters, Renee (George) Lama of Hilton and Caryn (Nathan) Mellom of Beloit, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Aaron Lama, Gavin and Cole Mellom; sisters, Carol Edler, Sharlene (Brent) Guillot, Trudy (Bobby) Oplihant and Sandra Pouche; sister in-law, Ann Vicknair; also several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. A luncheon will follow at the Knowlesville Methodist Fellowship Hall. SHELBY – Stephen Arthur Leffler, 83, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 due to complications of emergency surgery.

Born to the late Elmer and Mildred (Bruning) Leffler on June 21, 1938, Stephen lived his entire life in the West Shelby area where he grew up with and later married Bette (nee Caleb) 63 years ago.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Bette; five children, Michael Leffler, Michelle Leffler, Amy (Arthur) Washak, Darcy (Ed) Kaminski and Heidi Kuhmann; grandchildren, Stephanie Prawel, Andrew Washak, Kari (Joseph) Root, Katie, Madison and Zoe Kaminski, Jacob and Melanie Kuhmann; and great-grandsons, Barrett and Owen Root.

Steve was predeceased by his two sisters, Virginia Messore and Linda Mietz.

He is survived by his brother, Timothy (Tina) Leffler of North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Frank Messore and Donald Mietz; sister-in-law, Karen Larson; and many nieces and nephews.

Steve worked for many years at GM Harrison Radiator in Lockport, retiring as a maintenance foreman. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport. Steve was a talented remodeler and woodworker. In addition to his own home, he lent a hand to each of his children to build, repair or remodel their homes. He also created elaborate birdhouses and he was very proud of his over-the-top Christmas light displays. His favorite saying was no sweat, no big deal.

Steve took his family on camping trips for a number of years and then traveled throughout the US with Bette, Shelley and Stephanie logging many miles and adventures. He was always ready for a trip, especially to St. Pete’s Beach and the Outer Banks where we would meet up with family. Steve was blessed to have all his family nearby and considered eight at the dinner table a normal day, not a special occasion. He had a special relationship with granddaughter, Stephanie and with his caretaker cat, Pippi.

A highlight every year for Steve was his birthday and Father’s Day clambake hosted by Amy and Art. At one of these parties it was famously stated “Steve Leffler, the greatest man I’ve ever known.” We think so.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 17^th, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.

Donald Thomas “Tom” O’Brien, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home on Tue., May 10, 2022, with his loving family by his side.

Born July 3, 1934, in Medina, he was a son of the late Francis Edward and Margaret Elizabeth (Kelly) O’Brien.

A graduate of Medina High School class of 1952, Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He married the former Carol Gotts on June 6, 1959, and together, they raised a family of five children.

Tom was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation and retired as a chief line mechanic in 1994 after 38 years. He also assisted with his family’s business, O’Brien’s Tavern, before its sale in 1971. Tom worked at Cooper Funeral Home for many years as a funeral assistant post-retirement, enjoying his role as Greeter. Tom’s genial smile and affable personality were appreciated by all who met him.

Mr. OB loved sports. He played for the Medina MAC semipro football team and loved to bowl, golf, and play softball. Tom was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church Medina. He was also a 4^th Degree member of Medina Council #651, Knights of Columbus, Lincoln Post #1483, V.F.W., Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and the Junior Wilson Sportsman’s Club.

He enjoyed fishing trips at Lake Nipissing, Ontario, Canada, and spending time at the family cottage on Lake Ontario, often with a Manhattan in hand. A truly kind and genuine person, Tom will be missed by many and remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Carol G. O’Brien; five children: Donald T. O’Brien, Jr., Patrick M. (Sarah) O’Brien, Kellie M. (Kimberly LaMendola) O’Brien, Shannon C. (Nicole) O’Brien and Erin P. (Rose Marie) O’Brien; former daughter-in-law, Terry O’Brien; grandchildren: Stephen, Amanda, Timothy, Jarrett, Brendan, Mackenzie, Alex, Devon, Jordan and Katherine “Kate”; several great-grandchildren; brother, Francis E. “Bud” (Mary Ann) O’Brien; sister, A. Maureen Anderson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his sister, Rosemary (James W.) Cooper; in-laws, Florence and Howard Gotts; brother-in-law, John P. Anderson.

Calling hours will be held on Thu., May 19, from 4-8 pm at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., May 20, at 10 am at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Patricia A. “Patty” (Stratton/Ergott) Montrois, of Albion passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 17, 2022. She was born March 17, 1940 in Newark, NY to the late Bernard and Myrtle (Cassady) Stratton.

Patricia enjoyed baking, playing cards and spending time with her friends, family and her grandchildren. In her younger years she worked at Loblaws in Albion before she eventually retired after 30 years from Delco Products/ITT Automotive/Valeo.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold (Shirley) Stratton.

Patrica is survived by her husband of 30 years, Richard Montrois; children: Delvin (Marci) Ergott III, Paul (Karen Allen) Ergott, Kathryn (Michael) Gross, Steven (Krissy) Montrois, Julie (Gregory) Hahn; grandchildren: Delvin IV, Jennie, Katie, Gianni, Lydia, Mason, Elliott, Deklend, Aliya; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Ave., Albion, NY 14411 on Wed., May 25 from 3-7pm where her memorial service will follow Thu., May 26 at 11am. Interment will be held in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
