Gregory T. Schmitt

KENT – Gregory T. Schmitt, 75, passed away June 3, 2022, at Unity Hospital. He was born January 31, 1947, in Rochester, NY a son of the late Julius and Lorraine (Quicke) Schmitt.

Greg served in the United States Navy during Vietnam stationed on one of the first Nuclear Submarines, USS James K. Polk. He was again called to serve his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Army National Guard.

He retired as an engineer from RG&E.  Greg enjoyed fixing things and riding his motorcycle. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan; children, Karl Schmitt, Kurt (Cathy) Schmitt, Kara Schmitt, Ashley Schmitt and Kristian Schmitt; grandchildren, Cole, Zach, Kelsey and Katie; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Ella; sisters, Sharon Schott and Jean Crawford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 21 W. Avenue, Albion, on Wednesday June 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by his funeral service at 1 p.m. Military honors will be held at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Orleans County Joint Veterans Council, 14016 Rte. 31, Albion, NY 14411.

Jeffrey Hudson Coyle

ROCHESTER – Jeffrey Hudson Coyle, 60, of Rochester, NY, passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with diabetes.

Jeffrey was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Hilda Coyle and siblings, Sallie Myers and John Coyle.

He is survived by his sons, Dylan Coyle and Jesse Coyle; sibling, Cynthia Coyle; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor. We request all of Jeff’s friends and loved ones join us in celebrating his life at Mendon Pond’s Park, Calvary Lodge, County Rd. 74, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472 on June 24th from 2 to 8 p.m.

Richard W. Wagner

Richard W. Wagner, 76, of Albion died unexpectedly at home May 31, 2022.

He was born Sept. 15, 1945 in Albion to John and Maria (Justin) Wagner and was a life-long resident of this area.  Richard was a member and past president for over 30 years of the Albion Rod and Gun Club.  He was an active sportsman and especially enjoyed deer hunting.  In addition, he found pleasure in farming on his land.  Richard was a collector of classic cars and enjoyed tinkering with just about anything.  He could build or fix anything and would always be in his shop doing something.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Theresa; his sons: John Wagner of Albion, Steven (Susan) Wagner of Pittsburgh; his brother, Carl (Jeanette) Wagner of Clarendon; 1 grandson, Ryan; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Ave., Albion, Tue., June 7 from form 3-5 pm where his funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 5 pm.  Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

Marilyn L. Lartz

Marilyn L. Lartz, 90, of Lyndonville, NY, entered into rest to be reunited with her husband Laverne Allen Lartz in heaven on Feb. 8, 2022.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Ellen Lartz of Buffalo, a dear nephew, Bruce Spencer of Lockport, siblings Shirley Spencer of Lockport, Melvin (Darcy) Seefeldt of Arizona , a goddaughter, Cindy Incho of Medina, nephews Douglas Lartz of Nicholson, PA and Robert Newman of Barker, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joyce Henry

Joyce Henry of Kendall passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wed., May 25, 2022.

Predeceased by her husband, George Henry; son, Richard Scott Pierce; and 2 brothers, James Robinson and Robert Robinson Jr.

She is survived by her daughters: Deborah (Michael) Stein, Cynthia Young and Colette (Richard Tillinghast) Batten; grandchildren: William Stein, Joshua Stein, Geoffrey Pierce, Caitlyn Heidenreich, Yadira Page, Jasmin Payne, and Jade Arroyo; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marge (Walt) Hauf, Patsy Hauf and Betty DeSarro; stepchildren: Richard (Cindy) Henry, Charles (Laurie) Henry and Deborah (Tim) Smyth, Karen Henry; and many nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.

Joyce was active (with George) in their boating community as well as their street association. She was loving and giving with her family and her community and graceful in the way she handled life’s challenges.

All services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In honor of Joyce, those wishing may contribute to the Morton Fire Department in her memory.

Matthew (Matt) James Dodge, Sr

Matthew (Matt) James Dodge, Sr, 66, died May 11, 2022 in his Cumming, GA home with his family by his side.

Matt was born Sept. 1, 1955 in Lockport, NY to Edward S. and M. Patricia Dodge. He graduated from Royalton-Hartland High School in 1973, where he was VP of his senior class and enjoyed many aspects of his high school, including being part of musicals and choir. He received a Bachelor Degree in Education from the State University of New York College at Oneonta in 1977. Matt began his teaching career in Houston, Texas where he met his wife, Suzanne.

He then enjoyed a 17-year career with Toys R Us as an Inventory Control Manager, finally retiring from Sony Mobile after 8 years. Matt was a kind and loving father who put his family first. He enjoyed reading (his favorite pastime), loved nature, our National Parks, and chasing waterfalls.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Amanda Nicole Dodge.

Survived by his wife of 43 years: Suzanna Veronica Dodge; children: Matthew J. (Ashley) Dodge, Jr, Jeffrey M. (Tori) Dodge, Travis A. Dodge, Wesley B. Dodge, Austin N. (Hilary) Dodge, Colleen N. Dodge; his siblings: Margaret (Harold) Allen, Mary (Mike) Cooley, Edward (Julie) Dodge, Daniel (Robin) Dodge; and seven grandchildren.

The family received friends on May 21, 2022  at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.

Laura Jean Dibley (Perry)

Laura Jean Dibley (Perry), 35 of Albion passed away surrounded by her family at the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence on May 30, 2022. She was born April 22, 1987, to Sandy Hapeman and the late Tom Perry in Rochester, NY.

Laura was part of the Albion Central School District graduating class of 2005. She was a free spirit with attitude. She made friends easily with her outgoing personality and sense of humor, which led her to marry her best friend and true love, Joe Dibley, on Oct. 13, 2012. Laura loved that her birthday was on Earth Day and celebrated every year by going to the zoo to feed the elephants. What Laura loved most was being a stay-at-home mom to her son Keegan. She treasured their morning snuggles, movie watching and ice cream dates.

In addition to her father, Laura was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Dick and Dody Hapeman.

Left to carry on Laura’s memory is her husband, Joseph Dibley and son Keegan at home; mother, Sandy Hapeman (Mike Ianni); big sister, Sarah Cassidy (John); niece and nephew: Emily and Brayden Cassidy; inlaws, Francis and Linda Dibley; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Richard Otto Seifart

Richard Otto Seifart, 64, of Rolla, MO, passed away on Tue., Jan. 4, 2022 at Phelps Health in Rolla. He was born Feb. 8, 1957 in Albion, NY, the son of Eric and Jessie (Gaylord) Seifart.

Richard was a graduate of Lyndonville Central School. It was in school that he met the love of his life Suzanne Zeliff whom he married in 1976. Richard was a truck driver and drove for Elrod Truck Service for the past 20 years. When he wasn’t on the road, he loved spending time with his family, playing ball with his dog Baylee, and most of all camping with his wife.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; inlaws: Evelyn and Herb Zeliff; and sister-in-law Deborah Derisley.He is survived by his wife, Suzanne of Rolla, MO; daughter, Erica (David) Andress of Vienna, MO; sister, Janice (Paul) Hetebry of Seymour, MO; brother, John (Louise) Seifart of Lyndonville; inlaws: Peter Zeliff of Batavia, Michael (Darlene) Zeliff of Lyndonville, Pamela (Terry Watson) of Lyndonville, Tracy (Thomas) Jennings of Oakfield; many nieces, nephews, other loving friends and family members including: Dennis and Diane Wight of Albion and Kathy Zeliff of Oakfield.

A Celebration of Life will be June 11, 2022 at 11 am at the Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Lyndonville.

Floyd H. Caldwell

CAMBRIA – Floyd H. Caldwell, 90, of the Town of Cambria, NY, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in  Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was born in Medina, NY, on  October 23, 1931, a son of the late Victor and Hazel [Buisch] Caldwell.

Mr. Caldwell graduated from Medina High School and Erie Technical Institute. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean War.

Mr. Caldwell an architect and partner with Duchscherer Oberst Design in Kenmore for many years before retiring.

He was an active member of the Community Bible Church and enjoyed playing cards.

Mr. Caldwell was the  husband of 56 years to the late Comfort L. [Green]  Caldwell, who passed away in May of 2012.

He is survived by two sons, Bradley (Alta Longware) Caldwell and Dale (Michele) Caldwell; two granddaughters, Mikayla and Alyea Caldwell; a brother, Edward (Lola) Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Caldwell was the brother of the late Leon, Donald, William and Victor Caldwell.

His family will be present on Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Brad Delp officiating.

Adana Zambito (Knight)

ALBION – Adana Zambito (Knight), 44, of Albion passed away peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital on May 26, 2022. She was born November 18, 1977 in Brockport, NY. She died of rare complications from COVID.

Adana was a sweet soul and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sophia and Lily Zambito; her sister Rebekah (husband Andrew) Papke, their daughter, Kitty; her brother, Jeremiah (significant other Jen Viza) Knight, their girls, Ashley Hapeman, Maleah, Julia and McKinley Knight; her mom, Kim Martillotta-Muscarella and her dad Neal Muscarella; also, her birth father, Dondel Knight and half-sister, Michelle Thomas.

“When I die, remember that what you know of me is with you always. What is buried is only the shell of what was. Do not regret the shell, but remember the woman. Remember the mother.”

A celebration of life for Adana will be held on June 25th from 1 to 4 p.m. at 20 South Main St. Albion, NY 14411 (Marti’s on Main).

Jean E. Dingman

MEDINA – Jean E. Dingman, 85, of Medina, NY, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Medina Memorial Hospital, North Wing.

She was born on May 12, 1937 at home on East Shelby Rd. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel (Greene) Scharlau.

On March 20, 1957, Jean married the love of her life, the late Joel K. Dingman and together they raised a son. Jean worked for many years for G.C. Murphy’s and later retired as a Corrections Officer for the Orleans County Jail. Jean took great pride in being a member of the East Shelby Volunteers Ladies Auxiliary for 47 years, serving as past President and Trustee. She took great comfort in attending services at the Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church of Medina. Most of all Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a proud grandma to her grandsons.

Jean is survived by her son, Walter K. (Wanda) Dingman; two grandsons, Derek and Nickolas Dingman, all of Medina; a sister, Margaret (Gordon) Reigle of Medina; a brother-in-law, William (Nancy) Dingman of Pennsylvania; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jean is predeceased by a brother, Walter (Barb) Scharlau; a sister, Shirley (William) Walters; and a sister-in-law, Dora “Dody” Wilson.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103 where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Vincent Iorio officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Daniel Webb Rhoads

MEDINA – Daniel Webb Rhoads of Floral City, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2022, after a short illness.

Born on May 27, 1941, in Buffalo, he was the son of the late David and Ursula (Webb) Rhoads.  Danny was also predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Rhoads.

Upon graduation, Danny served in the U.S. Navy and then moved to Medina, where he worked for and retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Co. after a long career.  After retirement, Danny and Carol moved to Floral City in 1998. Danny enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with family and friends.  He had many memories of time spent with family on Lime Lake, Machias, NY.  Danny will be remembered for his sense of humor, friendliness and kindness.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Jon Rhoads and Gina (Jamie) Stringfellow of Florida; Jennifer (Paul) Hessel of New York; stepchildren Cynthia (Randy) Hurt and Carrie (Mark) Standish of New York; Chad (Lisa) Plummer of Florida; brother David (Marilyn) Rhoads of Ohio; sister Rachael (Kenneth) Druszkowski of New York; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Mary E. Kuhn

ALBION – Mary E. Kuhn, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at home. Born in Albion, NY on August 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Celia (Donovan) Keeler.

Mary was a graduate of Wheelock College in Boston, MA where she earned a B.S. Ed. in 1959. Mary cherished her family and was a caregiver to many. She was preceded in death by husband, Jake Kuhn; brother, James Keeler; and nephew, Paul Keeler.

Mary is survived by her children, David and John of Hoboken, NJ, James of Rochester, NY, Julia Wamp of Skaneateles, NY, and Sarah Daniels of Tacoma, WA; her grandchildren, Jenna, Jayne, Jordan, Jake, Nicholas, Max, Lily, Elizabeth, Weston, Henry, Keeler, Cecilia and Ivy; great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Sophie and step-grandson, Mason; sisters-in-law, Pat Keeler, Lorraine Yungfleisch and Gloria Kuhn; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be no calling hours. She was a lifetime communicant of St. Joseph’s Church/Holy Family Parish where a Celebration of Her Life will be held June 13 at 11 a.m. Burial immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Albion.

Deborah G. Napoli

MEDINA – Deborah G. (Brunner) Napoli, 72, of Fruit Avenue, Medina NY passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY.

Born on January 21, 1950, in North Tonawanda, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Donna (Wallace) Brunner. Debbie graduated from North Tonawanda High School and went on to obtain her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education from Oneonta State University and a Master’s Degree in Food Science in 1977 from Buffalo State College..

Debbie was a beloved teacher at the Medina Central School District, teaching several classes in Home Economics and Special Education classes for 30 years until her retirement ten years ago. In 1993, she married Brian P. Napoli and they made their beautiful warm home on Fruit Avenue in the Town of Ridgeway.

She loved all of her students and was well known for the many costumes and designs she made for the theatrical programs at Medina High School for decades. Yarn and fabrics were the tools of her trade and she so enjoyed the theatrical productions she helped bring to the stage.  Debbie also received an award from GO ART as recognition of her many years of efforts on behalf of the students she taught.

Debbie was a member of St. Mary’s Church, relished her time with Father Paul Whitney and was an instrumental member of the church restoration committee assisting in the color schemes of the restoration and sewed various cloth pieces used in the church services.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Brian P. Napoli of Medina; her brother Mark Brunner of North Tonawanda; three nieces Ryan Lindemuth, Megan Janas and Morgan Eaton; a nephew, Loren Brunner; two sister-in-laws, Denise Brunner and Yvonne Devantier.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Douglas Brunner.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl Street, Medina NY 14103. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle Street, Medina NY 14103, with Rev. Bernard Nowak celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery immediately following.

Joseph D. “Joey” Arico

Joseph D. “Joey” Arico, 59, of Medina, passed away on Mon., May 23, 2022.

Joey was born on July 28, 1962, to the late Joseph V. & Genevieve (Pitcher) Arico. He was seven when the family moved to Medina in 1969. Joey volunteered for the Red Cross and many other charitable organizations in Medina. He also worked for EMSA for several years. He loved his mother and cared for her until her passing in 2001. Over the last few months, he shared with us his love for our Lord Jesus Christ and looked forward to his homecoming in Heaven. “He is finally Home.”

Joey was predeceased by his parents, Joseph V. and Genevieve Arico; sister, Donna Chaplin; and brothers, Jeffrey Haun and Douglas Haun.

He is survived by five sisters: Rosemary (late George) Hall, Madelyn Wasnock, Jennifer Arbasak, Paula Incorvia, Charlotte (Gonzalo) Lopez; three brothers: Mark (Susie) Arico, Nicholas (Corinna) Arico and Harold “Butch”(Lora) Arico; brother in-law, James Chaplin; and many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his Goddaughter, Sunshine Heschke.

A private family viewing was held at Cooper Funeral Home, Medina. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.

Michael G. Paull

Michael G. Paull, 58, of Medina, NY passed away suddenly on Wed., May 18, 2022 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo. He was born on Oct. 22, 1963 in London, England, the son of Sally Harper and the late Gordon Paull.

Michael grew up in Ontario, Canada and graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor Degree in Communications.  After that, he coached the Waterloo Tigers Volleyball Club for over ten years.  During this time he also began his career as a volleyball referee, ultimately earning an International level rank.  This led to worldwide travel, the highlight of which was being selected to officiate the 2012 London Olympic Games.  Volleyball was also instrumental in meeting his wife, Renee.

Michael also attended Stratford Chef School in Ontario, Canada, graduating in 2000. For 22 years, he was employed as a Chef at the County Club of Buffalo, where he was well known for his creative displays and engaging interactions with both fellow staff and club members.

Michael was a constant supportive father to all of his son’s endeavors, giving wise advice and transportation to the numerous activities.  He was a Cub Scout leader for Pack 28 for a number of years and later was an Assistant Scout Leader for Boy Scout Troop 35, helping Ray gain the rank of Eagle Scout.  He was an avid reader, and enjoyed working outside in his garden and yard.

Besides his mother Sally and step-father Steve Garbatt, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Renee Paser-Paull; son, Ray Paull; brother, Steve (Simone) Paull of Woodstock, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.  He will also be remembered by the countless lives he touched and many people he mentored both in the volleyball and culinary worlds.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina on Sat. June 18, 2022, from 12-2 p.m. and with a Celebration of Life Service at 2 pm.

Bonnie M. “Momo” Parsons

Bonnie M. “Momo” Parsons, 56, of Lyndonville, NY,  went to be with the Lord on Thu., May 19, 2022 at the Niagara Hospice, Lockport, NY.

Born on February 9, 1966 in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the Late Theodore and Nancy (Lane) Dunn Sr.

She graduated from Lyndonville High School in 1984 and later married Lloyd Parsons and together raised four children. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren.

She survived by her husband of 39 years, Lloyd Parson of Barre; four children: Lloyd Parsons Jr. of Angola, NY, Joshua (Joey) Parsons of Medina, Amanda (Antonio “TJ’ Lopez) Parsons of Medina, Tiffany Parsons of Olcott; 10 grandchildren, three siblings and several nieces and nephews.

Donald G. Ferris Jr., 88, of Medina passed away May 23, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Kendall a son of the late Donald and Martha (Fluegel) Ferris.

Mr. Ferris served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Donald was employed by the Village of Medina as a Heavy Equipment Operator for almost years, retiring in 1991.  He was a former member of the Ridgeway Fire Co. and volunteered at the Joint Veterans Service Council, driving veterans to their appointments.  He was an avid camper, Sabres fan, loved tinkering and spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer Dart.  Donald is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pat; daughters: Stephanie Ferris and Dianna Ferris; son-in-law, Darrell Dart; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; brothers: Edward (Mary Jane) Ferris, David (Tamara) Ferris and Greg (Nancy) Ferris; nieces, nephews, cousins.

No prior calling.  Donald’s graveside service with military honors at Mt. Albion Cemetery will be announced at a later date.

Margaret Koneski (nee Dillon),

Margaret Koneski (nee Dillon), 98, passed away on Fri., May 20, 2022 at the Absolut Center for Nursing & Rehab in Gasport.

Mrs. Koneski was a daughter of the late Henry and Harriett (Jedrzejewski) Dillon, born in Medina on July 24, 1923. She graduated from Medina High School and married William A. Koneski on April 6, 1942.

Mrs. Koneski was employed for many years at the New York State Department of Labor Unemployment Division. She was also a long time parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church. Mrs. Koneski served as president of the Lincoln Post #1483 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, president of the Niagara County Council VFW Ladies Auxiliary and also of District #7 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteered at Medina Memorial Hospital and enjoyed knitting and being outdoors.

Left to cherish her memory as her daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Bramer of Alden; son, William (late Marie) Koneski of Medina; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William A. Koneski in 1983; daughter, Pauline Zuczuski; grandson, Robert Bramer; and brothers, Richard Dillon, Gordon Dillon and Henry “Matt” Dillon.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tue., May 31 at 11am at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.

Loretta J. Koneski

MEDINA – Loretta J. Koneski, 91, of Medina entered into rest peacefully at home on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Born May 1, 1931 in Medina, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Agnes (Cotriss) Balcerzak.

She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church. Mrs. Koneski worked for many years at G.C. Murphy Co. in Medina, retiring in 1994.

Mrs. Koneski is survived by two daughters, including Patricia (Mark) Eaton of Medina; siblings, Francis (late Ann) Balcerzak and Michael (Carolyn) Balcerzak; sister in-law, Patricia Balcerzak; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leo Koneski; siblings, Donald (Nedra), Anthony Jr., Joseph (Dorothy), Mary (William) Knights, Eleanor (Robert) Rignall, Kate (William) Gunn, Leonard (Kathryn) Balcerzak and Helen (Thomas) Morien.

An hour of calling will be held on Wednesday, May 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina.
