Joyce A. Staines

Joyce StainesJoyce A. Staines, 92, of Albion, died Aug. 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 30, 1927 in the Town of Ridgeway, a daughter of the late Ralph and Fanny (Putnam) Axtell, and she lived in this area all of her life.

Joyce graduated from Lyndonville High School. She was a very active member of Albion Free Methodist Church, where she served over 50 years as the treasurer and volunteered as a Sunday School and Bible Study teacher. She was a member of the Home Demo Group (Home Bureau) of the Cornell Cooperative Extension and was a 4-H leader for many years. Joyce loved traveling and seeing the world; she visited all 50 states, and she traveled to Russia with her daughter, Cheryl, to bring Hannah home from an orphanage.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Paul L. Staines; daughter, Cheryl Staines; and brothers and sisters, Harold Axtell, Marion Plumber, Arnold Axtell, Helen Rutherford, Marjorie Canham, Gerald Axtell and Ralph Axtell.

She is survived by her second husband, Charles; children, Greg (Sherrie) Staines of Albion, Pamela (Michael) Merrill of Hilton, and Dr. Brenda (David) Bierdeman of Albion; 12 grandchildren, Matt, Tim, Katie, Josh, Mary, Chad, Lisa, Jory, Hannah, Quinn, Nathaniel and Cade; several great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Fri., Aug. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Albion Free Methodist Church, 25 S. Platt St., Albion NY 14411, where her funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Robert E. Fuller

Robert FullerRobert E. Fuller, 88, of West Shelby, entered into rest peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thu., Aug. 15, 2019. He was born March 10, 1931 at the family homestead on Salt Works Road, a son of the late E. Laverne and Dorothy (Puff) Fuller.

He was a graduate of Medina High School, class of 1950. He went on to have a career at Harrison Radiator/Delphi in Lockport, and he retired after 30 years. Having grown up on the family farm, Bob was a lifelong farmer. He was also a charter member of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Company. Bob enjoyed sports, particularly baseball, and he coached youth baseball in West Shelby. He loved animals, especially his dogs. An avid gardener, Bob will be fondly remembered for his beautiful vegetable gardens, which generously provided a bountiful harvest for his family and many friends.

He is survived by his former wife, Barbara Allen; seven children, Loren (Wendy) Fuller, Donald (Anne) Fuller, Patricia (Sam) Schepis, Darlene (Philip) Schepis, Dorothy (David) Nolan, Douglas (Danielle) Fuller and Brenda Provorse; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Laverne “Bud” (late Doris) Fuller, Elizabeth “Betty” (late William) Menz, W. Paul (late Pat) Fuller and Dorothy “Dottie” (Edward) Hellwig; also several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his son, Joseph Fuller; and sister, E. Barbara (late Merle) Draper.

Family and friends may call on Mon., Aug. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. A graveside committal service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Tue., Aug. 20 at 2 p.m., after which the family invites everyone to join them back at the Fuller homestead for a picnic in celebration of Bob’s life.

Royce N. Caleb Sr.

Royce Caleb

Royce N. Caleb Sr., 82, of Medina, entered into rest on Wed., Aug. 14, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Born March 4, 1937, he was a son of the late Harrison W. and Ana Marie (Davis) Caleb. Royce graduated from Medina High School in 1955 and went on to serve in the Air National Guard. For many years, he owned and operated the Towpath Grocery Store in Knowlesville alongside his wife, Beverly. Royce was a lifelong member and past president of the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company and was also involved with the Medina Mustang Band Boosters. He worked for many years as a truck driver for Keeler Construction, after which he worked as a bus driver for Medina Central School District. Whether he was running his water hauling business, doing woodworking or helping out his neighbors, Royce loved to keep busy. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.

He is survived by his three children, Royce “Rusty” (Lanore) Caleb Jr., Debra (Bill) Lavigne and Terry (Wendy) Caleb; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Bock, Brian Caleb, Adam (Jennifer) Lavigne, Courtney (Michael) Gilday, Allison (Chris) Reichard, Nicole (Brent) Habgood and Kristopher (Michael) Reinstadtler; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Luella Caleb, Janice Caleb and Donna Chilson; several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly C. Caleb, on April 11, 2019; and four siblings, Ruth (Frank) Fenton, Harrison (Ruthie) Caleb, Arnold Caleb and Lyell Caleb.

Family and friends are invited to a casual reception in memory of Royce on Thu., Aug. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ridgeway Fire Hall, 11392 Ridge Road, Medina. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery at a later date.

Elmer LePard

Elmer A. LePard, 97, of Middleport, died Aug. 13, 2019 in Niagara Hospice. He was born July 29, 1922 in Middleport and was a lifetime resident of this area.

Elmer lived and worked on his dairy farm with his wife and children for more than 25 years. He also worked at the Niagara Power Project, and for 22 years at Harrison Radiator. Elmer was a member of the Medina Moose and the Eagles, and he was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons for over 75 years. He will always be remembered for his big smile and the love he had for his family.

Elmer was the beloved husband of the late Bernice (Reisman) LePard; beloved father of Brenda Campbell, Sandra (Leslie) Vaughn, Carol (Wayne) Woodin Jr., Ronald LePard and the late Laura LePard; dear grandfather of Tracey, Jeffrey, Tricia, Aaron, Eric, Lisa, Christopher, Jeremy, Ashley and Spencer; great-grandfather of Jordan, Clayton, Ryan, Mason, Aurora, Thomas, Tucker, Wessin and Kalyn; and brother of his late twin sister, Eleanor Dees-Detweiler, John LePard, Violet Ward-Haubert, Gladys Jann, Hazel McKenna and Edna Mae Conlin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Mon., Aug. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, where his funeral service will be held Tue., Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

William Ogden

William R. Ogden, 73, of Albion, died Aug. 13, 2019 in the Martin Linsin Residence following a short illness. He was born Aug. 12, 1946 in Clearfield, Pa. to Willard and Betty (Lanagar) Ogden and lived in this area most of his life.

Bill worked as a supervisor at United Memorial Medical Center, and he had a love for motorcycles, playing the guitar, and dogs – especially Rottweilers.

Mr. Ogden was predeceased by his wife, Gail.

He is survived by his daughter, Holly Finnin of Batavia; his brother, Robert; his sisters, Martha and Barbara; as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. Services and interment in Morganville Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.

Tamara Adams

Tamara L. Adams, 53, of Clarendon, died Aug. 12, 2019 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 22, 1965 in Rochester to Gary and Dianne (Konvinse) Adams and lived in this area her entire life.

Tammy was a member of the Clarendon Lions Club and was a former communications specialist at GCC. She enjoyed running, traveling, playing bingo, hand cycling, and raising her children.

She was predeceased by her sister, Shelly; and a son, Neil Brundage.

She is survived by her partner in life for over 15 years, David Brundage; her children, Natasha (Todd) Burger of Caledonia, Christa Richards of Clarendon, Adrian Richards of Georgia, Jason Brundage of Irondequoit, Pauline Twardowski of Gaines, and Daniel Brundage of Kendall; her mother, Dianne (John) Albers of Clarendon; her father, Gary (Mary) Adams of Clarendon; sisters, Melanie Adams of Spencerport and Val Adams of Holley; many grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Tammy’s service and interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Harold Thompson

Harold “Hal” Joseph Thompson, 58, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Fri., Aug. 9, 2019 doing what he loved with his brother by his side.

Hal was a humble yet larger-than-life person. He loved his work, hiking and, most of all, his family. He was an honorable man who served his country and his community. He will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Blake Russell.

He is survived by his father, Harold (Barbara) Thompson; mother, Eleanor Thompson; son, Blake (Brittaney) Thompson; daughter, Erica (Fred Pittman) Russell; grandchildren, Jessica Birchfiel, Brittany Birchfiel and Kaylin Pittman; brother, Kris (Julie) Thompson; and sisters, Cindy (Walt) Makowski, Laurie (Reid) Cole, and Eileen (Scott) Ryan; and a host of family and friends.

Alvin Smith

Alvin W. Smith, 80, of East Shelby, went to be with the Lord on Sat., Aug. 10, 2019 at Buffalo General Hospital, after a long illness.

Born on Nov. 11, 1938 in Medina, he was the son of the late Clinton and Mary (Baker) Smith.

In 1957, Alvin graduated from Medina High School and went to work at Harrison Radiator. After 10 years, he left to work on the family farm in East Shelby. Alvin enjoyed playing blackjack and craps at the casino.

He is survived by a daughter, Nicole (Terry) Goodrich of Medina; two granddaughters, Abigail and Grace; siblings, Marian Rechakn of Cape Coral, Fla. and Martin Smith of Lockport; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Smith of Medina and Wanda Smith of Deltona, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Alvin is predeceased by his brothers, Myron, Howard and James Smith.

Peter E. Allen

Peter AllenAmerican flagPeter E. Allen, 78, of Barre, passed away May 25, 2019 at Rochester General Hospital. He was born Sept. 8, 1940 in Batavia, a son of the late Leon and Grace (Peters) Allen.

Peter was a 1958 graduate of Albion High School who served his country in the United States Army. He was a former employee of Freeman’s Cycle Ranch, and he retired from the Orleans County Highway Department. Peter started motorcycle racing at an early age and was a very active life member of the Crusaders Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge of motorcycles with several generations, especially with the Standish and Hazel families, with whom he traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Peter touched many lives and will be remembered by many in the racing circuit. When Peter wasn’t busy with racing, he enjoyed NASCAR.

He is survived by his brother, William (Donna) Allen; his H.A.S. family, Leon and Deloris Standish, Kevin and Dawn Hazel, Dean and Cyndy Standish, Brandi and Jeremy DiMatteo, Bryan Hazel, Brad and Amy Hazel, Trevor Standish, Jace and Braelyn DiMatteo, Aviannah Hughson, Brody and Bryson Hazel; three nieces; and many friends.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 17 at Millville Cemetery, East Shelby Road. A celebration of Pete’s life will follow at the Hazel home, 13228 Otter Lane, Albion, beginning at 2 p.m.

Emma WeaderEmma J. Weader, 88, of Holley, passed away Aug. 10, 2019. She was born Nov. 25, 1930 in the Town of Sweden.

Emma retired from the Holley Central School District, where she drove school busses and was a custodian. Emma loved Christmas, the New York Yankees, camping, traveling, sewing, flower gardening, and volunteering at the Town of Sweden Senior Center. She was always busy caring for someone, but her greatest joy was her family.

She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth Owen, in 1989.

She is survived by her loving family, John (Beverly) Weader Jr., Tim Weader and Christine Allen; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Phillips; nieces and nephews.

Robert CovilleRobert “Bob” Coville Jr., 58, of Albion, passed away peacefully on Aug. 9, 2019 after a short illness. He was born July 30, 1961 in Albion to the late Robert and Alice (Thiel) Coville Sr.

Bob was a simple man who found the most joy in spending time with his family and doing things around the house.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Coville and Larry Peruzzini.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sue; daughters, Jamie (Joe) Rotoli and Barbara (Scott) Ward; grandchildren, Christian, Nick, Brayden and Scott; father, Richard Peruzzini; siblings, Margaret (Chuck) Swan, Janet (Don) McClary, Kim (Doug) Mergler and David Peruzzini; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

James Frank “Jim” DeLuca, 70, of Fishers, Ind. and formerly of Holley, passed away peacefully on Aug. 3, 2019. God called me home. He was born Aug 12, 1948 in Brockport to the late James V. and Mary DeLuca. The family later relocated to Holley.

He is survived by his wife, Diane M. DeLuca; his sister, Wendy L. (Tom) McCall; his son, James S. (Veronica) DeLuca; his daughter, Lynar K. (Steven Melle) DeLuca; grandchildren, Gavin, Avery, Marcel and Jett DeLuca, and Steven A. Melle.

A veteran, Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969 as a Machinist Mate on the submarine USS Ethan Allen SSBN-608. To this day, special lifelong friendships exist; he wore his dolphins with pride. God bless the United States of America. Thank you for your service and our freedom.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Jim moved to Phoenix in 1969. He had a 29-year career with the telephone company (Mountain Bell/Qwest/CenturyLink). He retired in 2002 as corporate media producer.

Jim brought two beautiful children into this world, James S. in 1974, and Lynar K. in 1977.

Seeking four seasons and a low cost of living, he and his wife, Diane, fully retired to Fishers in 2009. With limited time on earth, Jim survived metastatic melanoma cancer for more than eight years and, ironically, didn’t die of cancer. Jim and Diane loved their retirement time together. Mornings were for reading. I share with you his favorite excerpt, “I loved with such a love as comes only once in a lifetime,” from the novel, “The Return of Sherlock Holmes.”

A Memorial Mass will take place on Fri., Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers IN 46037.

Jim chose to donate his body to the Indiana University Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.

Barbara J. Parada

Barbara Parada

Barbara J. Parada, 82, of Bonita Springs, Fla. and formerly of Medina, entered into rest on Aug. 7, 2019 in Naples, Fla.

Born June 18, 1937 in Batavia, Barbara was a daughter of the late John and Irene (Schriener) Bloom. She was a graduate of Batavia High School. She married Edward F. Parada Jr. on Aug. 26, 1961, and together they raised their family in Medina. Barbara was a longtime parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Medina. She was a member of the Rosary Society and the Medina Mustang Band Boosters. An avid Elvis fan, she enjoyed listening to 50s music. Barbara worked as a baker in the cafeteria at Medina Central School, and she baked and decorated many wedding and graduation cakes for families around the area. An amazing baker, Barbara will be best remembered for her delicious chocolate chip cookies.

She is survived by her daughter, Michele A. (Michael) Standish of Naples; son, Michael E. (Kathleen) Parada of Adams, Mass.; five grandchildren, Dr. Matthew P. (Marisa) Tracey of Johnstown, Pa., Kyle J. Parada of Bonita Springs, Nathan E. Standish of Naples, Ryan M. Parada of Adams, and Katherine E. Standish of Naples; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Eugene Wanecski, Mary Jane Szczechowiak, Anthony Parada and Maxine Parada; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Parada Jr., on May 12, 2006; her daughter, Jolene M. Tracey on Aug. 7, 2014; her son-in-law, Thomas Tracey, also in 2014; and her sister, Nancy L. Wanecski, on July 2, 2003.

Calling hours will be held on Tue., Aug 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed., Aug 14 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Medina. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Rose Printup

Rose O. Printup, 97, of Elba, passed away peacefully on Wed., Aug. 7, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born Aug. 5, 1922 in Alabama, N.Y. to the late George (Louise Pittared) Chugg.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Llewellyn Printup; son, Duane Printup; and siblings, Clifford, Raymond Chugg, Doris Sickelco and Velma Jary.

Mrs. Printup worked for many years at Brockport Enterprises. She lived a good, full life. Rose loved her family, her roses and, especially, her grandchildren. She went to be with the love of her life, and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving children, Evelyn Ramsey of North Carolina, Dawn Herbert of Brockport, Jeanette (David) Smith of Susquehanna, Pa., and Kenneth L. (Shirley) Printup Sr. of Medina; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jacob A. “Jake” Hendershot, 23, of Albion, passed away unexpectedly on Mon., Aug. 5, 2019.

Born on July 3, 1996 in Malone, N.Y., he was the son of Ann (Chris) (Hendershot) Goodrow and Ted (Tiffany) Champney.

Jake graduated from Medina High School in 2014 and was employed with Whiting Door Company of Akron, N.Y. In his spare time, Jake enjoyed being outdoors, especially while hunting, fishing, and playing lacrosse and basketball. He also enjoyed playing video games. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

Jake is survived by his mother, Ann (Chris) Goodrow of Stockholm, N.Y.; father, Ted (Tiffany) Champney of Albion; maternal grandparents, James (JoAnn) Purcell and Howard (Laura) Goodrow, all of St. Regis Falls, N.Y., and James (Donna) Hendershot of York, S.C.; paternal grandparents, Karen Champney and Mike (Patty) Pisano, both of Medina; three sisters, Jaiden, Olivia and Annalyse; two brothers, Daniel and T. J.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jake is predeceased by an aunt, Suzie Hendershot.

Anthony Kane

Anthony R. Kane Jr., 79, of Lockport, died Aug. 5, 2019 at Beechwood Homes, following a brief illness. He was born Feb. 1, 1940 in Lackawanna, N.Y. to Anthony and Mary (McMahon) Kane Sr., and he lived in the Western New York area his entire life.

Tony was a member of All Saints R.C. Church in Lockport and a member of the Grand Island Rod and Gun Club. He loved puttering in his workshop, skeet shooting, reading and camping, as well as watching old John Wayne westerns and listening to Johnny Cash. In addition, Tony enjoyed spending time on the computer playing “Farmville” and poker. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family.

Mr. Kane was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis.

He is survived by his daughters, Jill Durbin of Lockport and Melinda (Robert) Fogg of Alabama; his brother, Dennis Kane of Lackawanna; his sister, Margaret (Jack) Smart of California; grandchildren, Jeffery Durbin of Lockport and Marissa Fogg of Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats, Frick and Frack.

The family will receive friends at Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport, on Thu., Aug. 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend Tony’s Mass of Christian Burial on Fri., Aug. 9 at 10 a.m. in All Saints R.C. Church, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment will follow in Lancaster Rural Cemetery.

Linda S. Weese, 69, of Clarendon, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital. She was born April 28, 1950 in Lockport to the late Donald and Arleen (Whalen) Hodom.

Linda worked as a senior victim advocate for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department for over 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed riding four-wheelers, gardening, boating in the Thousand Islands, kayaking and, especially, knitting. Linda was a very caring woman who loved her family dearly.

Linda is survived by her lifelong friend and loving husband of 12 years, Jerry; children, Kenny (Lisa) Castricone, Kristi (Robert) Toscano, and Corey (Jessica) Weese; grandchildren, Victor and Stella Castricone, Luke and Max Toscano; brother, James Hodom; and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Thu., Aug. 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Route 31, Holley NY 14470, where her memorial service will be held Fri., Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.

Dr. Kenneth I. Gumaer Jr. DVM

American flagKenneth GumaerDr. Kenneth I. Gumaer, DVM, of Middleport, passed away on Aug. 2, 2019 under the care of Hospice, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Massachusetts on Oct. 12, 1946 to Dr. Kenneth I. Gumaer and Catherine Stahl.

In 1964, he graduated from Rhinebeck High School before continuing his education at Cornell University. After earning his undergraduate degree in 1968, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and he completed basic training and Ranger School at Fort Benning, Ga. In 1969, he went on to serve his country in Vietnam as a  lieutenant of the scout dog patrol unit.

Upon completion of his tour in Vietnam, he went back to Cornell to study veterinary medicine. In 1976, he graduated from Cornell and joined Ridge Animal Hospital in Middleport, where he became a partner. He served that practice’s clientele for over 40 years. His level of dedication to the profession and his work ethic was, and is today, rarely seen.

Dr. Gumaer was the leader of the 4-H Beef Program through Niagara County Cornell Cooperative Extension for many years. He was a role model who inspired many students to pursue careers in the agricultural field. He took great pride and was devoted to being a mentor to the youth in the 4-H program, and it brought him great satisfaction to witness their accomplishments. He has a real passion for passing on his knowledge of beef cattle husbandry.

With his wife, Mary, Dr. Gumaer operated Ladybug Farm in Middleport, where they raised a large herd of Simmental cattle. Through many years of studying the genetics of the cattle, they were able to produce the top gaining and indexing bull over all other breeds at the 2018 Pennsylvania Bull Test.

He was involved in many organizations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Bovine Practitioners Association, American Simmental Association, NY State Beef Producers, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Pennsylvania Simmental Association, New York Simmental Association and WNY Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Gumaer was an incredibly selfless and compassionate man who truly cared about animals and people. He was a respected member of the community who touched many lives. His quiet charm, humble manner and infectious smile will be greatly missed by many.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Kenneth I. Gumaer Sr., DVM, and Catherine (Stahl) Gumaer.

Dr. Gumaer is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Douglas (Pat) Gumaer, Stephanie Gumaer and Peter (April) Gumaer; stepchildren, Alex (Kelly) Spangenberg, Kyle (Nichole) Moore and Justin (Melissa) Adams; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, William (Roz) Gumaer; sister, Holly Clemens; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport, on Wed., Aug. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. Ken’s funeral service will be held at Hartland Bible Church, 8110 West Ave., Gasport, on Thu., Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Hartland Central Cemetery.

Lorraine M. Bukiewicz

Lorraine M. (née Washak) Bukiewicz, 95, of Medina, entered into rest on Wed., July 31, 2019 following a brief illness.

Born May 2, 1924 in Medina, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Sophia (Karlowski) Washak. Mrs. Bukiewicz attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1942. She married Leo A. Bukiewicz on Nov. 25, 1943, and together they raised a family of 10 children. Mrs. Bukiewicz was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, and was a member of Court Santa Maria #295, Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

She is survived by her seven children, Jean (Dr. Luis) Zaffirini of Texas, Ellen (Mark) Goheen of Lyndonville, Ruth (Dr. Javier) Miro of California, Michael Bukiewicz of Texas, Mary C. (Dennis) O’Grady of Albion, John Bukiewicz of Delaware and Barbara Bukiewicz of Medina; nine grandchildren, Kara (fiancé Michael Stafford) Goheen, Brett (Julia) Goheen, Jenna (fiancé Marcus Fisher) Goheen, Elizabeth (Jose) Zaffirini-Rivas, Luis (Tony Veloz) Zaffirini Jr., Laura Zaffirini, Jennifer (Michael) Carlozzi, Melissa (Ryan) Leach and Anna (Borzin) Davari; eight great-grandchildren; her niece, Mary Ann Chunco, who was a great help to her during her recent illness; several other nieces and nephews; and family friend, Dorothy Albanese.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Bukiewicz, on Feb. 1, 2006; four children, Ann Marie Bukiewicz in September 1964, Peter Bukiewicz on Aug. 19, 1999, Lois Bukiewicz on Dec. 31, 2008, and Paul Bukiewicz on July 1, 2012; her brother, Francis Washak Jr., in 1944; and her sister, Gertrude Chunco, on May 26, 2010.

Relatives and friends may call on Mon., Aug. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls on Tue., Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina, and interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Norma Crawford

Norma J. Crawford, 80, of Clarendon, passed away Aug. 1, 2019 at Unity Hospital. She was born June 10, 1939 in Bergen, a daughter of the late Clarence and Irene (Whitaker) FitzSimmons.

Norma was a 1957 graduate of Holley High School and a former employee of Monroe Podiatry, Photos by Bruce and Star Markets. She loved bingo, Yahtzee, hummingbirds and cats. Most of all, Norma loved spending time with her family, and she will be remembered for her famous apple pie.

She is predeceased by her brother, Donald FitzSimmons.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William “Bill”; children, Norman (Lynette) Crawford, Cheryl (Robert) Beisang and Deborah (John) Piedmonte; grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Jacob, Jeremy, Kayla and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Landon, Lydia, Trent, McKenzie and Jackson; brother, Richard FitzSimmons; sister, Eleanor (Rudi) Rinas; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
