Thomas A. Thompson Jr.

Waterport – Thomas A. Thompson Jr. August 1st, 1964 – January 27th, 2025

“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure”.

On August 1, 1964 in Daytona Beach, Florida a son was born to Victoria and Thomas Allen Thompson Sr. He was their first born of five children; they christened him Thomas Allen Thompson Jr. he was affectionately called “Tommy”.

Tommy grew up in Christian home in Waterport, New York and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Medina, New York.

He was educated at Lyndonville Central School where he received his formal high school education.
After high school, he was the first player from Lyndonville (LCS) to receive a College Soccer Scholarship.

Thomas joined the United States Army on October 21, 1986 where he proudly served his country with distinction for twenty-four (24) years. He retired in 2010 with accolades such as the United States Army Good Conduct Medal, The United States Army Achievement Medal, A Bronze Star Medal and many more decorations and Momentos. He was a proud United States Army Veteran.
He was a military gentleman, so his dealings were honorable and upfront. What you see was what you got. Real talk. His actions spoke louder than his words and his words were few.

Tommy is honored today and always, his legacy will empower the future of a life well lived through his offspring, family and all the lives he touched.

In 1989 Tommy met and married his wife, Pamela.  He was an impressive husband and supportive Father of Five (5) children and four (4) grandchildren who meant the world to him.

After his retirement from the Military, Thomas was free to take that deep dive into what he truly loved which was helping the less fortunate and homeless population.  His work with the homeless population and has left a lasting impression that will commit to memory long after his passing.  He was especially a champion and a great mentor to the homeless veteran population and ALL that was placed in his pathway. It was clear that he had a passion to serve mankind.

Thomas deeply showed love and affection for family.  He always had stories about his childhood, his marriage, his children and his beloved siblings, especially Sharon, his only sister. The love for his parents, particularly his father, was matchless. He was always willing to provide assistance to any family members and friends when necessary; but not before consulting them and offering words of advice.  He was a born leader and an excellent example for all to follow.
He especially enjoyed taking trips to The Bahamas to spent time with his family. His trips were not only to Nassau (the capital) but to Abaco, Bimini, Grand Bahama (Freeport) and Cat Island. On the islands he enjoys boating, fishing, grilling, cook-outs and family gatherings while learning about his Bahamian culture through the eyes of his cousins and older Uncles and Aunts.

Arlene F. Boice Sanger

PLATTSBURGH – Arlene F. Boice Sanger’s long and full life came to a peaceful end on February 10, 2025. Arlene packed a lot of living into her 99 years. She was a dedicated instructor of Home Economics, teaching for 32 years in western NY.  She was an enthusiastic traveler, studying in Switzerland and teaching in England, as a Fulbright Scholar as well as traveling the globe. She loved having new experiences and meeting new people.

She was, perhaps most of all, a devoted daughter and mother. She cared for her parents as they aged and made sure her two daughters grew up strong and independent, as she was. She passed her indomitable spirit along to them.

Arlene was born November 26, 1925, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of George and Suessa Boice. She married Roswell J. Sanger in 1956 and, with him, raised their daughters. She split her time, when not traveling, between her home in Albion, NY, the Sanger farm on Rand Hill, and her parents’ home on the St. Lawrence River.

Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Roswell Sanger, and her brother and sister in law, Wendall and Mildred Boice.  Arlene is survived by her daughters, Paula Violo and Jillian Kallish, as well as Paula’s husband, Maurice Violo, and their son, Alex Violo. She is also survived by Frank Kallish and by nieces, a nephew, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

When they were small, Arlene took her daughters and their cousins on a daily walk, to a special “resting spot.” After her full life, we know she has earned her resting spot.

The family wishes to acknowledge the care Arlene received at Pine Harbour, as well as the support from her many kind neighbors and friends.

Graveside services will be held at a later date.

MEDINA – In loving memory of James David Watt, 1943-2025. Born to Mary and Alexander Watt, Jr. on January 6, 1943 in Medina, New York, James (Jim) had 4 siblings, John, Sally, Ramon, and Mary Anne.

A loving, raucous, adventurous crew, everyone knew the “Watt” children on West Center Street. His lifetime best friend Richard (Dick) Garlock often joined in on the adventures.

Jim graduated from Medina High School in 1961. Jim served as a volunteer fireman for the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, an auxiliary police officer for the Medina Police Department and an underwater rescue diver for Orleans County. His entrepreneurial spirt led him to open Jim Watt Antenna at the same he was pursuing his associate’s degree in accounting from Niagra University.

Jim’s accounting career began at N.L. Industries in Niagra Falls, New York. He found his passion for numbers and people and advanced quickly. He was promoted to N.L. Chemicals, moving to Howell, New Jersey, then to Baroid Drilling Fluids in Houston, Texas. Baroid Drilling Fluids was acquired by Halliburton, and Jim retired from Halliburton in 2007 as Controller of the Baroid Drilling Fluids Division North America.

Jim met his match in Gloria. Jim and Gloria married in 1965. In 1967 they welcomed their first child, Timothy James, followed by Melissa Elaine in 1972.

If you had the honor of being in Jim’s circle of influence, you always felt seen. He cared more about the person, then he ever did an outcome. He was empathic to the core and knew exactly how to inspire and comfort at the same time. He expected your best when he knew you could give it. More than anything, he wanted you to believe in yourself just as much as he did.

Jim was a big baseball fan; the New York Yankees and Houston Astros were his favorite teams. He appreciated a well-manicured lawn, classic cars, morning jogs, working out at the gym, and chasing firetrucks, police and paramedics during fires and bad weather events. He loved a good hometown parade, any card game, sharing a cold beer with good friends and family and dropping a good curse word at the most unexpected times. He was a pseudo father to many. Most of all, he loved and valued his family.

Jim’s favorite place was Lake Ontario, New York, where he spent many a good time with family and friends throughout his life. A celebration of his life will be held at Lake Ontario at a later date with close family and friends.

Daniel G. Wright

ALBION, N.Y. – Daniel G. Wright, 70, passed away peacefully at Rochester General with family by his side on January 31, 2025. Born on June 9, 1954, in Albion, he was the son of the late Rance and Estella Jean (Thom) Wright.

Dan got work and life ethics from his Dad very early on. Dan was a farmer through and through. From childhood to his final days, working the land was his life. He spent many years at Dragan Farms, taking pride in every job, big or small. He was also a natural mechanic—if it was broken, Dan could probably fix it.

He had a warm, easy laugh, the kind that made people feel at home. He was quick with a joke, always ready to lift someone’s spirits. Dan cared deeply for his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and was a genuinely kind man. He never thought of himself as anything special, but those around him knew better.

Dan was predeceased by his Dad and Mom, his favorite girl, Beatrice, his nieces Elaine and Patty Stahl, brother-in-law Dick Stahl and brother-in-law Norm Starkweather and his boss and friend Pete Dragan.

Dan is survived by his sister & family Marilyn “Mo” (Mike) Kilborn, Matt (Felicia) Kilborn with Josie & Rachel; Jessica (Ryan Bethem) Kilborn with Myles Bethem; and Mike Kilborn Jr.; sister and family Carolyn (late Norm) Starkweather, with Jackie Stahl and Morgan Haak; brother and family David (Marcia) Thom; Edward (Julie) Reid, Donna (George) Snell, Bridget Haley, Jennifer Thom (Steve Winans); a lifelong friend and love, Lynne Neri Wright, and longtime friends Gary, Warren, Tod, Steve, Jose and friends of Bill, to name a few.

A private celebration of Dan’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of your choice or to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263.

Arrangements are in the care of Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, Albion, NY. To share a memory of Dan, visit www.mitchellfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
