Carl A. “Uncle Joe” “Hoss” VanOrden

Carl graduated Kendall High School in 1972. He worked at Eastman Kodak for many years and after, drove truck for Flamingo Trucking Company; he loved to travel the open road. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers, hunting and loved to dance, play his guitar, sing karaoke and listen to country music; frequenting the Kendall Inn, Josie’s on the Ridge and the Dakota.
Carl loved going to the races at Ransomville, Lancaster, Genesee and Perry Speedway. Halloween was his favorite. He would dress up in a costume and sit outside with the candy dish on his lap, scaring anyone he could. All the kids loved trick or treating at his house, because he always handed out the full-sized candy bars.
He will be remembered for making people laugh, being an instigator then sitting back and watching it all unfold and his big heart. He had strong family values and was very dedicated and loyal to his family. Carl was the biggest supporter in any activity they participate in; he truly loved his family and the time he spent with them.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his siblings Marsha (Purcil) Buzard, Carol (Charles) Buzard, Douglas; sister-in-law Mary Jane; brother-in-law Clifford Denton.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy (Rachel) VanOrden; granddaughter, Brooklyn; siblings, Helen Denton, Charles “Buck” (Peggy) VanOrden, Joyce (Albert “Tom”) Witt, Phillip (Joanne) VanOrden, Frances (John) McIlmurray, Kevin VanOrden, and William (Gretchen) VanOrden; his Bonus Girls, Diane, Beth (Carl) and Angela (Jason) as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
His Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, September 27th, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hamlin Beach State Park, Pavilion #1. Marcia Calarco

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marcia was a court stenographer for 28 years.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Nick Calarco; children, Michelle Calarco, Nick (Julie) Calarco, Frank (Michelle) Calarco, Vin (Jackie) Calarco and Paul (Kristen) Calarco; grandchildren, Eric Moore, Jake Moore, Nicholas Calarco, Natalie Calarco, Anthony Calarco, Olivia Calarco, Frankie Calarco, Vincent Calarco, Jr. and Brycen Calarco; sisters, Jean Wratney and Anne Moore and her beloved dog, Pokey.

Michael S. Jones, Sr.

He graduated from Medina High School in the class of 1974. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1974-81 where he served in Special Forces as a Green Beret.
Survivors include his wife, Candy Jones of Medina; three children, Charity (David) Garrow, Michael S. (Tracey) Jones, Jr. and Abbyleigh Osborne-Jones (fiancé, Brennen Harris); two grandchildren, Brooklyn and Nathan Garrow; a brother, Richard Jones (Doris Deboard); sister, Gail Rouse; sister in-law, Gail Jones (Mark) and several nieces and nephews. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Albert “Jimmy” Jones, Jr. and Robert Jones.
Military honors will be accorded on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, at 10 a.m. in Boxwood Cemetery. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held afterward from noon to 6 p.m. at 439 Howell Parkway, Medina. James F. Ruppel

Jim was a United States Veteran of the Korean War, and worked on the family farm prior to becoming a Steel Worker at Simonds Saw and Steel. He ultimately retired from the Town of Royalton. Jim was a 30-plus year member of the Gasport Chemical Hose Company, was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed many things including: camping, traveling, gambling, all kinds of music and classic cars. He was also a devoted Notre Dame fan. Above all, Jim was a family man and his grandchildren were everything to him.
Mr. Ruppel was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Betty; sons: Jeffrey Lynn Ruppel and Daniel James Ruppel; and all his siblings.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Ted) Cloy and JoAnne (Matt) Ruppel-Frawley; grandchildren, Erin Marie Ruppel, Lynnell (Eric) Schreiber, Stephanie (Cody) Mangalsingh, Daniel (Lauren) Ruppel II, Jonathan Ruppel, Donald (Haylee) Cloy II and Vandra Ruppel; great-grandchildren, Lacey and Connor Schreiber, Cecilia Urena, Grant and Arianna Mangalsingh, Aubrey and Paytinn Cloy, Zoey and Carter Ruppel; several nieces and nephews as well as close friends, Mike and Mary Farina and Lou and Donna Reale.

Jeffrey V. List

Jeff was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman, a practicing taxidermist, enjoyed his motorcycles and was a tattoo enthusiast.
Mr. List was predeceased by his daughter Tami List.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Pamela; his son, Jeffrey (Pam) List Jr. of Batavia; his brothers: Clint List, Curt List and sister Lonnie all of Greece; his 2 granddaughters: Kate and Erin; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Michael J. Wolski
Michael J. Wolski, 68, passed away on Sept. 4, 2020. Michael was born on March 11, 1952 to Eugene and Virginia (Kozlowski) Wolski in Buffalo, N.Y.
Michael graduated from Barker High School in 1971. He attended BOCES, where he obtained a trade degree in electricity. Michael worked for over 20 years at Trek Inc. in Medina, where he met his wife, Linda. Michael enjoyed hunting and farming on his property in Barker. He was an avid Yankees fan who enjoyed watching the games with his children. Michael spent many years coaching softball and took pride in coaching his daughters.
Michael was married to Linda Wolski on Sept. 20, 1986. They were approaching their 34th wedding anniversary. Michael cherished time with his family, including his many nieces and nephews. Everyone who knew Michael remembers him as an avid storyteller who could fill a room with laughter.
Michael is survived by his wife, Linda; and his daughters, Kari (Roger) Jones and Jessie (Benjamin) Birch. He was a loving grandfather to his only grandson, Brock Birch. He is also survived by his four sisters, Elizabeth (William) Ryan, Pamela (Chris) Stratton Sr., Laurie (Vince) Hetrick and Judi Thilk; and his sisters-in-law, Patricia (Brian) Albone and Carlene (Larry) Stockwell.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Virginia Wolski.

Earl W. Yaeger
Earl W. Yaeger went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 13, 2020. He was born in Batavia on March 20, 1948 to the late Earl and Arlene (Covid) Yaeger.
He attended Pembroke Central High School and then went on to serve his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. He worked for many years at FMC in Middleport. Earl was a member of the Medina VFW post and a proud member of the Patriot Guard. He enjoyed deer hunting and golf. When he was able, he loved to ride his Harley. Earl will be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving soul.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Roxanna (Franke) Yaeger; two sons, Eric Yaeger and James (Grace) Cassett; three grandchildren, Nicole, James and Jarred; a brother, Doug (Carol Sue) Yaeger; his former wife, Linda Yaeger; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at the convenience of the family.

Glenn A. Stalker

He graduated from Lyndonville High School in the class of 1950. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and he proudly served his country in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954.
Shortly after returning from the war, he married the love of his life, the former Emily Sledzik, on May 29, 1954. The couple made their home in Medina and raised a family of three children, Lorie, Carol and Christine. Mr. Stalker had a 23-year career with Phinney Tool & Die and then at E&M Enterprise, retiring in 1988.
Glenn loved sports. He played for the MAAC football team from 1954 to 1958. He was also an avid tennis player. He and his friend, Milford Phinney, played every morning from the time the nets were put up in the spring until they were taken down in the fall. Glenn also played on the Sacred Heart baseball team and enjoyed bowling and softball. One of his other ventures was as a pilot, attaining his small craft license in the 1970s.
He was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church and Holy Trinity R.C. Parish in Medina. Active in the community, Mr. Stalker was a member of the Village of Medina Board of Trustees from 1970 to 1982 and was involved in the Citizens’ Party. He also served as Deputy Mayor. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Club, Butts-Clark Post #204 American Legion, and Medina Council #651 Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Stalker was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Emily M. Stalker, on June 24, 2019; his grandson, Sgt. Trevor T. Cook, USMC, on July 6, 2011; four brothers, George, Wayne (June), Don, and Alan (June) Stalker; and sister, Mildred (Paul) Bane.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lorie (Bob) Gilligan, Carol (David) Cook and Christine Barone; five grandchildren, Lisa Marciniak, Jessica Balcer, Chelsea Cook (Keegan Jenks), Andrea (Joe) Baldi and Alyssa (Chris) Kragor; four great-grandchildren, Keirha Marciniak, Morgan Balcer, Joseph and Renzo Baldi; his brother, Richard (Linda) Stalker; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held Sat., Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity R.C. Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. He will be laid to rest at a future date, alongside his wife at Sacred Heart Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by members of Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion and Lincoln Post #1483, VFW.

Irene B. Smith

Irene retired in 1993 from the Orleans County Nursing Home, where she was a cook. She loved to cook, garden, bake, play bingo, and crochet. Above all, Irene loved her family, especially during the holidays when everyone was together.
Irene is predeceased by her husband, Richard Smith; daughters, Mary O. Smith and Martha Atkins; son, James Smith; brothers, William Gadway and Robert Goodwin; and sisters, Emma Clark, Ethel Youngs and Violet Bennet.
She is survived by her children, Richard Smith, Sue Smith (Ron Roth), Dennis (Tammy) Smith and Betty Ann (Lonnie) Froman; daughter-in-law, Sharon Smith; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Donna M. Bowen

She was a librarian at SUNY Brockport for many years, and she also taught ceramics. Donna was a foster parent to many children, and she loved gardening, cooking, and all animals, especially her parrot. Donna also volunteered at the Animal Service League and enjoyed watching the golden oldies on TV. Donna will be remembered for her kind and caring nature, and for being willing to help anyone in need.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roy.
Donna is survived by her son, Jason (Crystal) Bowen; grandchildren, Jared, Chelsea, Cassidy, Chloe, Cheyanne and Clarissa; aunt, Grace Bingamon; sister-in-law, Charlene Bowen; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert George Dexter

Bob was known by many in the community as a social butterfly who was always willing to volunteer wherever he could. He really loved his sweets, never complained about anything, and was always willing to give advice, when he could oftentimes be heard saying, “bottom line is.” Bob served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1969, served as a Scoutmaster for many years, and was proud of his green belt in Isshin-Ryu karate. Bob was very proud of receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from the Clarendon Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons-in-law, Wayne Pocza and James Kipler.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Pamela; children, Lisamarie Pocza, Bobby (Kimberly) Dexter, Amber (Chris Miller) Kipler, Meghan Cox and Stephanie Cox; grandchildren, Thomas, Rebecca (Shane), Isabella (fiancé Jordan), Rosalynn, Dalton, Clayton and Abigail; great-granddaughter, Sophia; special cousin, Buzzy Gertzen; as well as countless friends.
There are no calling hours. Bob’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Fri., Sept. 18 at Holy Family Parish – St. Joseph’s Church, W. Sandra Ann Gress
Sandra Ann Gress passed away on Wed., Sept. 16, 2020.
She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Gress; devoted mother of Michelle (Andy Sr.) Wojtulski, Jeffrey (Judy) Gress Sr., and Lynnette (Paul) Stiglmeier; loving grandmother of Alyssa (Nate) Ritzenthaler, Andrew Wojtulski Jr., Michael (Kori) Chuchla, Antoinette Gress, Jeffery Jr. Gress, Kate Stiglmeier and Jack Stiglmeier; fond great-grandmother of Evelyn Chuchla and Nora Chuchla; and dearest sister of Tony (late Peggy) Marcinelli and the late Paul (Ruth) Marcinelli. Florence Fletcher Ehrenreich
Florence Fletcher Ehrenreich, 86, of Hickory, N.C., passed away peacefully on Sept. 12, 2020. She was born Jan. 29, 1934 in Medina to the late Harry and Beatrice Fletcher. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Garry Charles Ehrenreich; and her brother, Clayton Fletcher.
Florence lived in the Medina area for many years and was truly devoted to her husband, Garry, and to her twin sons, Scott and Todd. Later in life, Florence and Garry moved to North Carolina to be near their sons. She enjoyed playing bingo and softball, and sharing a cup of coffee with her friends. Following her sons’ school activities was the highlight of her life.
Left to cherish her memory are twin sons, Scott and Todd (Donna); granddaughter, Emily Ehrenreich of Hickory; and sisters, Shirley Mank of Lyndonville and Mary Hall of Medina.

Albertina Salvo
Albertina Salvo, 100, of Baltimore, Md., Naples, Fla. and most recently Lyndonville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sept. 13, 2020.
Albertina is survived by her loving daughter, Carole Michel; her adoring grandsons, Ed (Lee) and Jeff (Kathryn); her great-grandchildren, Steve and Sean; her best friend and sister, Charlotte Turner; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and acquaintances.
She is predeceased by her parents, Fredrick and Amelia (Wuntz) Loeffler; her husband, Sam Salvo; her sister, Lillian; and her brothers, Carl and Frederick.
Albertina was a breath of fresh air everywhere she went and to all those who knew her. She had a
passion for gardening and walked four miles a day right up until March of this year. She was a great card player, and she loved to laugh. Albertina’s infectious love of life was evident to all. She was a beautiful spirit who was much loved by her family. Albertina’s wit and intellect will be greatly missed.

Martha L. Schwartz
Martha L. (née Wolfe) Schwartz, of Gasport, entered into rest on Aug. 27, 2020 at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was 84 years old.
Born in Middleport on March 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Wolfe. She graduated from Royalton-Hartland Central School in 1954. She was an active member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and she loved sharing her faith with others. She will forever be remembered for her generous hospitality, her beautiful piano playing, her delicious cookies, and her deep love for her God, Jehovah, and for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Howard; her three children, Mark (Jacklyn) Schwartz, Ronald (Cheri) Schwartz, and Lisa (Matthew) Galyardt; her two granddaughters, Julie (Michael) Johnston and Lindsay (Jared) Darker; two great-grandsons, Jase Morton and the late Alexander Johnston; her sister, Shirley (Leonard) Rosselli; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gordon Lee Miller

Gordon lived most of his life in the Knowlesville-Medina area and spent many years working on various farms, including the Chaffee Farm, the Knights Farm and, lastly, the LaMont Farm, owned by Roger LaMont at that time. After putting aside farm work, he began driving for the local Amish community, including Ivan Yoder, Vernon Yoder and, lastly, Steven Miller.
Besides his love of farming and driving, he loved sharing the last 30 years of his life with his friend, soulmate and wife, Debra (Hickey) Miller. He also loved spending time with his children, Mark (Sandra) Miller of Wilson, Devon (Jeff) Budziszewski of Barker, Heidi (Rob) Suckar of Bellefonte, Pa., Mark Hickey and his partner, Jenna Balog of Medina, and Matthew Hickey of Palm Springs, Calif.; his grandchildren, Taylor, Jarrett, Emilee, Dominic, Owen, Malachi, Noah, Nicholas and Lillianna; and his expected great-grandchild, Zaydrain. He is also survived by his siblings, Ed (Shirley) Miller of Indianapolis, Ind., Roxanne Culmo of Holley, and Lyle (Nancy) Miller of Livonia; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Elizabeth Houseman; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Robert Miller, Darlene Rossi, Francis Miller, Linda Miller, Ruth Ann Davis, Sharon Otero and Ronald Miller; a brother-in-law, Joe Culmo; and a sister-in-law, Cathy Miller.

Jeffery L. Pask

Jeff was a graduate of Albion High School and, after graduation, joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he began working for the NYS Department of Transportation Highway Department in Albion, and he worked there for 31 years before retiring. Jeff was a member of the St. Mary’s Archer’s Club, the Albion American Legion and the Albion VFW, where he served as past Commander. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, riding motorcycles, and playing lotto, quick draw and scratch-off lottery tickets.
Jeff fought many years to bravely overcome his illness and never gave up. He will surely be missed. Rest well and feel whole, and be well now and forever.
Mr. Pask was predeceased by his father, Russell M. Pask; his mother, Mabel W. Haskell Pask; and his youngest sister, Donna M. Pask.
He is survived by his eldest sister, Sharon L. Pask Engert of Fancher; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; his ex-wife, Debbie; son, Jeremy; and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Fri., Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, where his funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. following visitation. Face coverings will be required for entering the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Anita J. Piedimonte

Anita was a member of St. Mary’s Church, S.L.I.M., Holley Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and Murray-Holley Historical Society, and she volunteered for many years at St. Rocco’s Festival.
She was predeceased by her husband, James “JP” Piedimonte; brothers, Frank, John, Alfred and Dominic; sisters, Angelina D’Andrea, Elvira Stanley, Rosemary Carr and Louise Falkenbury.
Anita is survived by her sons, Dennis Piedimonte, Anthony (Lorraine) Piedimonte and Kevin (Anne) Piedimonte; daughter-in-law, Cindy Piedimonte; grandchildren, Jaime (Scott) Piedimonte-Bennett, Jeana (Patrick) Hayes, Jessica, Katie, Eric (Brianne) Piedimonte, Matthew (Meaghan), Michael and Nicholas; proud Nana to six great-granddaughters; brothers, Louis (Catherine), Faust (Judy), Robert (Teresa) and Joseph (Mary Ellen); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anita’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary R.C. Church on Tue., Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.

Robert E. Kester

Robert had been a member of Middleport United Methodist Church since he moved to Middleport in 1977. Robert joined the Middleport Fire Department on July 10, 1978. He served as the fire department’s chaplain and fire police.
Robert was predeceased by his wife, Gail Kester, in May 2020.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Michael) Braun of Sarasota, Fla., R. Sean (Paula) Kester of Sarasota, and Robin (Tom) Greg of Doylestown, Pa.; stepchildren, Charlene (Kenny) Heschke of Gasport and Yvonne (Christopher) Lane of Lockport; grandchildren, Jacqueline Braun, Corey (Alicia) Martin, Adam Braun, Andrea (Tina) Braun, Julia Braun, Olivia Kester, Solenne Greg, Seth Lane and Roman Greg; a sister, Suzanne Kester; a brother, Paul (Lori) Kester; a niece, Kaitlyn (Vince) Cherry; a nephew, Jeffrey (Kristina) Kester; a sister-in-law, Jean Vandenberghe (Barbara Branski); several cousins; and many friends in the community, fire department and church family.
A private interment will take place at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life for Bob and Gail will be held at a later date.

Patricia Ann Scholze
Patricia Ann Scholze, 73, of Holley, passed away Sept. 5, 2020. She was born Oct. 8, 1946 in Batavia to the late Mike and Carolyn (Root) Gray.
Patricia worked for several years as a teacher’s aide at Brockport Central Schools. She was very artistic and enjoyed spending her free time painting. Patricia really loved watching her grandchildren in their activities and spending time with them.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John, on Dec. 27, 2019; and her stepfather, William R. Stiewe II.
Patricia is survived by her son, Bryan (Tracy) Scholze; grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Nathaniel; brother, Mike (Cindee) Gray; stepbrother, William R. (Sue) Stiewe III; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services for Patricia will be announced at a later date.
