Liston B. “Benny” Robertson, 87, of Waterport died Oct. 2, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Batavia.  He was born May 3, 1934 in Clarendon, a son of the late Frederick G. and Zola V. (Ward) Robertson and had lived in this area all of his life.

 Benny served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW and the D.A.V.  He loved to hunt, fish and being outdoors. 

 In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Frederick H. Robertson and his sister Joyce (Louis) Charles.  He is survived by his children: Courtney Robertson, Christopher Hafner, Jack (Christina) Robertson, Jada (Tom) Burgess, Paul H. Robertson; grandchildren: T.J. Burgess, Mallory Robertson, Jillian Robertson, Shawn Robertson, Dana Burns; sister, Sandra (Joe) Sacco; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Magdaline “Midge” Jenks (Comden), 82, of Holley passed away Oct. 3, 2021 after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer. 

Midge was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Sadie Salerno. 

Midge is survived by her children: Kevin (Abby), David (Dawn), and Vickie Comden; grandchildren: Kelly (Radames), Brandon (Gailyn), Carter (Rachel), and Cole (Lanie); great-granddaughter, Sophia; the father of her children, Francis (Linda) Comden; and many dear friends. 

Midge was a loving mother and grandmother. She had many friends and a great sense of humor. She was a big fan of the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, and Syracuse basketball. 

A celebration of Midge’s life will be held at the Brockport Area Vets Club, 222 West Ave., Brockport, NY 14420 on Sat., Oct. 9 from 3-5 p.m. Those wishing are invited to make a donation to the Eastern Orleans Community Center, Community Action of Orleans/Genesee, 409 State St., Albion, NY 14411.

Dona M. Seitzer, 77, entered into Heaven on Sun., Oct. 3, 2021 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, following a brief illness.

Dona was born on April 30, 1944 in Williamsport, PA, a daughter of the late Lester L. and Dorothy (Robbins) Seitzer. She graduated from Medina High School in 1963. Dona worked as a customer service representative first for Marine Midland and then HSBC Bank in Medina, retiring after 22 years. She was a longtime active member of the United Methodist Church of the Abundant Harvest in Knowlesville. Dona was a member of the United Methodist Women of Knowlesville and also belonged to the Moose Club. She loved to crochet, do ceramics and was an avid reader.

Dona was preceded in death by her son, Mario Fidanza in 2012; granddaughter, Michaela Fidanza in 2009; and brothers: Donald “Lee” Seitzer, Frank “Butch” Seitzer and Paul Seitzer.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Michael Fidanza, Tina (Michael) Davey and Katie (Eric) Taylor; ten grandchildren: Edith Fidanza, David Davey, Amber (Robert) Davey, Brandi Davey Ottaviano, Dylan Davey, Harley Fidanza, Mario Fidanza, Jr., Lena Young, Cody Taylor and Tricia Taylor; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Seitzer-Scott; also many nieces and nephews.

An hour of visitation will be held on Fri., Oct. 8 from 10-11 a.m. with her memorial service immediately to follow at 11 a.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Rev. Garry McCaffery, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Abundant Harvest will officiate. Interment will be in Bates Road Cemetery. Masks will be mandatory.

Beverly Jean Gregoire, 83 of Greece, passed away on Sept. 30, 2021 at her home with her loving children Mark and Michelle at her side. 

Beverly, also known as Jean, was born in Rochester on May 28, 1938 to Rhinehart and Mary Lockamyier. She was predeceased by her husband Jacques Gregoire in 2015. 

Beverly is survived by her children: Mark (Kellie) Gregoire and Michelle (Steve) Cagnina. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rachel, Jacques, William, Grace, Luke, and Sadie Gregoire.

Leonard S. Radzinski, a longtime resident at Cloverhill Adult Home, Albion, passed away at Orleans Community Health on Oct. 3, 2021 after a prolonged battle of health issues. 

He was born Feb. 15, 1933, son of Stanley J. and Veronica Noreck Radzinski. Leonard is predeceased by sister, Genevieve R. Wolffe; and niece Carol Wolffe Fortunato. 

Len is survived by his devoted sister, Barbara R. (Ronald) Armstrong; nephews: Richard (Wanda) Armstrong, R. Scott (Christine) Armstrong; nieces: Julie Armstrong Dennis, Nancy Wolffe Ebbs, Sharon Wolffe Ludwick; Godchild, Judy Wolffe Soto and their children.

Leonard joined the Army after graduating from Albion High and served until 1953. He was stationed at SHAPE Headquarters in Paris for most of his tour and loved traveling Europe. Rochester Business Institute was next to tweak his outstanding stenographic skills which he used as case clerk in the New York State Court of Claims, Albany, until his retirement.

He enjoyed playing cards the most, viewing televised football and baseball, doing crossword puzzles, recording and playing his 50s music. He looked forward to class reunions and always welcomed sunshine.

No visitation will be held. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Brown Rd., Albion, NY. Memorials may be directed to any Hospice.

Sandra L. (Oliver) Durrant, 77, of Medina, NY passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2021, in Buffalo, NY.

Sandra was born in Buffalo, NY on Dec. 17, 1943. She retired from Medina Memorial Hospital where she worked in Housekeeping.

She was predeceased by her parents: Charles and Marion (Richter) Oliver and brothers: Charles W. Oliver and Thomas J. Oliver. She is survived by her son, Kenneth and (Karen) Oliver; brother, Paul and (Roberta) Oliver; sister-in-law Karen Oliver; grandchildren: Steven Oliver, Trey and Ashleigh Stornelli; great-grandchildren: Steele and Amelia Oliver, Elliana Stornelli and Iziah; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Muqit A. Sabur, 78, of Cleveland, OH, entered into rest on Wed., Sept. 29, 2021 at the University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center, Cleveland.

S. Isabelle Schultz (Bauer) (King), 100, of Middleport died Sept. 30, 2021 while at the Supportive Care of Orleans Martin Linsin Hospice Residence in Albion.  She was born April 16, 1921 in the Town of Hartland to James and Annie (Annable) Noble and was a life-long resident of this area.  

Isabelle was a 70-year member of the Middleport United Methodist Church where she chaired the Harvest Dinner for over 30 years.  She was an expert knitter, having taught knitting at the Niagara County Cooperative Extension for many years.  She shared that talent with the community by making countless premie caps, lap robes, hats and mittens for hospitals and charities over the years.  Isabelle was also a member of the Middleport and Johnson Creek Senior Citizen groups, as well as being a life member and volunteer driver for Tri Town Ambulance.  

Mrs. Schultz was predeceased by husbands: Emory Bauer, Robert King, Donald Schultz; daughter, Diane (Bauer) Grove; brothers: Walter, Donald and Frank Noble; and sisters: Lulla Timblin and Daryl Wobbes.  

She is survived by her children: Mary Ann Bauer, William (Mary Jane) Bauer, Susan Webber, Sharon Kusmierczak, Steven (Susan) King; sister, Betty Lockie; son-in-law, Ted Grove; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, Tue., Oct. 5 from 1-3 p.m. where her funeral service will be held following visitation at 3 p.m.  Private interment will be in Hartland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Willows, 459 E. Rose Burgio Cardone, “canonized” St. Rose of Ridgeway by a law partner of her late beloved husband, Vincent, passed away peacefully at the home of her devoted daughter Renee and son-in-law Terry on Sept. 28, 2021 at age 97.

She was born in Albion, NY on April 2, 1924, the youngest of three children of Joseph and Antonina Sala Burgio, who had emigrated from Italy.  After graduating from high school in Albion, Rose attended Highland Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a practicing RN for a short time before marrying and starting her family.  She participated faithfully in the national Nurses’ Health Study from its inception until her death.

Rose was a warm, loving and attentive wife and mother to six children.  Family and friends were always welcome at the raucous home on Telegraph Road where she and Vincent raised their family.

When the nest was empty, Rose helped supervise the clubhouse at Harbour Pointe Golf Course, the family business.  She wintered in Florida, where she also held open house for family and friends, for almost 40 years.

Gardening, Scrabble, and tuning in to Wheel of Fortune, where she loved to see Vanna White’s wardrobe, were pastimes when Rose could find a few minutes to herself.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Samuel and Frances, and her husband of over 60 years.  She is survived by six children: Rosalind Lind (Charles), Renee (Terry Winegar), Dominic, Kathleen (Bruce Neugebauer), Joseph (Jenifer) and Michael (Kathleen); 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Jean Cardone; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service.

Relatives and friends are invited to share stories of how Rose touched their lives at a reception starting at 12 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 16 at the Medina Theatre, 603 Main St., Medina.

Donald D. Maddocks, 88, of Greece, NY, entered into rest on Wed., Sept. 29, 2021 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina.

Born Oct. 28, 1932 in Little Falls, NY, he was a son of the late Orin and Mildred (Winchel) Maddocks. He was a graduate of Dolgevill High School and went on to service in the U.S. Navy from 1951-55. He married the former Elizabeth A. Hertweck on Feb. 2, 1955. Don worked as a supervisor at Eastman Kodak for many years, retiring in 1983.

Predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Maddocks in 2019; and a brother, David Maddocks.

Survivors include six children: Daniel (Kathy) Maddocks, James (Lisa) Maddocks, Kathleen (Marc) Schriber, Timothy Maddocks, Susan Maddocks and Laura (Mike) McKissock; a brother, Dayton (Martha) Maddocks; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey Fox, 47, entered into rest on Sept. 20, 2021, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at his home in North Port, Fla.  Born on May 21, 1974 he grew up in Medina, the son of Carol and John Fox Sr. and graduated from Medina High School in 1992.  In August 2000 he married the love of his life, Landa (McCauley) Fox and they were so very happily married for 21 years.  In 2009 he and his family moved to North Port, Florida.  

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Landa (née McCauley); son, Brayden; daughter, Madison; mother, Carol Fox; brothers and their wives: John & Apryl, Tom & Jill, and Aric & Emily; as well as his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins from Jeff’s hometown of Medina. He was predeceased by his father, John Fox, Sr.

Jeff was an Electrical Supervisor for Bartelt ProMach. He had many talents, including photography and cooking, and loved to travel as much as possible visiting many European Countries. He had an impeccable sense of humor and went above and beyond for his loved ones. Jeff was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.  He was a kind and caring person and even as he fought his own battle, he reached out to others who were on this same journey and offered his support and encouragement to them.  He made everyday life an adventure for his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Justin Maurell “Philly Phil“ “Cap” Johnson, 29, of Decatur, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Sat., Sept. 18, 2021.

Born on Feb. 19, 1992 in Medina, NY, he was the loving son of Justin J. and Lesley (Riley) Johnson.

Justin excelled playing for the Medina Mustangs, #1 Jersey in Football and graduated from Medina High School in 2011. After graduating from high school, he was employed at Brunner International, Associated Brands and Orleans Pallet Company. In 2020, he moved to Decatur, Ga. to be close to his mother and was working as a Supervisor of FedEx. He enjoyed football and was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. Justin was always fly on the latest fashions and wore all the current trends. Above all, Justin was a devoted and loving father to his three children.

Justin is survived by his parents, Justin J. (Laylanny) Johnson of Haughton, La. and Lesley Kamal (Khabeer) Johnson of Decatur, Ga.; grandfathers: Willie Riley, and Alan Johnson; grandmother, Katherine Johnson; his loving companion, Ebony Taylor; children: Justin Maurell “Scoop” Johnson Jr., Jaelle Johnson and Jaceon Johnson; siblings: Justice “Alex” Johnson, Kyla Johnson, Tevin Johnson, Taj Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson, and Justin Johnson; uncles: Willie Riley, Trey (Erin) Johnson, and Dion Johnson. Beverly J. Porter, 85, of Lyndonville, entered into rest on Wed., Sept. 29, 2021 at Medina Memorial Hospital, North Wing Skilled Nursing Facility.

Born Dec. 31, 1935 in Barker, NY Beverly was a daughter of the late Lewis “Buster” and Blanche (Mohn) Brown. She married William Porter on Sept. 11, 1954. Beverly worked as head bookkeeper for Crosby-Whipple Oil Corp. in Lyndonville for many years. She was a quiet person who had a loving heart for all animals, especially her cats.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori (Kirk) Myhill of Shelby; grandson, Justin (Courtney) Myhill; granddaughter, Erika Myhill (fiancé, Dalton VerCruysse); great-grandson, Lincoln Myhill; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was predeceased by her husband, William on Aug. 3, 1994; and an infant son.

An hour of calling will be held on Fri., Oct. 8 from 5-6 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where her funeral will immediately follow at 6 p.m. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport. Flowers are respectfully declined. Arnold E. Herdendorf, 69, of Lockport passed away suddenly Sept. 22, 2021 as the result of a traffic accident.  Arnold was born in Albion, NY Sept. 7, 1952, the son of the late LeRoy and Betty (Brundish) Herdendorf.  

Arnold served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.  He was a former employee of Sunset Drive-In and Waterport Lawn and Garden.  Arnold enjoyed talking to friends and making people laugh. 

He was predeceased by his brother, James and sister Sharon Ashworth.  He is survived by his brothers: David of Cabor, AK and Michael of Little Rock, AK; niece, Brandi Lynn of Newfane.

James Eugene Jett Sr., 75, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family.

James was born in Parkersburg, WV on June 1, 1946 to the late John D. and Glenna M. Jett. He was the husband of the late Ardith Jett until her passing in February 2021. He worked for Flower City Tissue Mills for over 40 years, and operated a water hauling business in Kendall, NY.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Ardith, and his siblings, Harold, Rick, Shirley, and Rose.

He is survived by his children, James (Imelda) Jett Jr., Timothy (Kelly) Jett, Wendy (David) Haralambou, and Kristy Jett, his siblings, John D. Jett, Edward Jett, and Sue Fearing, his seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

ALBION – Philip L. Gurnsey, 59, passed unexpectedly at ECMC September 24, 2021 after a short illness. He was born February 20, 1962 to Carl and Carolyn (Dawson) Gurnsey in Albion, N.Y.

Phil had lived in this area his whole life. After graduation from Albion High School in 1980, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy for three years. He was stationed aboard the USS American Aircraft Carrier as a boilerman.

Phil loved his sports. In High School he played baseball and wrestled. Later, he again played baseball and also golf. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Green Bay Packers, and Buffalo Bills. Phil was a long-time member of the Brockport Elks Lodge #2110. He had many skills, including carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Phil worked at several good jobs in Rochester and Batavia.

Phil is survived by his parents, Carl and Carolyn; his 2 sons, Jacob B. Gurnsey of S. Carolina and Ryan L. Gurnsey of Albion; brother, Randy (Nina) Gurnsey; sisters, Sandra (Marvin) Dawley and Suzanne (Todd Grimes) Fugate, all of Albion; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

LYNDONVILLE – Chris L. “Papa Smurf” Amsdill, 58, of Lyndonville, NY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at his home. Born on May 21, 1963 in Medina, he was the son of the late Gordon H. and Cecelia G. Gozdowiak.

Chris grew up and worked on the Amsdill family farm and will be remembered as a hard worker, working from sunup to sundown.  Chris was a former member of the FFA and a current member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, but most of all, Chris enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and neighbors.

Chris is survived by his wife, Susan M. Durow-Amsdill; children, Jonathan (Rebecca White) Amsdill and Donald (Stephanie) Durow; siblings, Ann (Kenneth) Nice of Knowlesville, Joan Prahler of Medina and Catharine (Timothy) Beiersdof of Lyndonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Chris is predeceased by a brother, Gordon H. Amsdill Jr.

Ann Scharping Rohland, 89, of Holley passed away peacefully on Sept. 21, 2021 in Elderwood of Brockport with her daughters by her side. 

Ann graduated from Holley High School and attended Rochester Business Institute and retired from SUNY Brockport. She was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Jewell Buckman American Legion Auxiliary, was an expert knitter and seamstress and loved doing crossword puzzles. Ann was a diehard Buffalo Bills, NY Yankees and Syracuse Basketball fan and loved her family. She was a strong woman who wasn’t afraid to voice her opinion and truly enjoyed hosting large family dinners and holidays. 

She was predeceased by her parents: Vernon and Catharine (Hurd) Scharping; husband, Ronald Rohland, whom she was married to for 56 year; and brother, Richard Scharping. 

She is survived by her daughters: Pamela Geraci and Roxann (Bob) Taylor; brother, James Scharping; grandchildren: Arica (Dave) Morrill, William “Billy” Herring, Allison (Mike) Rhodes, Ashley Taylor and Robby (Erin) Taylor; great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Jessica Morrill, Madisyn, Hudson and Elodie Taylor; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 There will be no calling hours. Ann’s services will be held privately at a later date in Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
