Wildcats roll to win over Purple Eagles

Scoring a quick touchdown on the first possession, Depew went on to down host Albion 49-6 in a B3 Division game this evening.

The Wildcats, which are now 2-0, led 34-0 at the half.

Albion’s touchdown came on a 70 yard Jonah Elsenheimer to Peyton Robinson touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

Now at 0-2, Albion next hosts Maryvale at 7 p.m. next Friday.

Akron 42, Roy-Hart/Barker 14

Akron improved to 2-0 in C North Division competition by downing visiting Roy-Hart/Barker 42-14.

Tysen McCaa completed two touchdown passes to Braden Ricker for Roy-Hart/Barker.

On defense for the Bulls, Jackson West had 15 tackles, a sack, a blocked kick and a forced fumble.

Holley and Kendall girls post G-R soccer wins

Holley and Kendall both scored shutout victories in Genesee Region League girls soccer competition this evening.

Kendall blanked Notre Dame 4-0 to improve to 3-0 as Ava LaMay, Ryleigh Denning, Sophia Picardo and Stella Kwiatek each scored a goal. Picardo also had 2 assists as Denning and Brynn Hardenbrook each had 1.

Holley shutout Lyndonville/Barker 6-0 to go to 3-1 as Ava Mosier had 3 goals, Alivia Wolf 2 and Jayna Burris 1.Wolf and Mia Thom each had 2 assists and Brynn Thomas and Brianna Tomasino each had 1.

Panthers score C North win over Mustangs

A quick two touchdown first quarter scoring burst sparked Newfane to a 23-6 in over Medina in a C North Division game at Vets Park this evening.

The Panthers jumped out to a early 16-0 lead as Mac Capen ran 10 yards for one touchdown and Ayden Buttery returned an interception 35 yards for another. Capen and Camio Flowers both added two-point conversions.

The Panthers other score came on a 1 yard TD run by Khalil Golden on the first play of the final period.

Medina averted the shutout as quarterback Preston Woodworth connected with Jerrell Nealy on a 23 yard touchdown pass with 2:58 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The C North loss was Medina’s first in five seasons of competition in the division. The Mustangs were 20-0 in the division going into tonight’s contest.

The Panthers are now 1-0 in the division and 2-0 overall while the Mustangs slip to 1-1 in C North competition.

Albion, Barker, R-H score golf wins

Albion and Barker both picked up forfeit wins in Niagara-Orleans League golf matches this afternoon.

Albion evened its record at 3-3 by besting Newfane and Barker improved to 3-2 by downing Wilson.

Drew Pritchard shot 46 and Oliver Beach and Viktor Snyder both added 49’s for Albion as Newfane’s Caleb Rivera took medalist honors with a 45.

Tristan Garcia had a 49 to lead Barker as Wilson’s Ben Meyers took medalist honors with a 46.

In the other N-O match Roy-Hart downed Medina 223-264.

Evan Poeller took medalist honors for Roy-Hart with a 40 as Gavin Heideman added a 42 and Isaac Smith and Blake Snell both added 45’s.

For Medina, Ryleigh Culver shot 41 and Cam Fike 47.

Hawks host new foe in football home opener

Looking to keep the momentum of the come-from-behind season opening road win over Bolivar-Richburg, Holley will host new foe Newfield from Section IV in a non league 8 Man football game at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Quarterback Destin Kuyal threw for 4 touchdowns and ran for 2 more to lead Holley to the 48-30 win over Bolivar-Richburg as Vinny Golisano caught 3 of those TD aerials.

Trailing 24-16 when stormy weather halted play last Friday, the Hawks came rallying back when play resumed on Tuesday with a burst of four straight touchdowns to key the win.

Newfield will be looking to rebound from a 52-8 season opening loss to Section IV foe Groton.

Local trio playing at SUNY Morrisville

The lineups for the SUNY Morrisville fall teams includes a trio of local student/athletes.

Holley graduate Leigha Walker, who was a key member of the Lady Hawks state semifinal team last fall, is a freshman defender on the Morrisville women’s soccer team. She has started all four of the Mustangs games to date.

The Morrisville field hockey squad includes Medina grad Iyla Lilleby, who is a freshman midfielder/forward, and Roy-Hart grad Cayla Burch, who is a freshman goalie.

Kendall nips B-B in G-R boys soccer

A lone second half goal proved to be just enough to earn Kendall a narrow 1-0 win over host Byron-Bergen in a Genesee Region League boys soccer game this evening.

Pablo Rosario-Reyes scored the game winner for the Eagles off an assist from Jonathan Reyes.

Jonny Conte made 7 saves to earn the shutout in goal.

Kendall, which next visits Albion at 5 p.m. Saturday, improves to 2-0 in the league and 3-1 overall.

Medina and Albion score N-O soccer wins

Jumping out to a commanding 6-0 halftime advantage, Medina went on to defeat host Akron 8-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game this afternoon.

Cole Callard scored 3 goals and Tyler Kroening 2 to lead the Medina offense as Vinny Gray, Aleks Seefeldt and Cam Kenward each netted 1.

Callard also had 2 assists as Gray, Kroening, Jimmy Dieter, Luke Duffina and Caden Kingsbury each had 1.

The Mustangs improve to 2-0 in the league and 4-0 overall while Akron is 0-2 in N-O action.

Albion 5, Roy-Hart 1
Leo Bolton and David Rosario each scored 2 goals and Adrian Figueroa-Fuentes 1 to lead Albion to a 5-1 N-O win over visiting Roy-Hart.

Michael Fuller scored for Roy-Hart.

Albion is now 2-0 and Roy-Hart 0-2 in the league.

Wilson 8, Newfane 0
Wilson blanked rival Newfane 8-0 as Keegan Hermann scored 4 goals and Aidan Neumann 2.

The Lakemen are now 2-0 and the Panthers 0-2.

N-O Girls Soccer

Akron blanked host Medina 7-0 and Wilson downed rival Newfane 3-1 in N-O girls soccer action today.

N-O field hockey wins for Akron and Barker

Defending champion Akron blanked visiting Medina 3-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game this afternoon.

Mackenzie Tomporowski scored 2 goals and Julia Klodzinski 1 for the Lady Tigers as Marissa Brege made 3 saves in goal.

Akron is now 3-0 and Medina 0-1 in N-O action.

Barker 6, Kenmore 1
Breaking away from a 1-1 halftime deadlock, Barker erupted for five unanswered goals in the second half to down host Kenmore 6-1.

Madelina Pavlock had 4 goals and 2 assists and Ella Taylor 2 goals to lead the way for Barker which improves to 2-1.

The loss drops Kenmore to 0-2.

Elba spikers post win over Lyndonville

Lyndonville dropped a 25-14, 26-24, 25-13 decision to visiting Elba this evening in a Genesee Region League volleyball match.

Addie Dillenbeck had 5 aces and 3 digs, Madi Davis 3 aces, 1 kill and 2 blocks and Alyssa Prine 2 kills and 2 digs to lead the way for Lyndonville.

Leah Kenyon added 1 kill and 1 dig, Hannah Fox 1 ace and 7 assists, Elena Barry 1 kill, Emily Dill 3 digs, Hannah Marker 1 block, Grace Fox 4 digs, Olivia Belgiorno 1 kill and 1 block and Emma Freas 2 digs for the Lady Tigers.

Grace Fox and Leah Kenyon go for a service return for Lyndonville.
