First place will be on the line as Barker/Roy-Hart hosts Eden/North Collins in a key C North Division football game at 7 p.m. Friday at Barker.

Both teams are 2-0 in C North competition as Barker/Roy-Hart has defeated Akron 28-10 and Medina 29-22 while Eden/North Collins has downed Maritime 63-62 and JFK 43-14.

Overall, Eden/North Collins is 3-0 having also defeated Lake Shore 28-21 while Barker/Roy-Hart is 2-1 having lost 34-15 at Newfane in the season opener.

Statistics from the first three games show Friday’s contest should be a matchup of Eden/North Collins’s passing attack and Barker/Roy-Hart’s rushing attack.

To date 16 of the Raiders 19 touchdowns have come through the air while 8 of the Bulls 10 TDs have come on the ground.

The Raiders offense is led by quarterback Brady Waring who has thrown for 911 yards and 16 touchdowns. He has also rushed for a team leading 350 yards and 3 TDs. His favorite receiving targets have been the brother duo of Silas Nellis (29 receptions for 448 yards and 8 TDs) and Isaiah Nellis (14 for 350 and 7 TDs).

“They are a great passing team. They have the ability to strike quick. Our team needs to play sound defense and tackle well in space,” said Barker/Roy-Hart Coach Bill Bruning. “We look forward to the challenge.”

Five players have scored touchdowns for Barker/Roy-Hart including Joey Reiter (4), quarterback Tysen McCaa (2), Anthony Adinolfe (2), Vince Fazzio (1) and Owen Maedl (1).

Medina hosts JFK
Looking to get back onto the winning track and stay in the race for the C North Division title, Medina will host JFK at 7 p.m. Friday at Vets Park for Homecoming.

Medina, which dropped a 29-22 decision to Barker/Roy-Hart last week, is 1-1 in the division and 2-1 overall.

JFK is 0-1 in the division and 1-2 overall. The Bears have defeated St. Mary’s of Lancaster 28-6 and lost to Cattaraugus/Little Valley 28-12 and Eden 43-14 in a C North contest.

Offensively, Medina has been led by quarterback Preston Woodworth (636 yards passing and 6 touchdowns), running back Christian Moss (451 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns) and receiver Kolton Fletcher (15 receptions for 278 yards and 4 touchdowns).

Albion hosts Olean
Albion will be looking to snap a three game season opening losing streak as the Purple Eagles host Olean at 7 p.m. Friday in a B2 Division contest.

Having been involved in three close games to date, Olean is 1-1 in the division having defeated Maryvale 27-26 and lost to Depew 28-26. Overall the Huskies are 1-2 having also lost to Salamanca 19-13.

Holley hosts Cardinal O’Hara
It will be a rematch of the season opener as Holley hosts Cardinal O’Hara at 1 p.m. Saturday for Homecoming.

Holley, which is 0-3, lost to O’Hara 33-0 at Tonawanda in the season opener.

Kendall downed Lyndonville 7-2 and Holley bested Pembroke 5-1 in Genesee Region League boys soccer games this evening.

Jonathan Esposito scored 3 goals to lead the way for Kendall as Brandon Barrett, Pablo Rosario-Reyes, Dom Heirigs and Brenden Eichas each netted one.

Colton Smith and Amir Zimmerman each scored a goal for Lyndonville.

Kendall is now 6-0 in G-R action and 9-0 overall while Lyndonville is 4-3, 5-3.

Blake Coleman scored 2 goals for Holley as Cam Kelley, Avante Walker and Josh Silpoch each had 1.

Chase Kempa and Cam Mosier both had 2 assists and Tarek Garrhett 1 for the Hawks.

Holley is now 4-3 in G-R action.

Medina 1, Newfane 0
Medina edged Newfane 1-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League game at Vets Park this evening.

Luke Duffinia scored the Medina goal 12 minutes into the first half off an assist from Izzy Anderson.

Cam Fike earned the shutout in goal as Duffina, Ryan Pegelow, Owen Sargent and Jimmy Dieter anchored the defense.

Medina is now 4-1 in N-O action and Newfane 2-2-1.

Wilson 7, Akron 0
League leading Wilson stayed unbeaten at 5-0 with a 7-0 win over Akron (1-3) as Aidan Neumann scored the three goal hat-trick.

Albion edged visiting Depew 2-1 in a non league girls soccer game this evening.

Shayla Higgins scored off an assist from Ava Woolston and Julia Button scored from Brittany Lewis for the Purple Eagles.

Roy-Hart 1, Barker/Lyndonville 1

Roy-Hart and Barker/Lyndonville battled to a 1-1 tie in a Niagara-Orleans League game at Barker.

Maria Trombley scored for Roy-Hart off an assist from Kaylee Churchill and Alexa Robinson tallied for Barker/Lyndonville from Braelynn Dillenbeck.

Roy-Hart is now 4-1-1 and Barker/Lyndonville 3-1-2 in N-O action.

Newfane 9, Medina 0
Newfane bested visiting Medina 9-0 as Stephanie Chunco scored 4 goals, Kendall Jesson 2 and Jayde Jerge, Sophia Clare and Journee Hughey 1 each for Newfane.

Newfane is now 2-4 and Medina 0-4 in N-O competition.

Wilson 4, Akron 0
Front-running Wilson (5-0) downed Akron (2-3-1) 4-0 as Addison Elia scored 3 goals and Kylee Elia 1.

Earning league victory No. 1, Albion downed rival Medina 25-16, 17-25, 25-20 and 25-18 in a Niagara-Orleans volleyball match this evening at Albion.

Albion grabbed the opening set 25-16 as Jillian LeBaron had a run of six straight service points (15-20).

Medina knotted the match by taking the second set 25-17 as Madison Sanders served up points 2-5 and 15-20.

However, Albion regained the lead for good by taking the third set 25-20 as Anna Grillo served points 6-12 including four aces and LeBaron 21-24 including three aces.

The Purple Eagles then closed out the match by taking the fourth set 25-18.

Leading by narrow 18-16 margin, Albion locked up the win as Grillo had a kill for point 19, Madison Muckle an ace for point 20, Grillo an ace for point 24 and Melia Prince a kill for the set and match winning 25th point.

Medina had cut the deficit to 17-16 after a run of four straight service points by Maya Anderson the last two of which were polished off by kills by Heschke.

LeBaron finished with 10 kills, 8 aces and 28 digs, Grillo 7 aces and 30 digs, Alya Villaneuva 34 digs and Hanna Kumalac 18 assists.

Albion is now 1-4 and Medina 0-5 in N-O action.

Roy-Hart 25-25-25, Akron 18-14-20
Defending champion Roy-Hart improved to 5-0 with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 win over Akron which slips to 2-3.

Grace Pearl had 9 kills, Lauren Snyder 7 kills and Raegan Kern 6 kills for Roy-Hart.

Medina’s Maya Anderson tips the ball over the net as Alivia Dumrese (5) and Alya Villanueva (4) defend for Albion.

Albion’s Melia Prince sends the ball over the net as Karlee Cau defends for Medina.

Medina defeated Newfane 251-271 and Albion downed Wilson 233-257 in Niagara-Orleans League golf matches this afternoon.

Cam Fike shot 42, Max Pilon 45, Tyler Draper 47 and Jameson Pilon 48 for Medina which improves to 6-4.

Newfane’s Caleb Rivera took medalist honors with a 38.

Gavin Boyce and Nate Gibson both shot 44, Owen Spencer 46 and Luke Bedford 49 for Albion which is now 9-2.

Wilson’s Ben Meyers took medalist honors with a 37.

In the other match Barker edged Akron as Hudson Prynn led the way with a 44 and Lucas Nestoros added a 45.

Kendall edged past host Byron-Bergen 2-1 in a key Genesee Region League girls soccer clash of unbeatens this evening.

Sophia Picardo scored the game winner for Kendall.

Ryleigh Denning netted the Lady Eagles first goal off an assist from Jersie Drake.

Kendall is now 6-0 and Byron-Bergen 4-1 in G-R action.

Pulling away in the second half, Holley downed Notre Dame 4-1 in a Genesee Region League girls soccer game this evening at Holley.

Holley held a narrow 1-0 lead at the half on a goal by Ava Mosier assisted by Aiyana Stevens midway through the first 40 minutes.

The Lady Hawks then put a lock on the win with three second half goals, two by Mosier and one by Jayna Burris. Mia Thom, Brianna Tomasino and Kyla Burne all had assists during that stretch.

Holley is now 4-2-1 in G-R action.

Barker defeated Medina 16-46 and Albion 16-44 this afternoon to improve to 3-0 in Niagara-Orleans League boys cross-country competition.

Albion downed Medina 22-35 in the other portion of the meet to improve to 3-1.

Luke Fay led a quartet of Barker runners to cross the finish line first.

The Albion girls also improved to 3-1 by downing Barker 15-50 and Medina 22-36. Medina topped Barker 15-50 in the other portion of the meet.

Medina’s Talia Rupp won the race.

The Akron boys bested Roy-Hart 21-33 to go to 1-1 as the Tigers had the top three finishers in Quinn O’Malley, Logan Meyers and Aron Gehl.

Roy-Hart downed Akron in the girls race 22-33 to improve to 3-0.

Taylor Alvord and Julia Rohde finished 1-2 to Roy-Hart as Akron’s Abby Bower was third.

In the other N-O meet, Newfane downed rival Wilson 25-31 in the boys’ competition and 15-50 in the girls’.

Cam Fike took medalist honors with a 41 for Medina as Max Pilon added a 45 and Tyler Draper a 48.

Six players scored goals as Medina rolled to a 7-0 victory over Nardin in a non league field hockey game this afternoon.

Maggie Lonnen scored two goals for the Mustangs as Lila Class, Penelope Schalck, Malloree Rinker, Emi Batista and Savannah Jo Thompson each scored one.

Wilson 4, Roy-Hart 3
Wilson edged Roy-Hart 4-3 in a Niagara-Orleans League game as Taylor Ernest and Brynn Lepsch both scored two goals.

Savannah Newton scored two goals and Adella Dukes one for Roy-Hart.

Roy-Hart is now 2-3 and Wilson 2-4 in N-O action.
