Off to a strong start, Medina’s Melanie Green fired a 4 under par 68 today in the opening round of the Epson Tour’s Championship Tournament being played at Indian Wells, California.

Green registered five birdies on the day on 3, 4, 9, 10 and 13 and had just one bogey on 5.

When she finished her round Green was tied for 11th four shots back of the leader with a large portion of the field still on the course.

A two time winner on the season, Green entered the tourney as the Epson Tour’s season points leader.

The tourney continues on Friday and will conclude on Sunday.

Holley romped to an 8-0 victory over Pembroke in a Genesee Region League girls soccer game this evening.

Seven players contributed goals to the Lady Hawks offense as Mia Thom scored two and Ava Mosier, Mya Brown, Hanna Ostrom, Carsyn Mogle, Payton Preston and Jayna Burris each netted one.

Thom also had a pair of assists as Burris, Brynn Thomas, Kyla Burne and Addison Bevins each had one.

Zoey Warner made three saves to earn the shutout in goal.

The Lady Hawks improve to 6-2-1 in G-R action.

Medina 2, CSAT 1 Double OT
Medina outlasted CSAT 2-1 in double overtime in a non league game this evening at Vets Park.

Lily Maynard scored a minute into the second overtime on a free kick to give Medina the win.

Maynard also scored the Mustangs first goal five minutes into the second half off an assist from Arabella White.

Sanaya Wilson made 12 saves in goal for Medina.

Akron 2, Albion 0
Akron downed Albion 2-0 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game on goals by Sahpur Guijalva and Reese Adessa.

Akron is now 3-3-1 and Albion 0-4-2 in N-O competition.

Roy-Hart capped off a perfect Niagara-Orleans League championship golf season by taking first place honors at the annual All-League Tournament held today at Willowbrook.

Roy-Hart finished with a total score of 457 as Albion placed second with a 479 and Medina third with a 490.

Wilson’s Ben Meyers took medalist honors with an 82 followed by Owen Spencer (Albion) 83, Gavin Heideman (Roy-Hart) 83, Caleb Rivera (Newfane) 84 and JJ Prynn (Barker) 84 to round out the top five.

The All-League team includes Brodie Hill (Akron), Heideman, Rivera, Poeller, Spencer, Meyers and Cam Fike (Medina).

Final N-O Standings: Roy-Hart 24-7-31 total points, Albion 20-6-26, Medina 12-5-17, Barker 13-3-16, Akron 4-4-8, Wilson 5-1-6, Newfane 0-2-2.

The top three individual finishers included Owen Spencer (Albion), Ben Meyers (Wilson) and Gavin Heideman (Roy-Hart).

Now at the halfway point of the season the C North Division football title race is a five-way logjam.

Barker/Roy-Hart is currently all alone in first place with a 3-0 record while four teams are deadlocked in the runner-up spot a game back at 2-1 including Medina, Eden, Akron and Maritime.

Barker/Roy-Hart, which has already posted wins over Medina (29-22), Akron (28-10) and Eden (50-24) is playing a non league game this Friday against York/Pavilion at 7 p.m. at Barker.

Medina, which has won or shared the C North championship each of the past five years, faces a must win road win as the Mustangs visit Eden at 7 p.m. Friday.

The other C North matchups have JFK at Tonawanda and Maritime at Alden on Friday and Akron at Cleveland Hill on Saturday.

Albion will visit Depew in a B2 Division game at 7 p.m. Friday.

A two time winner during the regular season, Medina’s Melanie Green is looking to cap off an outstanding rookie campaign in strong fashion at this weekend’s Epson Tour championship tournament at Indian Wells, California.

Green who has scored tour wins at the Indian Resort Championship in Michigan and the Guardian Championship in Alabama enters the season ending championship tournament as the tour’s points leader.

Green’s point total to date has already earned her an LPGA Tour Card for the 2026 season.

“This opportunity is one I am very blessed to be in. I’ve enjoyed my time out on the Epson Tour and am looking forward to what lies ahead,” said Green in an Epson story previewing the tournament. “Some of the best parts of this year have been the relationships that I was able to form within the staff and players, so I am looking forward to topping it off with everyone and my family there. And Léo (Medeiros) on the bag again.”

The tournament begins on Thursday and runs through Sunday with the field being cut after Friday’s round.

Green is scheduled to tee off for the first round at 7:48 a.m. (Pacific Coast time) on Thursday.

Two local athletes – Holley graduate Matt Selden and Albion grad Paige Golden Judge – were inducted into the Keuka College Athletic Hall of Fame this past weekend.

Selden, a 2004 Keuka graduate, was a record setter on the baseball diamond and Golden Judge, a 2014 grad, on the volleyball court.

Selden earned first team North Eastern Conference honors as a pitcher in both his junior and senior years and was Pitcher of the Year his junior year.

When he graduated he was the Keuka leader in every pitching category and still shares the career lead in wins with 11.

He graduated with a degree in Management.

Golden Judge was a three time All Conference honoree.

She is the career leader in spiking kills, is second in digs with 1,462 and is in the top 10 in service aces.

She graduated with a degree in Biology and a minor in American Sign Language and Chemistry.

Front-running Roy-Hart downed Albion 25-10, 25-16, 25-11 in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match this evening.

Staying undefeated at 6-0 Roy-Hart had Grace Pearl with 9 kills, Kylie McOmber 5 kills, Lauren Snyder 4 kills, Peyton May 7 aces and Ryleigh Capen 5 aces and 17 assists.

Madison Muckle had 25 digs for Albion.

Newfane improved to 5-1 with a straight set win over Medina.

Maya Anderson had 2 blocks and Natalie Herbert and Karlee Cau 1 kill each for Medina.

Alexander defeated Lyndonville in four sets in a Genesee Region League match.

Leah Kenyon had 4 kills and 1 ace, Hannah Fox 3 aces and 1 kill, Bella Bresett 2 kills and 1 ace, Sarah Corser 3 aces and 1 kill, and Elena Barry 3 aces and 1 kill for Lyndonville.

In another G-R match, Kendall defeated Wheatland-Chili 25-17. 25-21 and 25-22.

Improving to 6-1, Barker defeated Roy-Hart 4-1 in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game this afternoon.

Madelina Pavlock scored two goals for Barker as Jordyn Kinne and Sophia Pavlock each scored one.

Hailey Dodge and Milayna May had assists for Barker.

Alayna Kowalski scored the Roy-Hart goal.

Roy-Hart is now 3-4 in N-O action.
