Two Medina Youth Wrestling Club members, Dominick Callara and Luke Duffina, are headed back to the state tournament to try and repeat as champions.

Qualifying for this coming weekend’s NYWAY State Championship Tournament which will be held in Syracuse, Callara placed second in the Division III (9-10 yr olds) 55 lb. weight class at the Regional Tournament in Jamestown on Sunday. He was the 2015 NYWAY State champion in the Division III 50 lb weight class.

Duffina placed fourth in the Division II (7-8year old) 47 lb weight class at the Regional tournament to earn his birth this weekend as well. He won the Division I (6 and under) 43 lb weight class at the state tournament held in Ithaca last season.

“Dominick and Luke have been working hard and have been doing a great job preparing to get back to the state tournament,” said Coach Jamie Duffina. “It is very hard to repeat as a state champion and I am looking forward to watching them try on Saturday. ”
