Youth gridiron playoff semis Saturday at Vets Park

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Hayden Woodroe and his Medina Colts teammates will host Oakfield-Elba at Vets Park Saturday morning in the semifinals of the Niagara Orleans Football Association playoffs.

Vets Park will be a beehive of youth gridiron action Saturday as the Niagara Orleans Football Association holds its slate of six semifinal round playoff games.

The top seeds in each division are the Medina Colts (9-1) in the Mini Division, Newfane (10-0) in the JV Div. and Akron (10-0) in the Varsity Div.

Action will get underway with the Mini Division semis as No. 3 Newfane (7-3) faces No. 2 Akron (9-1) at 9 a.m. and No. 4 Oakfield-Elba takes on No. 1 Medina Colts (9-1) at 11 a.m.

The JV Division match ups will have No. 3 Batavia (7-3) vs. No. 2 Albion (9-1) at 1 p.m. and No. 4 Pembroke (7-3) vs. No. 1 Newfane (10-0) at 3 p.m.

The Varsity Division contests will have No. 3 Batavia (8-2) vs. No. 2 Pembroke (9-1) at 5 p.m. and No. 4 Albion (7-3) vs. Akron (10-0) at 7 p.m.

The championship contests in the three divisions will be held November 9 at Roy-Hart at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.
