Youth football season begins Saturday

Youth football squads from 11 area communities are ready to begin the 16th season of Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition this coming Saturday.

Teams from Albion, Holley, Medina, Roy-Hart, Akron, Newfane, Batavia, Attica, Tri Town (Alexander), Pembroke and Oakfield/Elba will be competing this season in four age group divisions  – Beginner, Mini, JV and Varsity.

Medina will visit Holley and Albion will face Oakfield/Elba at Oakfield in Saturday’s openers with games set for 10 a.m. (Beginner), 12 p.m. (Mini), 2 p.m. (JV) and 4 p.m. (Varsity).

The remainder of the opening day schedule will have Roy-Hart at Tri Town, Attica at Batavia and Akron at Newfane as Pembroke draws the bye.

Medina’s home opener will be August 23 against Oakfield/Elba. Albion will also open at home that day against Pembroke.

At the conclusion of the regular season the top four teams in the Mini, JV and Varsity divisions will advance to the playoffs. The semifinals will be held Oct. 25 and the finals on Nov. 1.
