Youth baseball wins for Blue Jays and Mets
The Blue Jays and Mets both scored youth baseball victories on Thursday. The Jays topped the Cubs 9-1 and the Mets bested the Athletics 14-4.
Blue Jays 9, Cubs 1
Woodroe Realty Blue Jays beat the American Legion Cubs 9 -1. The Blue Jays bats lead the way with 3 runs each in the first, third and sixth innings.
Aidan Papaj led the way batting going 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, 1 single and 4 RBI’s, Brody Fry went 3 for 3 with 2 singles and a ground rule double and 2 RBI’s, Colton Smith had a double and 2 RBI’s, Carter Woodworth had a double and 1 RBI, and Jimmy Dieter went 2 for 3 and had a RBI. Brady Christaansen, Preston Woodworth, & Aiden Wisniewski each had a hit.
Fry pitched 3 strong innings allowing no hits striking out 6 batters. Papaj finished the game with 3 straight strikeouts.
Mets 14, Athletics 4
Justin Pitts lead the attack for the Mets going 4-4 with 4 singles. Hunter Stephens, Jakob Rissew and Noah Skinner each hit a double. Luke Wagner, Stephens, Rissew, Lam Castricone and Amari Soule all added singles for the win.
Stephens threw out 2 kids trying to steal.
On the mound Pitts struck out 8 batters Rissew had 4 strike outs and Soule 3 strike outs.
