Youth baseball season gets underway

The local youth baseball season got underway on Saturday as the Bogan and Tuttle Twins blanked the Somerset Giants 9-0, the Braves nipped the Yankees 2-1 and the Mark’s Pizzeria Reds edged the Royals 2-0.

Lukas Grimes had 3 hits for the Twins as Will Prest, Maxime Pilon, Cole Callard, Tyler Allen and Jackson Schultz each chipped in with 2 and Carlos Doval, Brayden Lewis and Sawyer Kingsbury with 1 each.

Liam Castricone had 2 hits for the Yankees as Laraya Guy, Keara Fearby, Cameron Kenward, Breydin Miller, Kolton Fletcher and Aaron Woodroe each added 1. On the mound, Woodroe, Guy and Castricone all pitched well.

Brody Fry had a big day for the Reds banging out a double and home run and striking out 5 in 3 innings of work on the mound. Jimmy Dieter also had 4 strikeouts in 2 innings. Avion Johnson had 2 hits and 1 RBI, Riley Tompkins 2 hits and Colton Smith 1.
