No. 16 seed York pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip visiting No. 17 Kendall 5-4 this afternoon in the opening round of the Section VI Class C baseball playoffs.

York combined a walk with two singles to plate the game winner with one out in the seventh. The Knights had tied the game at 4-4 with a run in the fifth.

Kendall had built up as much as a 4-2 lead after scoring solo runs in the first and fourth innings and twice in the third on a two-run triple by Cody Spellan. Singles by Mookie Nauden and Colton Breslawski set up that opportunity.

Defensively, Spellan also made a sparkling stop and throw for the final out in the third inning to get Kendall out of a bases loaded jam.

Section V playoff action continues on Wednesday as No. 2 Holley hosts No. 15 Bloomfield in a Class CC pre-quarterfinal contest at 4:30 p.m.
