York girls edge past Kendall by two

A last ditch rally fell just short as No. 10 Kendall dropped a narrow 43-41 decision to host No. 7 York this evening in the pre quarterfinal round of the Section V Class C3 girls basketball playoffs.

Kendall cut the deficit to one, 42-41, on a three by Taylor ReQua with 48 seconds to go but the Eagles could not gain the lead as two shots in the final seconds were off target.

Tania Arellano scored 17 and Taylor Kingsbury 10 to lead the way for Kendall as Amelia Patrick added 6, Kali Haskins 4, ReQua 3 and Elizabeth Rath 2.

Kendall led 9-7 at the end of the first period but York a rallied into narrow leads of 22-19 at the half and 34-32 at the three-quarter mark.

In a Class C1 pre-quarter contest, No. 5 Mynderse defeated visiting No. 12 Holley 61-12.
