Yankees down Blue Jays to claim playoff title

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Brody Fry, left, started on the mound for the Yankees and Breylin McEwen-Miller for the Blue Jays during Tuesday evening’s playoff championship game which was won by the Yankees.

The Woodroe Realty Medina Yankees won the Major Division championship by defeating the Mark’s Pizzeria Medina Blue Jays 9-0 Tuesday evening at Butts Park.

Tyler Kroening bangs out a hit for the Yankees.

Strong pitching and good defense keyed the Yankees successful championship quest.

Brody Fry had 6 strike outs over the first 3 innings and Tyler Kroening had 7 strikeouts over the last 3 innings to preserve the shutout.

Defensively Cole Callard,  Kroening, Colton Smith, and Kolton Fletcher all contributed to make key outs in the game.

Fry led the way at the plate with a single, double and 2 RBI’s and scoring twice. Callard had a single and a triple, 1 RBI and scored a run; Kroening 2 singles, scored twice and had an RBI; Smith had a single, RBI and scored a run, Jimmy Dieter a hit, RBI, scored a run, Joseph Reese 2 hits and scored a run. Timmy Vasquez and Fletcher each added a hit, and Aiden Wisniewski scored a run.

For the Blue Jays, Brady Christiaansen and Avion Johnson each had a single.
