Wolves oust Tigers in D1 sectional opener

Moving on top to stay with a scoring burst to close the opening quarter, No.7 seed Arkport-Canaseraga went on to down visiting No. 10 Lyndonville 66-44 this evening in the opening round of the Section V Class D1 boys basketball playoffs.

Breaking way from a 13-13 deadlock, the Wolves scored the final 7 points of the first quarter to go up 20-13. The Wolves went on to expand their advantage to 12, 36-24, at the half and to 17, 52-35, at the three quarter mark.

Mason Nicholson led Lyndonville with 17. Ian Mank and Jake Wilson both added 11, Trenton Muck 3 and Kevin Travis 2 for the Tigers.

Section V Girls Playoffs
No 7 seed York defeated visiting No. 10 Kendall 54-25 in the opening round of the Section V Class C2 girls basketball playoffs. Tessa Rodwell took game high honors with 22 for York.

In a Class C1 opener, No. 4 Geneseo downed No. 13 Holley 39-31.

Samantha Bates scored 11, Alivia Wolf 8 and Jailyn Bishop 7 for the Lady Hawks which trailed 12-2 after the first quarter, 18-11 at the half and 32-22 after three quarters.
