‘Wolf Moon’ kicks off new year

BARRE – The first full moon of the year was out on Monday night. Pamela Moore of Barre took these pictures of what is known as the “Wolf Moon.”
According to the Old Farmers’ Almanac, the first full moon of the year is known as a Wolf Moon because wolf packs would howl hungrily outside Indian villages, often amidst the cold and deep snows of winter.
