It’s opening week of the school year in Orleans County, and motorists are urged to show extra caution near school buses.

Today is the opening day of classes for Kendall and Lyndonville, while Holley and Medina have their first day on Wednesday.

Classes start in Albion on Thursday. (Holley’s opening day on Wednesday includes grades 1 to 12, with Pre-K and kindergarten on Thursday.)

“As the summer season comes to an end, thousands of children will be boarding buses and walking to and from school,” said Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico. “The New York State Police remind motorists to drive carefully and be especially aware of school speed zones, school bus traffic, and children walking.”
