Wilson girls roll past Medina; Albion posts win over Barker

Roaring out to a 16-1 first quarter lead, defending champion Wilson went on to defeat host Medina 43-24 this evening to stay unbeaten at 3-0 in Niagara-Orleans League completion.

In the other N-O games, Albion (2-1) bested visiting Barker (1-2) 45-23, Akron (2-1) nipped visiting Roy-Hart (1-3) 48-46 and Newfane (3-0) topped CSAT (1-2) 56-44.

Rachel Senek, Kayla Neumann and Serina Jaeger-Delgado each had a pair of baskets to spearhead the big first quarter for Wilson which went on to hold commanding leads of 32-8 at the half and 41-15 after three quarters.

Senek finished with 11, Neumann 10 and Jaeger-Delgado 8.

Molley Gross had 7, Nicole Blount 5 and Emma Ambrose 4 for Medina which slips to 0-4.

Albion 45, Barker 23

Leading 17-12 at the half, Albion used a big 18-2 third period scoring surge to put a lock on the victory over Barker. Sarah Metzler scored 9 to lead that surge.

Medina’s Allison Bensley (12) look to pass as Rachael Cobo defends for Wilson.

Chanyce Powell finished with 15 points and Metzler 11 for Albion as Justice Nauden added 5 and Zhoe Starkweather 4. Powell also grabbed off 14 rebounds and Nauden 10.

Caitlyn Mason had 12 points to lead Barker.

Akron 48, Roy-Hart 46

A basket by Cailin Regan with three seconds remaining lifted Akron to the narrow win over Roy-Hart.

Regan finished with 13 as Maggie Kowalik added 8 and Carly Staebel and Henri Jones 7 each for the Lady Tigers.

Kendra Hill scored 12 for Roy-Hart as Ava Bligh added 9, Reilly Albee 8, Taylor Fry 7 and Emma Lindke 6. Bligh also had 10 rebounds and Fry 8 assists.

Newfane 56, CSAT 44

Brooke Horning scored 16 to lead Newfane past CSAT.
