The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter weather advisory from 4 p.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. on Thursday for Orleans, Niagara and Monroe counties.

Mixed precipitation expected with total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of up to three tenths of an inch, the Weather Service said. Winds will be gusting as high as 45 mph.

The periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will result in slippery roads and limited visibilities, according to the Weather Service, which urged motorists to slow down and use caution.

“Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice,” the Weather Service said. “Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.”
