A winter storm warning is in effect from 10 p.m. today until 1p.m. on Friday with 8 to 12 inches of snow expected in Orleans County and much of western, central and northern New York.

The greatest accumulations are expected Thursday and Thursday night, said the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

“Travel could be very difficult,” the Weather Service said. “The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.”
