Winds could reach up to 50 miles per hour on Wednesday and in the early morning hours on Thursday, according to a wind advisory from the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

The advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Wednesday through 1 a.m. on Thursday. Winds from the west will be 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

The advisory includes Orleans, Niagara, Monroe, Wayne, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.

“Strong winds may cause minor property damage and localized power outages,” the Weather Service said. “Make sure to secure any lightweight, loose items on your property including any remaining holiday decorations. Motorists in high profile vehicles will need to use extra caution, especially on north-south roads which will face the cross wind flow.”
