Wind advisory in effect until 6 p.m. in Orleans

A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. today in Orleans, Niagara, Monroe, northern Erie and Genesee counties.

There will be southwest winds 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, including temporary tent structures and Halloween decorations,” according to the Weather Service. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”

Today will reach a high of 76, followed by a high near 56 on Sunday and 65 on Monday, which is Columbus Day.
