Wind advisory in effect until 5 p.m. with gusts of 50 mph

There is a wind advisory in effect today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Orleans County and Western New York.

The westerly winds will be 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects such as Halloween decorations and trash receptacles,” the Weather Service said. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”

Today is forecast to reach a high of 64 with showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers.
