Wind advisory in effect until 4 p.m. today, with gusts up to 50 mph

Winter weather advisory goes from Friday afternoon until 10 p.m. Saturday

A wind advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. today in Orleans and Genesee counties. The National Weather Service in Buffalo said there will be southwest winds from 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects,” the Weather Service stated. “Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.”

There is also a winter weather advisory in effect from 4 p.m. Friday until 10 p.m. on Saturday for Orleans and Niagara counties.

Lake effect snow is expected with total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will result in considerable blowing and drifting snow, the Weather Service said.
