Wilson tops Medina in field hockey; Akron scores key victory over Roy-Hart; Barker wins

Two quick early goals proved to be just enough to earn Wilson a 2-1 victory over Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game this afternoon at Vets Park.

Hannah Day and Olivia Mitchell scored in the first 10 minutes for Wilson which improves to 3-3.

Gwin Schalck scored on a penalty stroke in the first half for Medina which slips to 2-4.

Akron 3, Roy-Hart 2 OT
Undefeated (6-0) defending champion Akron maintained sole possession of first place by nipping visiting Roy-Hart (4-2) 3-2 in overtime this afternoon in a key N-O game.

Abby Stone scored the game winner for Akron with two minutes to go in the extra 10 minute period.

Akron also got off to a fast start jumping out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Rebecca Breymeier and Alexis Bell.

However, Roy-Hart battled back to knot the contest before half-time on goals by Lexi Lovewell and Danielle Kozma.

Barker 5, Kenmore 0
Ciara Gregoire and Casey A’Hearn each scored a pair of goals an Madison Gancasz one to lead Barker (5-1) to a 5-0 win over host Kenmore (1-5).  Natalie Menz added a pair of assists.
