Wilson girls down Roy-Hart for milestone 50th straight N-O victory

Earning a milestone 50th straight league victory, undefeated (6-0) six time defending champion Wilson downed host Roy-Hart 62-33 this evening in a foul filled Niagara-Orleans girls basketball game.

Rachel Senek scored 16 and Kayla Neumann 10 to spearhead the offense for Wilson, which last lost in N-O competition in the 12th game of the 2011-12 season, a 47-36 setback at the hands of Albion.

Shea Munnkhuysen added 7, Lauren Couturier 6, Serina Jaeger and Jodie Vincent 5, Jen Darlak and Emily Kelly 4, Leah Herman 3 and Zipporah Barrett 2 for the Lakewomen.

Emma Lindke tallied 7, Skyler Christopher 6, Ellie Todd, Sarah Duewiger and Maddy Glena 4, Reilly Albee 3, Ava Bligh and Delaney Draper 2 and Maddie Fry 1 for Roy-Hart which slips to 1-5.

Wilson, which used a 9-2 edge in made free throws to key a 16-10 first period scoring edge, made good on 21 of 38 from the foul line on the night while Roy-Hart was 9 of 20.

Trailing 6-5, Wilson used an 11-2 scoring burst on 8 free throws and a three by Senek, to take the lead for good in the opening period.

The Lakewomen extended the lead a bit to 10, 28-18, at the half before breaking the contest wide open with a big 17-5 third period scoring edge. Seven different players contributed to the point product during that stretch as Wilson opened up a commanding 22 point, 45-23, advantage at the three-quarter mark.

Wilson next visits rival Newfane in a key battle of the unbeatens for the N-O lead. Newfane bested Barker 45-25 to also improve to 6-0.

Paige Emborsky scored a game high 19 points to lead the way for Newfane in the 45-25 win over visiting Barker.

Olivia Littman added 10, Katie Kneeland 8 and Emily Foltz 6 for the Lady Panthers. Emborskey also grabbed off 11 rebounds.

Caitlyn Mason scored 9 for Barker which slips to 2-4.
