Wilson girls rally late to edge Medina

Putting together a big fourth quarter rally, Wilson edged past host Medina 55-51 this evening in the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball opener for both teams.

Trailing 44-32 at the three-quarter mark, Wilson rallied to outscore Medina 23-7 in the decisive final period to claim the narrow win.

Anna Frericks scored 11 points, including three threes, and Sarah Lewis added 6 to lead Wilson’s big stretch run.

Skylar Munnikhuysen scored a game high 28 points for Wilson including 14 in the third period.

Camri King scored 16, Maddie Williams 12, Kharise Johnson and Tyesha Robinson 7, Sarah Cochrane 5 and Jarielys Flores and Grace Hughes 2.

Taking a 6-0 lead at the outset as Williams hit an early three, Medina went on to hold leads of 12-5 after the first period and 24-16 at the half.

Medina next hosts Barker and Wilson visits Akron on Friday.
